Coolio! ;D

That really sums up what I am hopeful to help us all out with in the middle of January.

I will be looking at confirming most of the information with folks over the weekend and Monday or so, but hopefully this gives folks an idea of the items that appear to be able to help us raise more awareness, and also the ability to drive bigger and better results!

smart ass.  I said I would have something on Friday, but here is the gist of it for right now.
I would like to see us run a series of events for the Ice Bowl leading up to the Ice Bowl so people can play locally and then just show up to play 9 holes on Sunday so we have possibly "more people" but actually "less people".

One way to help increase participation would be to also look at possibly having the course that has the most "players" would then be used for the club championships in October/November whenever it is.

I don't want to announce any dates or locations though until I have enough people to help facilitate it.

I would like to make some commemorative discs for the weekends as well to distribute only at those courses that decide they want it.  Something that would be added to the existing disc just signifying the weekend event though as well, so it would be the same only slightly different.

So the goal was really just helping by having someone out there to run a "flex start" type, or an actual shot gun start type of event. Same ice bowl rules apply, buy mulligans, etc, course short, etc....  Even possibly using "temp" pads to make the course shorter is something that I would be ok with as well.  So having multiple people help should prevent anyone from not being able to play at their course.  Of course the people that run the event may decide that their course will host a "shotgun" start instead.  I would leave that up to the volunteers that are looking to do it their way.  This is really just an attempt to increase our participation and raise more money for the charities is the thought process for now.  Also this should then enable Rosedale on Sunday to not be as "busy" of a course.

I am also looking at a plan in place to set up a "temporary course" at Rosedale up top, so we could have 54 holes there, but that is TBD right now.  The hope is quite simply that this increases the "fun aspect" and keeps people from waiting on 10-somes.  Please limit your grouping to 3-6 for ease of flow.

So this is the nuts and bolts of it for right now that I am thinking.

for clarification, these events that I am thinking of would NOT replace the Ice Bowl, but rather make it easier to have a round completed before the "final 9" on Sunday that we hold.

So this would be in addition to the actual Ice Bowl, but should garner interest in each local course to get more activity towards the charity, and make it easier for people to enjoy Sunday at Rosie.  Maybe not get angry if you see a 10 some (Please limit your group to no more than 6 though seriously please!)

I am loving it.  This was the next phase after adding on the Saturday event at Rosie in my mind.  Unfortunately my last job made it impossible to look at for options to help coordinate this.  This year that shouldn't be the case!

Thanks all!  More information to follow, but please keep up letting me know if you can help.  It should be relatively painless for most, and obviously the more people we have helping the easier it is on EVERYONE!

I am working on allowing us to have multiple locations in advance for the Ice Bowl to help us raise more money.  So far there has been a pretty good examples of people stepping up.  So I will be hopefully having something to post a little more informative probably by Friday when I get more confirmations from people willing to help run a course for a few hours on those days.

So far though the response has been very good!

Good question.  It will be HOLD EM only, no circus poker games.  Right now I think we are at 18 confirmed.  Good group of folks playing for certain.  I think we are starting with $7000 in chips, blinds will go up every 40 minutes first 2 hours, then every 30 for next 2, then every 10 or 15 till we are done is the tentative plan.

Dick is not playing with a full Deck, but I think we all already knew that.

benches and trash cans are a no go.  I want ROCKS, and pack in what you pack out, but some placement on cans along the roads for the P&R to get would be ideal.

Met with P&R and a few others.  We will be losing only hole #7 in the SHORT pin.  We will now though have the rocks that line the fairway between the road as OB, and will work towards a new placement of the teeing area to align better with the hole design and thwart the trail riders from getting hit from an errant disc.  We will also be looking to plant trees along the road as well to help protect the riders.

Probably look at re-tooling the pad on #3 as well since it needs to be replaced, may move it back a touch.

The other items will be additional holes to make this close to a 24 hole configuration moving forward that will also enable a 18 hole footprint for leagues and should make for a wonderful time.

The east course will go on the back burner until the new trails are solidified and we will work on a design that will enable us to co exist with no fear of of injury on the riders through the course.  Good things moving forward.

Jared plays disc golf still? ???

It was a joke.  He would drive here for the City of Fountains knowing he would play Blue Valley and Cliff, but stop at Birdland, and then go play Waterworks before he left town.  He is freaking crazy!
