Club Archives / Re: Par-how to define @ Worlds
« on: August 21, 2008, 11:32:10 AM »
What is the history of pars for any given hole/course?  Why is it even necessary?  Should we be so much like ball golf that par is the end-all?  While the two share similarities in the way they are played, the nuts and bolts of the two are waaay different.  On the other hand, if you play course for the first time how do you rate your performance against the course or others?  Golf is mostly an individual sport; having benchmarks to measure against is what keeps us coming back.  However, -100 for a tournament seems a bit excessive; it's sounds like the course pars were a bit subjective.

Well I already planned on coming now that pool league is finished for me.  sooo plllltttt.. Now back to the -100 par.. hehe
I was being facetious... jeez.  Seriously though, if there is a standardized formula to rate courses, I'm a-thinking somebody could come up with something that could standardize the course par.  And this will NOT be a talking point at the meeting, Dick.  By the way, were you in the same pool with Michael Phelps? ;)

Lots of good from K-Zoo, looking to improve in some areas, and steal from them in others.
I think we should tweak the pars on our courses so we can have a -200 to par for the 2009 worlds... that was freaking AMAZING?!!!

Water Works / Water Work-s Day
« on: November 19, 2007, 09:00:29 AM »
Saturday 11/24 9:00am - noon
We have mucho mulch and need some bodies to move it.  We need pickups (4wd is better), tarps, shovels and rakes to mulch around baskets, tees, etc.  We are also going to "naturalize" the O.B. area behind the #17 parking lot placement.  Bring a friend, have some fun making the course better and play a round after.  See you on Saturday.
