Found and Lost / WaterWorks-Teal FR Judge
« on: August 01, 2014, 09:02:01 PM »
No idea where I left it laying, but I left a first run judge that is teal in color out there somewhere. I would love to get it back. If found please call me or take to one of the shops. Haven't seen many around town if any in this color scheme first run so don't just throw it in your bag and hope nobody asks, cuz I'll ask  ;)

I just found out that I'm being recruited to help the wife in her classroom Monday night; otherwise I would have done it.

I'll be there for sure! Any clues as to where they are looking to put the course?

Sites are still being looked at. John and I had pitched Van hook, but there are some potential issues there. Time will tell, but the first step is getting them and everyone else in indep thinking about disc golf.

Very cool. How late can we show up?  I will be busy until about 7:15 that night , but want to see a course in my city.

I am not sure what the meeting agenda is.  I would say show up unless you hear otherwise from me!

General Banter / ATTENTION INDEPENDENCE DISC GOLFERS
« on: July 31, 2014, 10:23:41 AM »
John Theiss and I have been in contact with Independence Parks and Recreation and have begun discussion about putting a course in somewhere in town.  As many of you know, there is a LOT of work that goes into putting in a disc golf course and it takes a LOT of time and energy to get it done.  Parks and Rec wants to gauge interest in disc golf by having as many Independence disc golfers attend a meeting on August 12th.  The city already has some temporary baskets in storage, so they plan to bring one of those baskets along to the meeting and present it (disc golf) along with what has already been done with regards to a course installation to those in attendance.  So, we need as many Independence disc golfers as possible to attend this meeting and show their support.  I think it is OK for local residents of other towns to be in attendance as well if you feel so moved.  The emphasis, though, is to see how many local players there are and what the need and desire is for a course.

The meeting will be held at the Sermon Center at 6:00 PM on August 12th.  The address for the Sermon Center is as follows:

201 North Dodgion Street
Independence, MO 64050

So, call your friends & family if they play and are Independence residents and do your best to get them to this meeting.  If there is a desire for a course and a core group of residents who will continually support the course and its upkeep, I think we have a good shot at getting a course put in (P.S. I have certainly made mention of the club and KCFDC's efforts in course upkeep, collaboration, etc).  The location is still under discussion, but this is the first step.  I am very excited for this opportunity and am hopeful that you are as well.  I know that the forum will only reach a handful of Independence players, so I need your help in spreading the word.  August 12, 6:00 PM, let's make it happen.

Is the plan to play the MAC setup tonight?  I wasn't able to attend last week, but would like to give it a shot tonight to see what they are up against this weekend.

It's also worth noting that the following holes have two "blue" placements:

1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17 & 18.  I don't think I missed any did I John?

Tyler's map is right with the exception noted above.  Just have to adjust the hole #'s accordingly.

The address is:
901 South La Frenz Road, Liberty, MO 64068

Hey Tyler,

You've combined hole 6 into two holes.  All three of those baskets are for the same hole (two blue and one gold).  The pin that is in the tree stump has to stay put, so that's why it is confusing.  Hole 6 is a public par 5 and pro par 4 to the gold pin.

Also, a majority of the holes have two blue pin placements.  John may have a better map that he can post on here at his convenience, but the one you posted does show the correct general flow (with the exception of hole 6).

Any thoughts on the new discs?

The putter was called a shield - very overstable.  I think it would be a great driving putter, but a bit too beefy for me to putt with.  The midrange was called a claymore - moderately understable.  I felt that this disc really held the turnover line and did not have any fade.  The fairway driver was a thief - very understable.  This disc most reminded me of a leopard with a little more glide.  I think that all of the discs serve their purpose, although I will admit it was tough to play a full 18 holes with just those three discs.  I had a hard time getting the midrange or the fairway to fly straight (even with a hyzer release) simply because I tend to throw hard and don't lay off much unless I am throwing approach shots.  Just my .02.

nice shootin jordan

Thank you, sir.  Scott is being humble, but he too also shot a 49 (along with one other person who I can't remember their name).  I just happened to throw a little bit better upshot to #2's pin from the deck at the clubhouse.  Great little Sunday afternoon event, thanks to DD for running it and to Lat64, DD and Westside for putting it on!
