Tournaments / Re: Sun Burn Open July 6th
« on: June 23, 2008, 12:11:47 pm »
I sent in the agreement over a month ago.  I never received the online link, though Todd indicates that he sent it.  I sent it back to them last week, and it is still not active as of today.

My thoughts are that we do not do online at all, but I will take registration at leagues, and day of.  I do not anticipate it filling up, holiday w/e middle of summer vacations, etc....so I am not really going to worry about it at this time.

If I get enough response that dictates warranting a list in pre-reg I will do so, but I am not planning on it.

I also plan on working at Cliff Drive a lot over the next few weeks, and really do not plan on working that hard towards this event.

I want everyone to come out, have fun and play!!

It is also closer to Work for me, but this thread seems so unfair to me!!
 ;D

Lets see, it is 5 minutes to Olathe, and 30 to Cliff Drive......well then I am 5 minutes from home, or 35 minutes from home at the end of the round......

Guess since I decided to run it, I need to be there!

It still forces the shot, it just gives a little better option now to make it happen for everyone.  It is still a big annie shot for rights, and lefties have a better line now.

Proabably so, that way your 70 will not feel as painful as I dominate the round accordingly.

Currently in my head.
 ;D

Hopefully we will not need to use them, but we need to have options, and another could be Hidden Valley....

At this time there are no plans to use a course that is not in the ground for the Worlds.  I would prefer to use existing courses only for the Worlds.

That is not to say that it will not be used, but at this point there are no plans to use it, so this publication is incorrect in their comments.

As it stands right now these courses are a go:
Swope
Rosedale
Olathe
Waterworks
WyCo
Cliff Drive
Blue Valley

Those courses that are being considered:
Down Under
Shawnee Mission Park
Swope North
Penn Valley

Those that may become options:
Pleasant Hill
Gillham Park
Lees Summit

This list is subject to change.

Thanks for the heads up, I will send a note to Steve asking about this.

Not true,

There have been leagues at Cliff Drive, a PDGA event at Cliff Drive, and the Bushwhackers league at Cliff Drive, so there are plenty of stats for Cliff Drive.

Now we still need more people to come play out there though!!

Cliff Drive / Re: Cliff Drive-Bringing back Monday Night League!
« on: June 23, 2008, 08:59:58 am »
Just a reminder that league is back on at Cliff Drive on Mondays starting tonight.  Teeing off at 6 is the plan.

I was out there yesterday and got to clean up holes #1-3, 3 needs more work, well hell they all need more work, but that is another story for the CC that is supposed to be out there  ???

#1's green is sweet, I took out 2 trees that shold allow the mowers to get in there more regularly, and I went ahead and took out the #8 tree off the pad, but broke my chainsaw in the process, so it is lying in the middle of the stairs walking down.  I want to take that out, and the dead tree that is right next to the pad.

I worked until I broke a mower, which seems to be the case for Cliff drive work days, but #1, #2, look pretty good, need to get some more cleared up to the west on #2, #3 just needs help.

Hopefully tonight before league we can spray the area around #1, and start to target holes before each league with the help of those playing, and then it should be pretty easy sailing.

I doubt that we will ever get holes #4-6 to be part of the regular mowing cycle, so they will always need disc golf love, but I am hopeful that as we open up some of the other areas, that mowers will start to be able to clean and maintain the effoerts that we have put forward.

Thanks,

Jack

I plan on working at Cliff Drive on w/e of the 28th, and 4th, I would like to spray all the holes on the 28th, and then come in on the 5th and clean it up, so don't take all my helpers.

I don't think I was being sesquipedalian, it is not a long word, it does not have many syllables.  By your comment, I feel as though you were being sesquipedalian

NOt that Buckle doesn't do a good job, but I always have issues with someone else volunteering another person, then putting their phone # out there is a whole other issue.  I think that to get that type of info, you should go into a private message.

Water Works / Re: outta towner gonna get 1st play on waterworks 6-19
« on: June 20, 2008, 10:18:29 am »
perceptions in all disc golf courses are never good.  Typically we have gone into parks that are not in good repair, and used appropriately when in an urban setting.  That is part of our good graces that allow us to be in the park, and have some great city views and wonderful lands to play on.

Also police regularly patrol Blue Valley, by patrol car, 4-wheeler, and helicopter.  It has more police in it than any other park that there is disc golf course in.

Spend an afternoon out there and see how many squad cars roll through.

We are making a difference, and we need to be aware that in any urban environment you need to be cautious, but you shouldn't allow it to scare you away.

whatever, I have never been mugged or shot at while playing Blue Valley alone, or working in it.
