General Banter / Cliff Drive Closed-October 13
« on: August 21, 2012, 04:23:57 PM »
Jack,

Please be advised that Cliff Drive will be closed, or hard to get to on Saturday October 13 for a Soap Box Derby Race.

Reservoir Rd. will be closed up to Lexington so anyone wanting to play the front 9 will have to walk to get to hole one.

« on: August 20, 2012, 11:56:33 AM »
I am going to try to move a few pins if I can get there in time.  If you have a key and can move them, I would like to move the following:
#2-Long
#4-Rocks
#7-Long
#8-Long
#10-Right (Short, we need to see if that placement got fixed ok)
#14-Long Left (Same side of the road)

That's enough for today.

A look back almost a decade ago.  The hole #'s on this are not accurate, but it is crazy to see holes #4, #5, #6 in the past.  I want to get some more photos up there....wow.....

Cliff Drive / 8/13/12 League-LDO event style
« on: August 13, 2012, 08:57:37 AM »
We will be playing the LDO course tonight, in the 20 hole configuration (means playing 8-9 which ARE NOT in play during the LDO, but not making you walk.  We will be using the Hangar on #8, with the Stage and Rock's as OB......so that tightens up the hole drastically.

I am uncertain if I am going to be playing, or working on the course tonight.  I should have map's though for the course for you to use, and will try to make up some 20 hole scorecards.  Par 60, everything is short.

Trying to get an Idea of what is going on in the KC Scene:
8-18-Lion's Den Open-Cliff Drive
9-1-Old Settlers-Olathe (B-Tier)
9-8 Ozanam Team Tourney-Thornfield
9-8-East vs. West Team Championship (vary)
9-15 Tree Love Classic-Cliff Drive (C-Tier)
9-22/23-Big Shunga-Topeka (A-Tier)
9-22 Roc vs. Buzz-Swope
9-23 Ace Race-Swope
9-28 Paradise Diamond-Kearney/Smithville (C-Tier)
9-29 Paradise Diamond-Smithville (C-Tier)
9-29 Big Brothers Big Sisters-Thornfield
10-13 Rosedale Amateur Championship
10-20/21 Club Championships (TBD location)
10/28-CLUB ELECTIONS-????---
11-3 City of Fountains-Cliff & Blue Valley (C-Tier?)

Notable missing, Club Championship's.  The City Of Fountain's (Cliff Drive/Blue Valley) will be put on by DD at some point, I thought that the elections were to be at the first weekend of the month, so if I am stepping out of line here, I do apologize.

Can you think of any other events that are missing at this time from the list above?  I didn't include Emporia Open because I am working on what to put on the program for the Lion's Den, and since it is that day, I didn't....so not dissing, just working!  But if you don't know there is a PDGA event running against my birthday event in Emporia......for those of you that want competitive disc golf with all the rules and stuff, look at that option, the rest of you come out and have a good time at Cliff Drive.

Cliff Drive / Clean Up August 11th
« on: August 09, 2012, 10:16:20 AM »
Will be out at the course this weekend, working on making it shine for LDO.  I may also revisit the hole across the street from #12 for the LDO if time permits.

Hoping to accomplish the following:
Cleaning up #1 Green, and take out tree that has fallen
#2 clean up the green area, and take out tree ready to fall as you leave pad
#3 would like to remove J-Penis spray paint, and clear out the hillside and cliffs from honeysuckle
#4 mow and tidy up the fairway slightly
#5 mow off the pad area, and tidy up
#6 possibly work on the rock stairs out that someone already started!  thank YOU!!
Staging area, clean up around the area some more, spray rock with chemicals to beat down growth
#12 clear out in between treest
#13-raise the two trees close to the road just slightly as that is where the pin will be for LDO
Location marks for the Marquee

That should be about it.  Also if you have any expertise on fixing grill's, I want to figure out why the club's grill only has a trickle of heat when it is on full blast...aggravating!  >:(

Help if you can, this place is looking nice for it's birthday (August 20th 2004 is the day baskets were first planted), and the karma lords will smile upon you.

Cliff Drive / Clean Up August 4th
« on: July 25, 2012, 09:15:11 AM »
This will tie in very well with the Lions Den shortly following.  If you can help, all work would be appreciated, and we will be working primarily on the staging area.  If we have enough volunteers, maybe tackle the coming out from the woods on #6, if not, we will be focusing on the holes #7 and #8 clearing out to the rocks, and prepping the Mini Golf area.  There will be a little different layout this year for the regular golf to allow for the Triple xxx (mini style since we aren't using all of them) project, and BTW, we will need some volunteers to help with the scoring on the games if you can help!!

Thanks,

Jack

David - we have a 2nd Kessler Park clean-up scheduled for Sat Aug 4th at 8am.  One of our residents is bringing equipment and a large trailer so we can pull tires out of the reservoir and up from the cliffs along Reservoir Drive.  Could you provide trucks to pick up trash and brush either during or after clean-up?  When we did the spring clean-up, we had trucks for these plus tires and equipment for brush clearing.  Would love to make some more good progress on this project!

Please just let me know what will work!

Thank you!!
Jessica

Cliff Drive / League Results 7-9-10
« on: July 09, 2012, 10:16:22 PM »
Wellll.......There was no Prince Fielder Home Runs that interfered with our round tonight, but the Blimp was easily spotted many times flying above the course.  We had 11 people come out on a beautiful night.  I moved 6 baskets before the round, but was really ticked off as the Orange Basket on thie hill (#18) has apparently decided to go to somewhere it doesn't belong, because it isn't on the course......

With that being said, everyone out on the course seemed to have at least one 5 on the night, and they all varied on the hole that you got it on......Arturo got a 5 on #2, Jose on #13, I got 2 of them, one on #10, and the other on #17......
Here is how it balanced out though as we all played Open.
Jose Ossa-53=$14
Arturo Villarreal-56=$9
Jack Lowe-57=$7
Adam Cossette-58=$3
Ryan Westa-59
Scott Ostenfeld-60
TJ Ring-61
Kevin Smith-61
Michael Keizer-62
Nick Parks-62
Jake Dady-68

I have been amiss with the updates on the score, and asked Ryan to get me the information so I will try to update the information and post it before I head to Charlotte for Worlds.  Next week will be back at Cliff again, and Ryan should be running it.  I'll update the current pin settings above if you are curious.....

Thanks for reading!

Cliff Drive / weak sauce....
« on: June 25, 2012, 06:09:53 PM »
So I sit at Cliff Drive from 5:37 until 6:02 and not one shows up....looked like 2 casuals came in as I was elaving, but this is seriously weak sauce folks.

Next week is supposed to be Blue Valley.......I will probably be out of town.....at least that is a real reason to miss league.

I guess that I won the CTP tix to English beat for tonight as well, by simply bothering to show up!

Off to Knuckleheads........

Man weak people, weak.....
