Tournaments / Re: 2014 Kan-U-Wyco PDGA B Tier - March 8th & 9th
« on: March 10, 2014, 11:10:03 am »
Ridiculous may have been a strong word for me to use.  I guess what I was getting at was that these are BIG holes with some pretty tight OB given the circumstances.  10 and 13 are both tough 3's for most people, even the big arms.  They both require a great tee shot and a great upshot.  I'm ok with the OB and by all means keep it all there.  I just thought it could be widened some.

My next thought was, why not add some OB on to some of the easier holes on the course rather than tightening up the already difficult holes?  Put an island green on 5 and 8 instead of an island green on 13?  Just some food for thought.

Both (10 & 13) of which were a too tight in my opinion.  I'll be the first to admit that I played both holes poorly this past weekend, but those holes are monsters already and the tightness of the OB made it a bit ridiculous in my opinion.  I'm still fairly new to KC disc golf and young and my opinion doesn't carry much weight, but I have a feeling the pros will even think that they are too tight come the KCWO if laid out the same way.

Leagues / Re: Spring PDGA League format poll
« on: March 06, 2014, 12:41:27 pm »
Occurred to me that not everyone would know league costs.

They are:

$5
-$1 discount if KCFDC member
+$1 Ace Fund - optional.

PDGA league would be $1 more.

League payouts are provided here:

Rob,

You might re-word this because the way I read it, I would think that club members pay $4 plus +$1 for the ace fund.  Isn't $5 if a member of the club plus $1 for ace fund?  Maybe I'm just behind the times.

That was a good article.  I haven't been playing long enough to have even heard of him prior to the memorial.  What a great story and what a great competitor!

Extra?  Or any?  Clearly on or over the road or in standing water other than casual is OB like usual...

If you're referring to Rosedale or Wyco, hopefully it will have melted by Saturday/Sunday!  Agree, pretty irresponsible.

I don't know Chris, if you can't throw accurately from 500', you end up throwing more than '200, which inevitably puts you farther out than '20.  But enough of this discussion.  My apologies for the sidetrack.  Let's bring this thread back to where Dick intended it to go.  I'll do my best to come up with some sponsors.

I read today in DiscGolfer magazine that we will be using Blue Valley, Swope Gold, and WyCo for this year.

Confirm?

And the really good news is those are all short courses, so people like me that can't throw very far will have a good chance. 8)

Tank has a clinic on throwing far you could check in with him on.

I like it and would fully support it.  However, I'm not sure if the general population of league players will be able to remember or keep up with the schedule.

What makes Legacy so lame?  Have you played the new pin positions?

Finally had a chance to play these last weekend.  There were only two new locations set up when I played it, but I enjoyed them both; especially 16.  Great work Eric.

Legacy Park - Lee's Summit / Re: 2014 League Director
« on: February 21, 2014, 07:24:29 am »
I brought this up last year to have a rotating league between blue springs and legacy on Wednesday nights since the turnout at blue springs isn't always that great. But I know there are some strong opinions in lee's summit on what league night is and what format is going to be. If I'm going to run a league night (Wednesday or otherwise) out there, we aren't going to be playing doubles in the summer months.

Does anyone else have thoughts, concerns or opinions on a rotating league or just another night in general for legacy league? I know there are still several people who make it to Friday league every week. If the preference is to keep it on Friday night that is perfectly fine, I just can't commit to that.
