Found and Lost / Lost white wraith WW
« on: July 16, 2013, 08:11:46 am »
On Sunday, I left my 12x, white wraith on hole 18. I don't believe I picked it up, and left it just under the big fallen tree on the hill. Friendly adult beverage if found and returned. Thanks

I obviously don't know how to use the forum. That past post looks like an entire previous quote. Oops!

For those of you who have played Bryant Lake and Blue Ribbon Pines in Mpls., could you imagine that level of detail and attention applied to Water Works?

My brother in law and I had a chance to throw those courses and said the same thing. I know surrendering WW to become a pay to play would hurt a lot of feelings, but just imagine the possibilities. Walking up hole 6's fairway and there no erosion (grass!), or hole 5 where the run off creek is, that seems to breed Mosquitos, not being as grotesque after a good rain.
I love WW, and it being rated a top 20 course is super. So why change a good thing? Because, think of the possibilities.

Good luck to all throwing today on Independence Day. Be safe!

I picked one up due to its likeness to the Judge, except beadless. I wasn't comfortable with it enough putting, but fell in love with it on approaches. The stability is excellent, and is excellent up hill with a slight hyzer, and it will sit down with little or no roll. It doesn't seem to have much glide, so just put it on a flat line and watch it go. I even bought a back up and practice with it a lot.

Rumor has it that this tourney is full.  Is that correct?

So, the round is cancelled and wiped off the books.  They will be throwing their scheduled round at WW starting at 8:30.  I understand the safety issue, as well as the issue of fairness to all the advanced players, all though I wish there was a way to count a third round for them.  Good luck to them at WW.  It's completely saturated, with red mulch and broken limbs strewn everywhere.  Not to mention a tree is down on hole 7 (struck by lightning?), but is not obstructing the fairway.

I just got wind that I can help out at Rosedale on Friday at the 1:45 slot.  Just call me at 816.729.5696, or I will just show up.

This may be a stupid question, but here it goes;  Do I, as an intermediate participant in this lovely tournament, have to attend the opening ceremony at the Ramada on Thursday night, or can I simply go donate my $5 to WW league?

1. Water works. Not that DGCourse Review is official, but this course is consistently top 20 year after year. Also, my home course. So...
2. Blackthorn.  Seriously, it has a cemetery on its premise. Creepy, but kinda cool.
3. Swope.
4. Cliff Drive. With the terrain changes and woods early on, to the open air and (sometimes) huge gusts of wind that come outta the blue. Great city view as well
5. Down under
6. Woodhenge. The more I play this course, the more I love it.
7. Old pike. I just need to convince myself to join this club. Tuesday nights, random draw doubles, will have to suffice for now.
8. Wyco.
9. Prairie Center. I really dislike the new hole 13, but it's a challenge, and I can't let 1 hole blow an entire course. Oh, and the pond owns 2 of my discs. I suppose that's why PC isn't my #8.
10. Up top. The only reason it's this low is cuz of the infrequent mow schedule and how busy it gets on the weekend. Nobody's fault on the popularity, just sayin.

Haven't played Blue Valley, Birdland or PHill, but I've heard good things. Maybe next time.

General Banter / What putter do you throw, and why?
« on: June 02, 2013, 02:55:07 pm »
Ever year it seems that I choose a new putter.  It probably explains why it is not my strongest part of my game, but I keep working at it.  Currently I am going through a love for the Latitude Pure, which is much like the DD Judge, only beadless.  I have gone through my Challenger, Aviar, Wizard and even the Voodoo love periods, but keep insisting on change.  No real reason why, I just do.

So, what do you throw and why?  Just curious...

I played and had a great time with Josh(a gracious host) and John(visitor from Peoria).  Hope I can make it back a few times this year.  Family stuff keeps me busy.  I made a partial mud angel myself but saved my 3.  Given my girth the angel may look more like the stay pufft marshmallow man.  ;D
I had a great time with you and John as well.  Though John is from Peoria, and you from Lawrence, I do hope that we get a round in together sometime.  Good luck with the knee and when your family moves down to KC.
Yeah, so, Utz and others who posted were correct, the course was considerably dry, which was contrary to most beliefs.  I do appreciate all that John T, Tracy and Jack L, as well as others, do for the upkeep and general well being of the courses around town.  I can only hope that I will be afforded time to come out and volunteer my raking and chain saw skills when a work day is scheduled.  Kudos to all of you who put out hours upon hours at WW, and keep it at a top notch level.  Imagine how much better it would be with retaining walls and all the necessities to cut back the erosion; WOW...!

Water Works / Re: railroad ties wanted

On Craigslist, there is a post for free/used rr ties. The post was from Feb 19, but I'm sure that since the post is up they are still available. The curb in which they are on is just east of parkville, over by Lakeside middle school. I'm not too sure if these rr ties are what you are seeking out, but I thought I'd help. If I had a truck, or access to one, I would've done this myself. Sorry. If you would like, I could help loading them if you went to go snag them though.

There seems to be so much composure and truth in his story.  Great video.

General Banter / Re: Chiefs are on the clock!
« on: December 31, 2012, 03:49:55 pm »
And with the first pick, the Kansas city Chiefs draft, Gino Smith (insert boos)! We will then pick up Vick in FA. We will get a WR with the 33rd pick. The Chiefs will then again suck next year, possibly winning 4 games (we play Oakland twice, so it's not too much of a stretch). If this holds true, our much beloved Chiefs will be lucky enough to draft a D Lineman in the top ten in 2014.
