Please spread the word we are going to Swope league tonight to celebrate Todd's favorite course and to just hang out with each other and share the memories. You don't have to play you can just heckle the people that are playing or join in the round.
We are a tight community of friends and acquaintances that get paired up on cards at leagues and tournaments so lets use this sad day, and come together and share stories about Todd and each other and make each other laugh. Todd had no governor on his mouth so you know he would have had a smart ass remark about one of us passing. Todd will be missed

General Banter / Work Days at WYCO and Rosedale Parks
« on: March 07, 2016, 02:57:37 pm »
Just wanted to bring a to everyone's attention a couple of guys that have worked at these courses since it started warming up this 2016 year. The WYCO Parks Department is a little slow for these few months and help us out with projects during this time of the year so its great to have a few people that can work during the week to coordinate with the Parks and get a few big projects done.
John Parks III know as P-III and Mark Hogins have been working for two months and are now into the 3 rd month on these projects. These guys have recruited a few others to help along the way also. The projects are spreading wood mulch and asphalt chips at the two Parks on almost every tee pad and pin placement that had muddy areas. They also have laid pieces of wood in areas of erosion and back filled with wood mulch. Another project was opening up by trimming the over grown hole 4 at WYCO and built wood steps to make that hole playable again. There has been two crossover walkways at Rosedale between hole 13 and 14 for easy access.

I sent this volunteer hours list to the head of the WYCO Parks Department.
Here is a list of volunteer hours so far this year: John Parks III and Mark Hogins did the majority of the volunteering along with a few other people.

Rosedale / Rosedale Redesign
« on: October 23, 2015, 09:54:55 am »
There are new changes coming to Rosedale Park Disc Golf Course. We are removing holes 16 and 17 from the course which includes both tee areas and pads and all the pins from both holes. The Parks Department has asked us to redesign these hole and the agreed on the new layout. The new layout will keep errant throws from the neighboring yards. A new map and new hole descriptions will be coming out this weekend. The changes will happen next week and there will be signs on the course for the players to follow.

Johnson County Parks and Recreation is celebrating it's 60th Anniversary and is having a special event on Sunday September 20th for everyone to come celebrate. The event begins at 11am and goes until 5pm at the Theater in the Park which is located at 7710 Renner Rd, Shawnee, KS 66217
They have asked the KCFDC if we wanted to set up a booth which we said yes. The playing area/ booth would be approx 30' x 50' and we will have putters there for anyone who wants to try to putt. If anyone is interested in helping out by donating some time that day please contact me on this post or contact me at 913-706-9470.
Thanks, Pete

Paul Ulibarri and Catrina Allen (Current Women's World Champion) of Prodigy Disc Golf will be putting on a Clinic at Water Works before league this Thursday evening 4/16 at 5 pm. They are offering the clinic and would like for anyone who wants to donate to go to the St. Judes Disc Golf Tourney and donate to their fundraising efforts for the St. Judes event. This should take 30 to 45 minutes of instruction and questions so you can still make WW league. Please come out and ask questions and see how the Touring Pros play and train for disc Golf.

"Please encourage KCFDC members and other disc golfers to provide comments regarding their desires to have  a disc golf course at the old Meadowbrook Country Club property that will be a new 88 acre Johnson County Park.  There is a public meeting today Tuesday the 10th and tomorrow Wednesday the 11th from 4-8:00 pm in the club house at 91st and Nall and the meetings are open to the public.  We will be taking park development suggestions at these meetings".

I just talked to Bill from the Johnson County Parks Department who is a disc golfer and he suggested having disc golfers and residents of JOCO to show up to have input in the direction of this new Park. Lets really show up in strong numbers to get a great disc golf course into the area.

Please pass the word around and could someone post this to the Facebook page! Thanks

General Banter / Down Under Hole 9 Area
« on: March 09, 2015, 10:47:01 am »
I just been asked by the WYCO Parks Department and the KCK Police Department to remove the Fire Pit and the extra benches down there. The Parks Department said okay to one bench per hole. They have been called out to the park and found people hanging out down there after the Park Closed hours. They don't want anyone in the park after hours so we all need to help get the word out to stay out of the park after hours.
We have a great relationship with the Parks so let's help them out by taking care of this for them.
Thank you

I'm working on signage next specifically for Down Under to ask the local disc golf community that play Down Under "If you Pack it in then please Pack it out" so please let it start with us kcfdc members.
