$102.00 in total....$6 per week...$5 goes to the weekly prize, and $1 goes
to the overall prize.

I would prefer to get the entire season paid up front, as it makes my life

/quote: Install framed wood chip boxes in front of every tee.

Sounds ok, but extremely expensive.

/quote: Tees - several at Rosedale need to be resurfaced (i.e. hole 1).

ABSOLUTLEY NOT.  The pad is there for a reason, we are not changing the rules of the game.  All of the tee pads at Rosedale were redone within the last 5 years, why would they need to be redone?

Cliff Drive / Adopt a hole-looking for you to help
« on: August 27, 2008, 01:39:07 pm »
I am looking for people to adopt a hole or 2.  You would be helpful in getting things ready to put pads in, and making it more accesible for mowers to keep clean.  We are starting to make great strides there, pads are going in soon (I want them sooner than you trust me).

Looking for people to help with the following holes/fairways.
#1-clean the area from the new teeing area to the old teeing area.  Then starting to work on the alternate pin settings which ties into
#2, clean out area to walk to pad from new pin areas, and down along hillside to make more manageable and possibly mow worthy down to fairway existing.  Would like to clear out all honeysuckle up to road.
#3, clean up the cliff side all the way to the top..
#4 keep it cleaned up, start heading NW from lower fairway to clean up for errant shots, possible LONG placement in woods to North of existing long placement.
#5 grow grass, and clean up top area.  WOuld like to have another pin on the North end where (those of you remember the troubled bridge) we used to tee from.
#6 Maintenance, hillside to the West clean it up and make accessible to mowers.
#7 Clean the hillside from the existing pin, clean out deeper to create a longer shot, keep the cliffs clear, and able to use.
#8 clean up the area off the pad to the "stage"
#9 clean up the area that Brandt did that no one has touched since.  Work on a longer setting in the woods about 50' away from the existing pin, but very technical.

That would get us started.  Looking for about 20  people, figure it takes 2 people per hole and I will help where I can.

Let me know what hole is yours!!

Do not drink too much as City of Fountains is the next day.  Rick, I think that Chappy and I are in, so we will gladly support DGW, do you ahve shirts our team can wear, or shall we go as Team Bells?

Cliff Drive / League Results 8/25
« on: August 26, 2008, 12:38:51 pm »
Well, we had 9 show up tonight that enjoyed some good golf.  The course was still looking good from the LDO, and the scores didn't.......

Only my card with Rick and Dick did not manage to have someone in the hunt as there was a 3 way tie for 1st....then cam Arturo back with his bag, and cash in hand, as the others tried to take the playoff without their bags.....after a battle in futility they finally succumbed and agreed to split the remainder......

Andrew Jewett-57
Brian Gammon-57
Pete Cashen-59
Dick Parker-59
Rick Rothstein-62
Jack Lowe-62
Mark Morales-64 (ANd not late.....)
Steve Hostetler-73

I'll be out there on Monday, would like to start a little early this next lets shoot for 5:30 if we can with the holiday, if no one plans on attending, start letting me know, I can find other things to do!!

Club Archives / Art work? Who wants to do the courses?
« on: August 25, 2008, 10:55:04 am »
I need to have maps created that are similar for all the courses.  Who wants to create this type of art work?  I would need to have examples, and would want all the courses to be available:
Rosedale-Top and Bottom
Water Works
Cliff Drive
Blue Valley
Shawnee Mission Park
Pleasant Hill
Lees Summit
Lake Lenexa (2x)
Swope North
Penn Valley Park

Start by letting me know you are interested.

Beginners / Re: disc advise
« on: August 25, 2008, 10:51:25 am »
The best advice I could give a beginner is to stop reading what these guys are writing then get out and practice!!!

2-3 weeks of practice and you'll be whipping up on further., I would've thought that after a few days one would achieve that status!

BTW, I love APX, XL, and Valk's, another great mid range that doesn't get the love it deserves is the Aurora MS (QMS, SMS models will work).  I first started throwing those about 10 years ago now, and they don't leave my bag.  When I travel (not to play disc golf but always carry discs cuz you never know) I tend to take the following, CE Valkyrie, QMS, APX or Classic Roc.  I can play any course with these discs and play them well.....

They don't make the first discs that I played with but after you find a disc that you play well with, buy many of them so you can replace them as they get stuck in trees, lost int he road, hit a tree and crack.....

Cliff Drive / Re: League 8/18 (Chappy & Rick's Bday!!)
« on: August 22, 2008, 03:24:29 pm »
HOw is that wrong.  I used 1200 main for KCMO, and 7th and Minneosota for KCK, Cliff Drive is at Lexington and Wabash, and Rosedale is at 4300 Mission Road......the math speaks for itself.  I am correct!

And I am outta here (Best Dennis Miller impersonation that I can do!)

See you all tomorrow!

Cliff Drive / Re: City leaders have "plan" for Cliff Drive reservoir
« on: August 22, 2008, 03:00:01 pm »
I actually proposed a plan to use the front (north end) as an amphitheater, and the back (south) end as kids soccer fields, with bleahers and then a gradual escalation to the area that is 16, 17, 18.

The area has too many people that play soccer to ignore.  Maple park is already used a soccer fields, but adult driven.  I would prefer that we have it as a kids venue, but lord only knows how much graffiti would happen in that area.

Trash is still a concern there, but if we brought in more activities, it would bring in other groups to help outsied of our tireless efforts, and the couple times of year where we focus on trash removal.
