So we need to build boxes for the pads and get them level.  When is a good time for people to help, Sat/Sun, M-F, what can you do to help build this?  Once the pads are in I will get the signs in almost as fast.  They are already here, we need to develop a template for them, but should be good.

Water Works / Entrance Closed
« on: April 04, 2008, 03:17:09 pm »
Please see the following from the P&R

Larry,

Thanks for the notice below on the road closure at the Waterworks Park
Entrance due to construction. We will copy others so that they are aware of
this temporary closure.

Michael R. Herron, CPRP
North Region Manager

    From: Larry Kilgore
    Sent: 04/03/2008 10:25 AM CDT
    To: Michael Herron
    Cc: April McCrary; Louis Cummings
    Subject: Waterworks Park

FYI,
Leath and Sons (My curb and walk contractor) is working at Waterworks
installing curb. They have tracked mud onto the entrance and created a
dangerous situation coming down the hill from the parking lot towards N.
Main. Because of the rain and the mud, I gave them permission to close off
the road from the top of the hill (Park users can come off of N. Oak and go
to the parking lot) but can not continue around and down the hill towards
N, Main.
If the rain increases and washes down the road, or when the contractor gets
it cleaned up, we'll re-open the road.

Just a heads up in case you get any calls.

Swope / Swope Dog Park
« on: April 02, 2008, 02:28:50 pm »
I heard a rumor about talk of a dog Park, and asked the Manager of the region for Swope if that is happening.

Response is as follows:

If the Dog Park Task Force considers Swope Park for a dog park, we would work
with them to identify a viable location. One location that has only briefly been
discussed is where the old gravel lot is north of the Maintenance Compound - at
the north end of Elmwood. Another possible location could be at 69th and
Cleveland. No real decisions. NO current programmed areas would ever be
displaced for a fenced off-leash area, if you are worried about the Disc Golf
Course!!!

The Disc Golf Course is not in jeopardy. We all see it as an incredible
asset in Swope Park.

Marci Jones
KCMO Parks and Recreation, South Region Manager

so there you have it.....

Pleasant Hill / Please Pay Attention of your actions
« on: March 25, 2008, 10:46:51 am »
Rosedale, #16&#17 come to mind, as does Pleasant Hill and the yard that states don't get your disc......this is all to common, and it comes from the actions of a few.  Please leave your favorite piece of plastic in the yard, and either go knock on the door after the round, or buy a replacement......hence why you should always carry 2 of your favorite discs.....

Club Archives / Committees Started
« on: March 19, 2008, 09:37:54 am »
Thanks for  all of those in attendance last night.  One of the hot priorities is to start to form committees to help with the overall  components of the event.  I am going to start this thread here, and those people on the committees will also join the worlds discussion group that we will be starting.

As of today this is what we are looking at for the Committees so far:

Public Relations/Volunteers-Open

Sponsorship-Jack Lowe

Competition/Courses-John Chapman

Hospitality/Entertainment-Becky Stebbins

Medical-Vicki Keck

Communication/Media/Print-Open

Juniors/Bussing-Open

Merchandise/Art-Rick Rothstein

Webthings-Chris Timko

THe open slots are available to those people that we feel would do the job well.  If you feel as though one of these fields align with what you would like to do to help, I encourage you to get a hold of the person leading the charge.

We will be meeting at River Market on Monday April 21 @ 7:30 PM, and again on Monday May 19th @ 7:30.  Meetings are not to last longer than an hour if at all possible!!

Thanks,

Jack
