Cliff Drive / League 3-23-09
« on: March 25, 2009, 10:01:20 AM »
With a calm evening, where 7 trucks were overturned on I-70, we had 8 brave souls show up to play in some of the windiest conditions that I have seen.  I can remember one night at WyCo close to this, but I did not hear about Semi's being blown over on the news that night.....winds gusting up to 50 mph, made for an interesting round.

Arturo-59 (8-4's)
Bobby-61 (5-4's, and a 6 on the Island)
Jack-69 (5-4's, 4-5's, and a 6 on the Island)
Pete-69 (3-4's, 6-5's)
Matt Hummel-70 (7-4's, 3-5's, and a 7 on 16...that Wind up there was FIERCE)
Chappy-74 (well.....4's, 5's, 6's, and an 8)
Matt Hays-78 (4's, 5's, 7, 8)
Dan Truax-84 (4's, 5's, 6, 8'ss....)

So all you fair weathered are all weak, we are all strong.

Come on out next Monday and see if you get to play in one of the most fun leagues in town

Cliff Drive / Cleaning up the park
« on: March 23, 2009, 10:38:46 AM »
Whilst you play, anything that you can do to clean up the park would be greatly appreciated.  Yesterday I spent about 3 hours out at hole #1 cleaning it up.  Morales and Aaron also helped, and man does it look a thousand times better.

There are still a few cleaning items and then we have to work on the mowing, and the stairs.  I am hopeful that tee pads within the next few weeks will be completed, and then we really start to assault the park.  There area  few bags of trash along the West end of #5, that I hope to tackle today, then I will put a call out for the BEAST-hole #12, you know it, and I know it, something has to be done there.  The goal is going to be to get all the trash down to the fence line, then figure out a way to move a machine into the area to scoop and remove, that is going to be the only way we get it done.  And while we are at it, we will take some honeysuckle out.  I also want to start to remove all the trees from the wrought iron along the reservoir (yeah I am sadistic with disc golf) so as to beautify the area, not to watch the sheer horror of faces on people as the disc goes floating away in the abyss...

The practice basket is going to go where old #11 pad was at.  I hope to get that moving this week as well.  We need to finish hole #1 box, will be moving it back about 3' with that extra on the ties, it should prevent people from falling off....then need to plant a fwe trees to protect the pad, will probably move the original #10 based on this as well....

Probably am going to move #13 pad in front of the mulberry to bring the last few trees into play, it makes the short setting a lot easier, but a long placement along the road deep will wreak some OB havoc.....great idea Pete, I had blinders on from the old trees, and just really hadn't thought about the usage of the trees out side of the ones that are no longer there.

More to follow, but the course is really looking good, and anything that you can do to help (like picking up 18 pieces of trash-1 per hole) is greatly appreciated, in fact if your only way to help is to come out and play, I'll take it!!!

Tournaments / Mighty MO-May 10th
« on: March 03, 2009, 04:16:26 PM »
WW and Cliff Drive, should be the first event with Tee pads at Cliff (how long have I been threatening to have them there?).

We will start at WW and then off to Cliff in the afternoon.

I will post details as I come up with the price plan.

RIght now I am thinking about the following-
$50-Pro divisions
$30-Adv divisions

There will be additional fees-
$2/Non-KCFDC member fee
$3 Ace fund
$10-non-PDGA fee

There is talk about having a charity event on the 9th @ Cliff Drive for the North East area (Indian Mound Association), I will post more here on that, I realize that there is the prostate event, but it is far away from this event, so I iwll try to ask that you choose what to do, but realize that our time for events is tight, and this date unfortunately was mapped out last December with the organization, based on our plan to have the Mighty Mo the day after the fund raiser.

More information to follow, it should be listed in the PDGA soon, sanctioning has been sent.

Cliff Drive / new holes
« on: February 25, 2009, 09:22:01 AM »
There are new pin placements on the following holes-
#10, middle, tricky green, watch your putts or they will go down the hill
#11, new pad (by the reservoir, top of hill), 2 pins, one short with the road, and hill come into play, and the other is now SUPER long, on the North end of the reservoir.
#17 long island hole, there is a new placement for the pad as well.  Across the road in the triangle.

There are a few differences on the pads in a few locations, but it is getting there.

So come out and play, this course is getting good folks, it is getting close to being ready for prime time players....
