They will also be replacing curbing and addressing some more of the park issues, this will take place hopefully throughout the spring.

Westin Crown Center will be the Host hotel for the 2009 Pro/Am Worlds.

Located in the heart of downtown Kansas City, Crown Center is often called a city within a city. Three levels of great shopping and dining compliment two of the city’s most luxurious hotels, exquisite office buildings, a residential community and several entertainment attractions. It all surrounds the worldwide headquarters of Hallmark Cards, Inc. Bring your family and your imagination for an unforgettable visit to Crown Center.

You will need to ask for the Disc Golf Rate (Kansas City Flying Disc Club or Disc Golf World Championships should suffice), the dates that we have blocked for the Hotel are from Sunday July 26 to Sunday August 02, 2009.

The Host hotel will have the following plus many more items of fun and entertainment as we get it all together:

Check In and registration

Players Meeting

Fly Mart

Tournament Central

PDGA (Banquet?) Awards

It is an awesome property, there is a mall connected, there is the museum across the street, and many other amenities.  Ask for the Disc Golf Rate during this time, I believe that you will all enjoy a high class of standard that will truly create an experience of WOW!

The room rate is $134 night for single or doubles, and suites are $350 and up.  The normal room rate right now for the property is $289/night, you will not be dissapointed.

Sign up now, and do not miss the chance to be a part of the best worlds ever.

More information will be provided as we move forward, I just wanted to get this information out for those that have asked.  Yes I have received about 10 calls already asking me about this information.

Dates are set, hotel is set.

Many items still need to be worked on!

Watch this forum for more information on the planning stages!!

I personally would like to see us emulate an actual "league" on Wednesdays.  You buy in for $50, 12 week league, random partners every time, and rotate locations every week.  Payout would be at the end of the league, but you could also have a side pot at each league of $2 towards a nightly payout, or CTP each night, then also an ace fund seperate of each league, or have teh league ace fund carry over at each course......i dunno, I played in quite a few leagues the last few years with my travels, and there are some good ideas.  Our leagues are cool, because it is an instant payoff, but with the rewards of playing longevity this could be a cool idea, and one that we could seperate into 2 seasons, spring and Fall, and skip the hot parts of June July and August if planned correctly.....

talk about off thread....

What I am trying to say is that it is going to happen, and unless we come up with something like this type of league, we will never end up getting to know others throughout the area.  Des Moines is a traveling league on Tuesdays, they play in Indianola, Grandview, Big Creek, WW......every tuesday, but it is random draw every tuesday, with a handicap based on rounds scoring.

In the PAST,

Monday -rosedale/olathe

Thursday WW/Rosedale

Friday Wyco/Traveling skins

So there has been a long history of multiple events on days, just because it is not that way now, does not mean that Olathe has been singled out.  The reality is that we need to do something different to get everyone together for this type of league, or change things altogether with how leagues are ran in KC.  They are really "mini's" not leagues, and therefore if you CHOOSE to go to OLATHE on monday, these other decisions may not impact your choices.

I don't know maybe we shouldn't have options for people to think about, I mean all the disc golfers must live by Cliff Drive and Olathe only right?

There has not been a decision yet to move cliff drive to Saturday, that is a request by the current CC.  Makes sense to me if we can get more people out there.  As a league Cliff Drive was hosting ~6-9 people, most of these people WOULD NOT DRIVE THE 30-40 MINUTES from the course to Olathe.....thus why we agreed that Monday would not interfere with Olathe league.  We didn't get the feeling that it would even affect the New PLayers League.....still don't

New Players League......FREE.....ROSEDALE......Get people involved with the league play and understand the club does more.  THis is typically not a person that wants to go pay for league, but would rather determine if league play is an option......

Olathe-Very good league ran by good people, well attended, and not sure why your comment about the step child thing  Olathe has its own community, and seems to be doing well, but with over 11 courses in the area it is going to see some overlap, especially as more courses get closer to home.  This idea that Chris is bringing up could be a "super league" in time, and may need to move, but initally Monday seems to be the best day based on the responses.  Weekends IMHO would die from tournament play so it has to be a weekday, and what abuot SM Park, what about Lee Summit, what about Parkville, what about........With as many courses, and players out there, we need to offer more than the single option, of leagues, and venues on realistically everyday in my book.

But these are just my random thoughts.

Ummmm.....This needs to be approved by the board before it is an "official" change, but that could happen next meeting.

Tee pads...duh....
See above
Ok, what else we really need at Cliff Drive.
1-New teeing area out of the bottom of the bowl, clear out the trees W of tee pad #2 for the practice basket area and alternate pin placement.
1(b)-Clear out the trees around the basket, pull the dead and hanging branches off, clean it up all around, it is beautiful.
1(c)-continue to clear out to the South of the current placement to create better mowing paths, and help nurture a better natural look of the area, but not having all the honeysuckle.

2-New stairs down the path, continue to remove honeysuckle up the hill, clear out to the road to ease views and allow to prevent and deter illegal dumping.
2(b)-Get trees that we have been cutting out of there, and then also get more honeysuckle new growth out.

3-Continue to remove honeysuckle out, get the side of the hill cleared of tree debris, continue around the corner, up top, Urgh, this hole looks great without all the greenery around it, but we need to work to continue to get all the honeysuckle off the side to maek it gorgeous!

4-Work the valley folks get rid of the downed trees

5-Need better stairs to get up hill, continue to clear out the hillside, and then up top, lets see if we can get the area completely clear again up there as it was back in 2003 with a plan and the old remember......Ok, clear the top area all around where the baskets are.

6-Surprisingly, this is at a point to clear downed trees, and maintain the area, remove honeysuckle and look at alternate place area, up by the BIG downed tree, or down towards road, but looks good.  Stairs out on #6-#7, we are close to being done with the railroad ties, but need to get the last little portion taken care of.

7-Teeing area needs to be done.  Deeper pin placement, and clear out the entire area to the road, so that as you drive it will expose the rock, and allow us to visually see more of the park, this includes the hillside towards the basket currently, as well as getting all the hoeysuckle out for the rocks to be nmore exposed.

Path to 8 from 7, needs to be "cleaned" mowers will get it if we can get it set up right.....

8-Need to get all the honeysuckle and weeds S of pad towards the rock out, clear out more of the hillside (ongoing) to the E, and of course the Tee pad area, and we want to keep the "party area" as pristine as we can, this is a nice place in our course, lets make it the best.
8(b) hillside towards #10 basket needs to constantly have honeyusuckle taken out.

9-Keep area clear of honeyshuckle, going towards water, lets continue to work on it accordingly, could put a new pin placement in the woods, on slight peninsula about 45' from current location.....will need to clear out more there though for sure.

10-Clear out behind on deep placement, and towards #8 basket on the hillside.  This should also be a target to clear out towards the new #1 teeing and checkin area that needs to be worked on.

11-Tee pad, some trees.

12-Too long to list, starts with No Parking signs though in my garage, trash removal on the hillside....trash removal on the hillside, possible a new pin placement on the hillside, will need extra thoughts on that one though.......

14-Clean up the trees, and get the dead tree out.

15-Remove Left placement, and move to the big tree on the right behind it.

1-10 are the big items, and realitically 1, 10, 8 is an area that needs it, 2&3 need it, #5 area up top needs it, #7 deeper needs it, and #8 S needs it.  If I were to prioritize:
1-Tee pad and trail on #1 lets get this course going.
2-Stairs on all areas (2, 5, 6)
3-Honeysuckle and trees on #1, 2, 3.

That should take about 80-120 hours.  What day works for you to get started on this?

Workdays haev been at the Down Under the day before.  I would encourage you to talk with Jay, and get some of that work done, gasp, prior to the DUI would be great.  The firts thing that comes to my mind is removal of the trash down there, then some charging of the pads, and building of the benches, fixing the stairs on #16.....bridge on #8......And the band played on......

With daylight as it stands now Adrea, the baskets will not move to the long position.  Once daylight savings kicks in, then moving the pins may make sense.

It will change a little bit, especially when they dry up the water, it will evolve, but it should be minimal.  The thing that we did not want to do was have it all long, so a good mixture was the deciding factor.

They have had many inputs from myself, and others since our meeting in last year.

I don't know who this Jaeger character is, but I have never seen him at my house.......and Brian must be remembering Emporia, where I may have had a few Rebel Yells about Jaeger Bombs, but that was noly until the hotel staff asked me to go to bed......

Legacy Park is also been a work in progress for some time with input from many sources.  The inital plan of Pottberg fell through, and the City in conjunction with the club members and local residents knew that an area needed to be accomplished, and they worked on this plan.  The city has whole heartedly accepted the desire of the citizens to make this a reality, and in turn are working fast on the development.

It should also be pointed out that they want to have this course available to be used in the Worlds, so even though the City is the driving force behind this, they have a goal to help out, where the club had already been pushing forward.
