I'm outta the state this weekend, so I regret I will not be able to run the 4th annual 4th of July Superclass Showdown.  But somebody should definitely jump in and take over.

If you build it, they will come....

Also, Joe has been captain for 2 years now. That's it. Tracy was the captain before that.

West Side Captains:
2012 - Cooper
2013 - Tracy
2014 - Initially Dick. Joe took over the last few weeks because Dick was overwhelmed with KCWO. But the three of us worked together formulating a plan leading up to the match-up process. However, Joe is listed as (C) on the trophy
2015 - Joe
2016 - Joe

Good clarification.  Forgot about that in 2014.

Here's the data.  West should win based on ratings.  But those aren't everything and east-side needed only 3.5 matches out of a total of 32 competed.
West Side                                          East Side
Clemons         1008                            Mike Murphy   985
Arturo             994                             Eastwood        976
Justin 2names 983                             Matt Perry       973*
Isaac H.          983                             Shanan C.       973*
Cory Sharp      983                            CD Steiner       972
Cooper A.        977                            Jose O.            967
Jake Lazzo       976                            Tyler Mattoon  966
Joe Hesting      971                            Jordan H.        959
Bobby V          969                             Fred Smith      959
Kevin Zane      967                             Mike T.           959
Peter B            965                             Jake B.           952
Mark Wisbey    957                             Dresser          950*
Kelly Babbit     957                             Jamie L.         949
Dick P.            953                             GI Dave         938*
Kitz                 950                            CJ Hucke        932
Lee K.             946                             Kevin M.        931
Kaleb Martin    946                             Zeke H.         927
Matt Jenkins    932                             Ryan K.         923*
Stracke           927                             Travis T.        909
Liz                  788                             Tavish           851
Average          956                                                 947

Here is my explanation of the last 4 years and it's not about ratings, but it may be indirectly resulted from that data.   West side has more players that play in PDGA tournaments.  East side has 5 players that are not current in the PDGA and don't play in tournaments (marked as *).  Also, I know myself and Mike Murphy have played in only 1 tournament (each) this year.  East side that's not enough.  We need to play more tournaments.

The other reason that I think the west side has won the last 4 is that Joe H. has had 4 years of setting up these matches and has the most experience doing it.  The east side has had a new captain each year.

And finally, Thanks Joe and Zeke.  You guys did great.

A few things wrong with these thoughts. First off, Shanon, GI, Perry,  and Dresser are a few of your strongest competitors. They are ones we have to match up against carefully. Also, Joe has been captain for 2 years now. That's it. Tracy was the captain before that.

Don't cheat me.  That was my 3rd.  Tracy had 2012-2013, I have had 2014-2016.  And I guess I will continue as long as I am wanted.  I enjoy the work even though I find less and less time each year.  You should put Jake Bowen back in charge of the East, for 1) He has experience and a win, and 2) I would really enjoy working with him, and especially enjoy beating him :o

But if someone else wants the Captaining of the West, I will step down and work in the background as a consultant.

I do love this event more than any other, and I love all my Missouri friends just as much as my Kansas ones.  Thank you all for the fun competition, and I will get the 2012 Missouri champs moved back to the front of the trophy!

P.S.  Maybe next year you should go back to your home, Waterworks.  The only place you win.

And quit playing so many best-shot doubles over there.  Start working on your singles game:)
