General Banter / Destroyer Discussion
« on: March 17, 2015, 10:51:14 am »
I know I'll get lots of feedback on this.  As some of you may know, I used to be one of the select few in town that was a boss thrower.  I finally broke down and started throwing destroyers because everyone claimed they were the best controllable distance driver you could find.  Prior to that, I only ever owned one SDS in my life and I sold it to Jake Bowen for cheap because at the time I didn't think I would ever throw it...he subsequently lost it or threw it in a pond or something, but that's beside the fact.  Anyway, I did start throwing them for a bit and not too long after that got picked up by a sponsor.  Well, I'm no longer sponsored and back to throwing destroyers...I've heard all kinds of stories on what to get and what not to get.  Bottom stamped destroyers are beefy, vulcan top destroyers suck, AJ destroyers are just as good as SDS, etc etc etc.

Right now I have one regular old star destroyer in the bag from the 29th or 30th KCWO I believe.  It's gummy, I love it, but it doesn't handle a headwind.  It will soon be my straight to flippy destroyer if I had to guess.  So, now I need a straight one, a stable one, and a beefcake.  Suggestions?  I think my first option will be to pick up an AJ Destroyer, but I don't know what people have experience with color selection if anything?  White is typically stable right?

Oh and hey jteater, no need to agree with me on anything.  Perfectly fine.

Before you start calling us the losing side how about we actually, you know, play the tournament first.  Feel free to ask your captain if you can face me in the singles match...I'll be happy to oblige.

P.S.  My alma mater is Missouri State by the way and I have a good feeling the MO VALLEY conference is going to take care of business in the second round...just sayin'

Not sure we should dog KU...MU has been on the losing end of the scoreboard all year...

Big difference between not wanting to read and being able to read Peter!  Man I just hope I can play this year, tired of not being able to contribute.

Has this tournament already been played?  Didn't know the East side had already lost.

Young Park - Blue Springs / Re: League?

Since Young never gets a big turnout anyway I'd just assume it be on Thursday.  I love WW league, but hate getting home after 9:00 to play it.  1 vote Thursday.

Cool, I'm lazy and didn't want to read the essay of team rules.

Isn't Isaac from Lawrence?  I may not have read the rules so forgive my ignorance if it isn't in there, but is there a radius to pull players from?  Just curious....just want to clarify before eMac shows up at the team challenge or something.

went good. 2.5 hour round like I had estimated. finished right at sunset. 8 of us on the field. dresser took 1st with a 50, I shot a 56 for 2nd. all tags were in and we will be teeing off again next Wednesday @ 5pm. tom almost had a skip ace on 17, bounced off the bottom of the basket. I got the park cleaned up pretty good just about filled a 55 gallon drum

Thanks for picking up trash while playing, much appreciated by all.  Glad it went well!  Unfortunately Wednesdays will be tough for me as I start a softball league here in the next two weeks that is on Wednesday nights...hopefully that will change nights in the summer.

How was the turnout for this last night?  I'm interested to hear how it went as I couldn't make it like I had originally hoped.

Just try and avoid a playoff...if at all possible.

I've had something family related come up and won't be able to make it tonight. Enjoy!

I'll be there, but it'll be closer to 5:15.  If it is free and trial only I'll just catch up with whomever shows up.

Hole 14, I think, the hole with the big bush to the left that obscures the bike trail.

A couple warning signs.  One by the tee pad, post spotter.  One up the trail, beware of disc flying at high rates of speed that will knock you off your bike.

It's hole 15.  I agree with Ben completely here.  We almost had a man down when I was out there awhile back.  Biker came flying in as CD was teeing off.

Or we could give productive comments/concerns like John was asking for instead of starting yet another thread drift for three pages that gets nothing accomplished.
