Legacy Park - Lee's Summit / Re: Pin Settings
« on: August 31, 2012, 02:09:42 PM »
I think we have some real options for new pin placements on the holes with only one pin location.
#9 left and long. Maybe plant a small cedar guardian tree? Still have to avoid the trees halfway down.
#10 beyond creek. Let's make it I reachable shall we? ;)
#12 LEFT. By far the best option.
#14 tucked left in trees or even on far side of creek. Far side of creek would be a sloped hill pin with potential to be wet on a runaway (if it were ever full of water)
#16 left behind large tree and cedar. Hyzer route for both righty and lefty.

Granted, LS parks and rec would have to approve. But we have option. Honestly there should be two if not three courses here as is...

I haven't been playin in Kansas City very long Tank, don't know your true roots.

If you are Missouri at heart, but just happen to live on the Kansas side of things, then I retract my statement

I think I approached this thread in the wrong way. Shouldn't have singled out one person. I've played with Aaron, he is a great player and truly enjoyed meeting him at the KCWO. What I meant to get at here was seeing what people think constitutes moving up. IMO, his credentials (and many other people's) are more than enough and sometimes I don't understand why people don't challenge themselves more.

Just wanted to clear the air here and note that this was in no way intended to be a direct bash on Aaron. After reading my first post I apologize for how it came off.

I completely understand everyone has different goals. I enjoyed playing with him, he is very good and incredibly consistent. Five wins and a top twenty at AM worlds would do it for me.

My rant was probably uncalled for. Just comes a point when you (in my opinion) would feel inclined to challenge yourself some more and make some dough instead of plastic. Guess it all boils down to what level you want to be at and how long you want to be there. Everyone is different.

Being that I won't be able to play am worlds next year, I am making the trek to Emporia this weekend for the Dynamic Discs open; just so I can see what I'll be missing next year (I'm getting married the same weekend - no way I'm missing that!).  Anyway, I was looking through the field of those who are pre-registered and I saw something that baffled me.

The last advanced tournament I played was the Kansas City Wide Open.  I've only played one tourney since, but I played Open and did somewhat decent.  I felt that taking a tie for second in the KCWO in the advanced field was good enough reason to move up and challenge myself a bit more...I digress...but, the individual who won the KCWO in advanced (by 8, yes 8 strokes) is still playing advanced this upcoming weekend.  I'm sure many of you know who I'm alluding to, but I did just a little quick digging...

5 first place finishes this year in advanced (4 second place finishes) & 14th in AM worlds.  I didn't look at the scoring differential in anything else, but the KCWO was a blowout.  977 rated, and I would assume he will probably win this weekend in the advanced field.  This doesn't affect me since I'm playing open, but I do feel a bit bad for those playing advanced.  I mean, come on.  I understand not wanting to cash before playing AM worlds next year IF it was going to be your first AM worlds or something to that effect.  But it won't be for him!!! I don't know, this is probably just a meaningless rant and feel free to mark as read and move on.  Again preaching to the choir here, but doesn't sandbagging just bug you too!?!?!

Barter Town / FOR SALE: Cabelas XPG Pro Series Angler Pack
« on: August 14, 2012, 09:17:10 AM »
As many of you have seen, I've been playing the past year with a converted disc golf bag. I got the idea off of DGCR and have had really good luck with this bag. It has ample storage, a "putter pocket" up top, and can hold probably 20 discs in the lower compartment. As I said, I've had it for a year and it retails at $69.99. I'd probably let it go for $35.

Selling because I now have a grip-which unfortunately doesn't have equal storage but is a bit more of a sturdy bag. PM me if you are interested.

Tournaments / Re: DD open emporia

Ya I realize that is true for the KC crowd. I want to play this tournament though because I can't play AM worlds next summer due to the fact that it is the same weekend as my wedding. So, my question on turnout (aside from the KC crew) still stands.

Any idea why there is essentially nobody signed up for open? 4 players, 4 days away from this event? I assume EMAC will be playin vibram instead this year... But this thing had a great turnout last year

Well bomber may be an overstatement. I guess there are just those three or four holes that make it seem like a long course. Baskets are better than before, that's for sure. The 600+ foot downhill roller shot is a hole I'll never forget!!

I know there is a tourney here in KC this same weekend but I do want to put in my recommendation For this Joplin B-tier. JDGC partnered with the Disc Golf Monkey put on a great show. The course is a bomber with some OB to make things interesting. Temp nine is no joke either.

Players party is a blast. Putting tOurney again this year? Nothing but good things to say about this one. $4,000 added cash for open, what's not to love?'
