Cliff Drive / Re: 2016 League Plan
« on: January 04, 2016, 03:00:58 pm »
You should have a league night once a week it will be confusing to have leagues on certain days of the month when there are 4.3 weeks average in a month. I see playing one week night at BV but I'm sure you will get the crowd back to Cliff the other 3 nights of the month. All of the leagues slowed a couple of years ago and they have all come back strong except for WYCO which is a tough night.
Come on Jack you can make it happen!

Leagues / Re: 2016 Regular league Season
« on: January 04, 2016, 02:53:15 pm »
Typically we have leagues run from April-September here in KC.

I am going to put in historically what we have been looking at for leagues in the KC area.  As we start the new year, please be mindful that there are current leagues running around in town during the "off season"  they include:

Monday-Glow Olathe PC

Wednesday-Glow Harmon Park

Thursday-Glow Water Works

Saturday-Down Under @ 12:30

There are a few other "leagues for fun" you can read about or find on courses out there as well.

Most of those leagues start at 6, you can find more information in each of the appropriate parks thread.

The regular league season constitutes typically paying $5 for the league and an additional $1 for the ace fund.  Those individuals that are current KCFDC members do receive a $1 discount to play.

Mondays--

Olathe's Prairie Center and Lake Olathe's courses (aka Birdland) they alternate months check site to see information.

Rosedale-New Players League Night (Free to play)

Rosedale-Ladies Night Out (Free to play)

Cliff Drive and Blue Valley (2016 will alternate between the 2 courses with the 1st Monday being at Blue Valley and the 3rd Monday at Cliff in the last few years this has been a PDGA League, and will be again this year) Northeast League Night- So Cliff wont be played except once a month?

Tuesdays--

Swope Park

Shawnee Mission Park (Mike has held PDGA Leagues here, I expect he will again at some point this year) Mike is the league director at SMP

Old Pike (NON-KCFDC league, but still fun place to play)

Wednesdays--

Rosedale- Jason Pennington is the league director

Blue Springs?????--Sorta fell apart last year, looking for help to support it again this year

Thursdays--

Water Works--You know it, be there!

Pleasant Hill-Beginners League-Low entry or none

Fridays--

WyCo--Looking for help running it this year again, Beckett has stated he will do quite a bit, but looking for those that will help when he can't
Beckett would be great running this league and after the first couple of leagues he will have the backup he needs, and I believe Mark said he would step in from time to time to cover a league night.

Legacy Park--Mixed formats

If I missed anything or anyone (Rob??? uncertain your plans this year with Wandering) please put it in here.  I believe that Eric Kolkmeier will be the actual director of leagues so you if you prefer to PM him about your plans that is ok as well.

Looking forward to another great year of disc golf in Kansas City!

As far as trees go, from the donation box we have collected $860 and still collecting, Dynamic Discs has raised an additional $2,000.00 so we have a nice tree fund for the new holes. The existing trees border the yards so that's why 17 tee is located there. Thanks to everyone that has donated to the donation box!

The new layout will open for play tomorrow afternoon around 4:30pm after the parks department finishes up! I need to THANK Dave Zentz for his help everyday at the course he has done it all for the new layout. Larry Balmer, His partner Tim, Jay Rivard, Danny Knox, Bob Ward and the Parks and Rec crew, also Jack Webb and Matt who oversee the parks department and especially Cecil who works for the Parks and Rec and plays Rosedale all the time! There will be temp signs up to tell you how to navigate the course. Thank you all for your putting up with the construction.

The Parks Department has started removing the pads at 13, 16 and 17 so we pulled the baskets 13 thru 17 so no one would walk behind a bobcat or a dump truck. I will reinstall the baskets Thursday or at the latest Friday when the Parks Department is done with their work. I have signs being made to explain the new layout to the public.

Yes there is a walk from 15's basket back to 16's tee, but there is no long walk back from 17's basket to 18's tee so it was a switch off of sorts. Still looking at options for 15 to move also this just gets the course up and running again and disc golfers out of the back yards.

Rosedale / Rosedale Redesign
« on: October 23, 2015, 09:54:55 am »
There are new changes coming to Rosedale Park Disc Golf Course. We are removing holes 16 and 17 from the course which includes both tee areas and pads and all the pins from both holes. The Parks Department has asked us to redesign these hole and the agreed on the new layout. The new layout will keep errant throws from the neighboring yards. A new map and new hole descriptions will be coming out this weekend. The changes will happen next week and there will be signs on the course for the players to follow.
