General Banter / And the sandbagging continues
« on: August 15, 2012, 07:37:48 pm »
Being that I won't be able to play am worlds next year, I am making the trek to Emporia this weekend for the Dynamic Discs open; just so I can see what I'll be missing next year (I'm getting married the same weekend - no way I'm missing that!).  Anyway, I was looking through the field of those who are pre-registered and I saw something that baffled me.

The last advanced tournament I played was the Kansas City Wide Open.  I've only played one tourney since, but I played Open and did somewhat decent.  I felt that taking a tie for second in the KCWO in the advanced field was good enough reason to move up and challenge myself a bit more...I digress...but, the individual who won the KCWO in advanced (by 8, yes 8 strokes) is still playing advanced this upcoming weekend.  I'm sure many of you know who I'm alluding to, but I did just a little quick digging...

5 first place finishes this year in advanced (4 second place finishes) & 14th in AM worlds.  I didn't look at the scoring differential in anything else, but the KCWO was a blowout.  977 rated, and I would assume he will probably win this weekend in the advanced field.  This doesn't affect me since I'm playing open, but I do feel a bit bad for those playing advanced.  I mean, come on.  I understand not wanting to cash before playing AM worlds next year IF it was going to be your first AM worlds or something to that effect.  But it won't be for him!!! I don't know, this is probably just a meaningless rant and feel free to mark as read and move on.  Again preaching to the choir here, but doesn't sandbagging just bug you too!?!?!

Barter Town / FOR SALE: Cabelas XPG Pro Series Angler Pack
« on: August 14, 2012, 09:17:10 am »
As many of you have seen, I've been playing the past year with a converted disc golf bag. I got the idea off of DGCR and have had really good luck with this bag. It has ample storage, a "putter pocket" up top, and can hold probably 20 discs in the lower compartment. As I said, I've had it for a year and it retails at $69.99. I'd probably let it go for $35.

Selling because I now have a grip-which unfortunately doesn't have equal storage but is a bit more of a sturdy bag. PM me if you are interested.

General Banter / Grip bag modification
« on: August 07, 2012, 09:57:09 am »
This may be a silly question, but is there any issue with modifying a grip bag? I have a contact who would be able to embroider my name and PDGA number on it, but didn't want to get in trouble if I ever saw @water and he gave me trouble for modifying the bag.

Again, I don't think it's a problem and may be a stupid question, but thought if ask everyone's input.

Smithville / Park hours

With the heat, I'd really like to get out super early to play these courses over the weekend. Still haven't played woodhenge yet. What time can I get in the park?

General Banter / Registering a new account
« on: July 15, 2012, 09:39:26 pm »
Went to help my brother register a new account today and spend 20 min trying to figure this damn thing out. I entered a valid username and password and email. Put in all the questions correctly. I get an error message every time!!

General Banter / Morningside Park - Knoxville, TN
« on: July 13, 2012, 07:29:23 pm »
Big thanks go to Eric Eastwood for recommending that I play this course. Gosh where do I start?

Recently designed in 2012 this course evidently received quite the makeover.  Will Schusterick set the course record at 44 according the local disc golf shop, Pluto sports. I truly enjoyed this course with lots of elevation shots, a couple Rosie down under shots, and tons of baskets on hillsides and mounds that make a deuce putt turn into a bogey real quick. Rollaways are commonplace, let me just say that much. Not a super long course, but a few holes that do require a distance driver. But I would say if you can control a roc and a teebird you'll be set. With a 4.0 rating on dg course review, I would agree. This is a must play course in Knoxville that I'm sure guys who are more traveled disc golfers such as Tank would agree with me on...

Anyone else played this course since the redesign?

Old Pike / Old Pike Doubles 6/19/12
« on: June 19, 2012, 09:23:20 am »
Hoping to make it out for the first time to Old Pike. Just wanted to make sure I don't need to do anything in advance in order to play; I know it's a private course and all... 6:00 tee?

Young Park - Blue Springs / League 5/30 at 6:00
« on: May 30, 2012, 02:01:16 pm »
Hope plenty of people can make it out to league at blue springs this evening. The course I believe is set up in tournament settings and is as knarly as ever with summer foliage in full swing. This is definitely a course than can make or break your tourney so come out and join us and get some practice in!!

I'm sure a few pros will be out as well (has anyone heard?!)

General Banter / Recovery Advice??
« on: May 22, 2012, 11:21:09 am »
Naturally, two weeks before the Wide Open, I've pulled my hamstring playing slow pitch softball. I don't think it's a very bad strain as it doesn't hurt to walk, it simply just isn't 100% and I know they don't heal very quickly. Does anyone have legitimate advice as to how I can speed up the recovery process?

I had to back out of the GBO for work reasons and I'm not about to back out of the KCWO without a fight.

Thanks for any input.

Found and Lost / Found maroon champ destroyer
« on: May 08, 2012, 10:07:32 pm »
Whoever threw a maroon champ destroyer at Legacy this evening on hole 6....with a Prince logo (yes, the singer----amongst other things), your disc will be at Disc Golf World this week sometime. I will be glad to give this one back even though it has no name.  :o

Maybe Karma will bring my Maroon champ destroyer back to me that I lost on hole 10 about a year ago.
