I will likely follow the 6-6-4 qualifying format as well, with 6 spots selected at the Rosedale Open.

As for course selection, we should be playing at a course that plays to the EAST SIDE's strengths, and I have a few ideas on that front.  However, that discussion should take place in a more private setting.  :-X

First of all, keep your Qualifiers in your own state.

Secondly, Heritage and Lakeside are bluff moves to get you to go practice them.  Meanwhile, we will be practicing on our own private temp course, that will only be revealed to Least-siders on tee-time.  ;D

Last.....what strengths?

No way on the Thursday, Friday , Saturday nonsense. Most of us aren't jobless touring pros.

3 days, 4 rounds,  is my vote.

Pro pool
Friday Lakeside tee times
Saturday WW 2 times
Sunday Swope and final 9

Also,  I believe there are a lot of people that would like to earn a spot to play in this thing, and only 16 spots available.  So, if there is enough interest from women and juniors on both sides, I vote we just add 4 extra spots and play 20 vs 20.  But I am not going to go out recruiting women and kids.  If you want to play, speak up.

But remember ladies, this is not just a casual day on the course with the gals.  This is Blue vs. Black, West vs. East, Kansas vs. Missouri....where winning is everything.

If I get the job of leading the west side again, this is what I would suggest for West Side Qualifying.  You East siders can fill your team however you want.

16 players - 4 alternates

6 spots given to Top 6 finishers at Kan-U-Wyco or Rosedale Open, TBD.

6 spots given to Lowest scores at one chosen league on the Kansas side, TBD.

4 spots given at a last chance Qualifier, open to all west side participants.  But will be played in Match-play format.  Names drawn from hat and put into Bracket.  9-hole Matches.  Winners move on until there remain only 4.  Course TBD.

4 Captains picks.

All 12 Qualifiers from the first 2 qualifying events are guaranteed to play all 3 rounds of Team Challenge, unless they can't play or want to sit out a round.  The 4 Captains picks and last 4 qualifiers will get to play at least 1 round and up to 3.  It wasn't a problem on our team last year, but I believe some East siders were pretty bummed that they qualified and didn't get to play all 3.  This will make it easier for the Captain to ask people to sit out a round.

I know you are all going to throw out opinions on how the last chance match-play qualifier would be hard to work.  And causes a headache.  But it would be my headache if I was running it.  I believe it would be fun for players to have to win those last spots by a different format than just low score.  And besides, anyone can beat anyone in Match-play, as we seen Jake Bowen beat me in the singles round  :o

Saturday alternate shot course on the Kansas side:

Heritage Park (If finished)
or
Lakeside

1st weekend in June was a pretty solid weekend last year to run this event.  Hope that works again.

Any scores on this?  Who was crowned the DU Kingpin for the day?

Thomas Park in Salina has a Sunday league with an ace pool around 2200 bucks

Looking back through Salina's forum, I found the reason why their Ace Pot is so high.  They only pay $300/ace.  They do not give 1/2 the pot.

There has been 2 aces hit this year, and the starting ace fund was around $2350.  It looks like the ace fund will stay in the $2000's for a long time, and maybe make it to $3000.  But $300 is all you will get.

Aced Hole 7 at the Thomas Park Open in 2012 with a magnet.  Hole 6 was aced by Jared Kinsel about a minute later, taking half my money >:(

I'd say there are really only 6 holes that are ace-able.  (3,6,7,9,13,15)  All the other holes, it would be the shot of a lifetime, with a lot of luck involved.

Any team leader for the East that gets Tanya Harding (played by Jack) to bash the knee caps of Nancy Kerrigan (played by Joe) with a bat I will vote for.

I vote for Babbitt to play the part of Nando Parrado and the whole east team to throw so many bad shots that they become lost in the rough, and in order to stay alive(and make it back to the fairway), they must eat each other...starting with Jack.

The captain sets the events that set the team. So no, you have to pick your captain first. And I think that Joe Hesting should run our team again.

I would love to coach this team to a 3-peat.

West Side Dynasty!

And I believe we bleed Royal blue on this side, Jack.  No red involved.

Results?

Wish I could have made it, but it was family pumpkin patch day.

Jordan and I were talking about some side action.

How's another 20$ sound for whoever wants more action?

We can do $5 of each $20 for skins,  other $15 to bonus payout, for whomever wants in. Payout top 25%

Example:

Get 10 people in, pay 50$ towards skins, Pay top 3 scores $ 75, $50, $25

 Ideas?
What Jordan you been talking to? I didnt sign up for side action...

Sounds like some dirty politics.  False Advertising.  Stamping Jordan's honest name on money schemes.

Either way, if I am able to play that day...I'll take your cash :o

I had a big long diatribe written out in response to kidmills but decided against it.

Instead I'll say this: Thank you Eric for making sure that all of these extra events go well. Thank you for donating your time, energy, effort, and personal funds to continue ensuring that KC has one of the most active and best DG clubs in the country. Thanks for wrangling volunteers to make sure that regional tournaments and events remain the best in the midwest. Thanks for everything else you do that I've certainly neglected.
^^^Word. Heaven forbid you go play another of the 30
area courses that don't have ONE HOLE that has a pin in the wrong spot.

First world problems.
hey thanks to who ever was in charge of the buzz vs rock,i'm sure it was a great event but next time PUT THE BASKETS BACK INTO A PLAYABLE POSTION  ie hole 12 was in 11 longs placement ,easy shot but i would rather play one of the placements set for hole 12..............................SMH
thats just plain piss poor bulls***,if your going to do something goofy at least put the basket back to a playable placement, somebody dropped the ball on this one, went a whole week with it being there
just so you know patrick was here today and moved it back.......THANK YOU patrick, for covering for whoever dropped the ball on moving the basket back

three eloquently composed posts in less than a ten minute span. sounds like too much keystone light, too little common courtesy.

Thanks for all the hard work Eric!

And Mr. Mills = save the negativity for your crappy golf game.  If you are mad you didn't get into RvB, sign up sooner next time.     ::)

FYI, there will be a superclass throwdown shortly after the opening, and probably even a superclass glow dubs league through the winter(looking like Wednesdays)...with 1 night a month of variety, TBA. Keep a lookout.
