just stand tall and pay attention next time.....there was more than one person in your all shoulda paid for some attention, but then we'd have to raise league fees to $20

I left my CE Valk's with someone elses name down there, I think I left about 6 of them.... ;D

Good use of the discs Rick, thanks again for all that you do for our sport in town.  We are spoiled to have you here and as a resource for disc golf, I think many people don't eralize how lucky we got it.

You make KC Golf better, like it or not, its true.

Green?  I think that is the only thing Demian found at league on Monday when he spent about 20 minutes looking for a couple of discs....he thought his first one went in (it didn't) so his provisional he had the brains of a horse, and thought he'd throw a forehand over the reservoir to the green (its only about 450' away, no run up, no problem right?) anywho, he went to look for his lost discs, and then came out with one, but I don't remember it may have been white.

I'll Take APX's that people do not want!

Weird night with the weather, but it was all good in my book....of course I am biased.  The course looked great, a little dark with the weather, but we made it through.

Well, I just went down to Tower Tavern to register. They looked at me like I was smokin Crack, and told me they did not know anything about it. I'd stick to Disc Golf World for registering.

                                      Critter :P

Yeah it was the disc golf that made them think that about you.......

Is that what you called for saturday?  I was dead tired from the work day.

some one a few yearsa ago gave us a bunch from down by the P&R shop, for gratis, we made a tee-sign for the copmany, they were a clothing company I think......Free is better than $100, but if that's what it takes......

those arguments would be moot.

We all know the answer, its just that some people don't live here..... ;D

Coolio.  I will see if I can get out there some time maybe before the Solstice....but I am not sure about that right now with Family obligations.....

I would like to thank all the people that came out to help this weekend with some of the work that needs to be done at Cliff Drive, in particular the holes in the woods.  Having a wooded course requires work and maintenance, and its tough to do with our busy life styles for sure.  That being said, we did accomplish quite a bit, left some items out there to do, but have a good handle on what we will need to work on before the Worlds.  I will probably get league started tonight then head down to #5's green and start to clean it up as it was about the only hole that did not get touched. #6 didn't as well, but getting down in there tonight should be a leg up.

Its tough to not just be a "user" but also a worker on the park.  Those of you that do just use, nothing wrong with it, but a little help from time to time, will help you find your disc more often, and improve your chances with the Karma Gods, and the trees talk to each other often......they travel from park to park through bird crap...... ;D

Friday morning came around and Jim Sherwood was waiting for me to get things moving.  Jim and I started on #2, the back of the green, and then worked our magic towards #3.
Mike Keizer
Jim Sherwood
Frank Macaluso
Bret Long

All helped to really impact the entire hole of #3.  We chopped, sprayed, pulled, mowed, removed and cleaned up the trail out on the short side (those of you throwing to the right on the #2 will be happier) and on the rest of the area.  We tackled quite a bit and made a great showing on the hole.

Saturday morning came around and it was all hands on deck.

I am forgetting people I know.....

Anyway we tackled the big project known as the Cliff Restoration.  The trail leading from #7-#8 pad was cleaned and ready to have mulch brought in.  The front of the pad on #8 was wiped clean of the honeysuckle and is greatly improved on the visual and the ease of identifying lost discs.  This is also just something that the people in the neighborhood that love the land really enjoy.  The pile was not as big as the first time we tried to clean it up, but we got it deeper this time, and I'll spray the area a few times to ensure that we get no new growth.  It looks awesome.  After we finished with this project we headed to #4 where Tom had a personal mission to find his Roc from the day before.  He found it.  We cleared up and made tidy the greens and did some damage on the hillside, but the hill was very wet.  I will try to spray out some of the area there as well.  We also cleaned up quite a bit to the left of the stairs, so if you hit the tree and go left, it should be easier to find.  We started to create a new longer pin (long pin currently about 85' behind it on a slight hillside).  Then we called it a day,  I was poopered from the previous day and didn't feel the best.

Sunday saw the following crew take names and kick some more of the courses arse.

Lefty2 and Keizer took the tram down to 4 and cleaned up a bunch of debris and continued to clean out the new pin area.  Jack and Penny started to work on cleaning up #1's green.  Well once you start its hard to finish.  So we kept at it, cutting the honeysuckle, and weed trees and the walls of vines out and then trying to cut the stalks low enough to miss with Dan's ankle, and then good enough for the mowers to start to mow.  When we finally got done, Dan's truck was outta juice, but Mike and I weren't.  We cleaned up quite a bit along the opening of #1, and opened the corner.  You really just need to get to the start of the hill, and can almost see the basket from there now.  Eventually I want to be able to see the basket from the pad on #1, with temptations of a simple wooded shot, but no real chance to hit it unless you are SUPER lucky.

What I feel still needs to be done:
Tee pads (was told Friday the concrete has been ordered, and should be finished this week.....Yeah' I've heard it before, and I told them that we wouldn't be making any piles of debris.....that much......but hey give and take......)  I have a meeting tomorrow night with them again about this, and will hold their feet to the fire as this is a community meeting, this group supports us, wanted to know why the pads were not done by the wide open, they were there watching, and shocked that it wasn't done.  Until I told them that I was waiting on the city.....

#1-clean up the old teeing area, and then continue to monitor and maintain.  Spray the part(pit) right off the pad to prevent any growth.

#2-clean up the left side heading down towards the basket

#3-trail from #2, clean all the way up the hill side, keep on keeping on there.  No plans for a new pin before worlds, but look at alternates afterwards.

#4-hillsides need haircuts.

#5-Green's on both placements, and then to the North (right from the pad) to where we used to tee off back in the day before baskets were anchored.

#6-clean out the trail from #7 pin to the pad, and then clean up the front end of the fairway.  Take out the tree that is down, and maintain the area.

#6 to #7-stairs out-finish the stairs out and clean up all around the area for better access to all.

#7-Clean up the greens in the woods.  Leaving some trouble on the grassy section to prevent long arms from throwing all the way there and having a shot at an easy 2.  If they get lucky, sure, but otherwise force people to drive through the first wooded hole to get to the next one.

#7 to #8-trail-get mulch and spray it to death.

#8-there are a few stragglers of honeysuckle on the cliff that need to come down.  I may try to accomplish that today as well when I get home before league.  Relatively small.  Clean up the area around the stage and weed whack it some more.  Not really worried about the long placement right now, but it could use some clearing all around it.

#9-just trimming closer to the edge would be a nice touch.

#10-cleaning or thinning out the woods and edging the deeper placements

#11-spraying and killing everything along the reservoir fence.  All around it (probably not before World's but would be very nice.....)

#12-Clean up to the right.....other items too far out in advance to discuss, but a trail to Prospect Point would be ideal.

I want to put trash cans at the following locations.  If you have access to them, let me know and we will get them to the City to paint.  These locations should work to minimize our efforts of collecting trash, and still maintaining a clean park.  Please remember to pack out what you pack in.  I would also love to have a recycle can at hole #1 for CANS ONLY.

#3 or #4 (existing)
#5 by Chestnut

That’s about every other hole, so if you have access to the 55 gallon metal drums, let me know.

As for now, I am not sure when the next workday will be, but I will keep you posted.  Really a lot of what we need to do is maintain, and keep it down, by playing more on the course, and stepping on the new parts exposed, you are helping.  We could throw a bunch of grass seed down as well....but its the wrong time of year....still if you wanna help on this course getting ready for the worlds, just follow the list.  You don't need me to tell you what needs to be done, but I can help get you what you need if you can't find it.

Let me know, and people thanks so much for all the help this weekend.  I would ask that each of you come take a look, but then that requires time away from the computer.....and can you do that?

I also want to thank in particular all of the former Course Coordinators for coming out and lending some help.  It is nice to see so many people really enjoy making the course good for everyone.  Yeah we work on it for the 1000+ people this summer, but when they are gone about a week later, guess what, we have another GREAT park to add to the line up of where to play.  That'll take some of that waiting around on groups out of the equation!
