I heard that Hole 1, 2, 6, and 11 were all missing from someone who played Saturday.  Is this true?  Are we missing even more baskets out there now?

I believe there was about 20-25 people out.

Beautiful day, and a fun course.
They did not get the fairways mowed as wide as they wanted on about 6 holes, so there was 25 foot fairways instead of 50ft.  Which created quite a bit of OB shots. But playing a safe shot, could avoid taking too many strokes.

There is a few tweaks that will need to be done to the course, but otherwise, there is a lot of fun shots, and a few water-hazards(I think 10 or so discs found their way into the lake.

I only know some Open scores
Babbit     52   47   99   (With a killer ace on hole 4 to finish round 1, but not in ace fund:()
Hesting   51   51   102
Q Street  54   53   107
Lazzo      55   59   114
Weaver   59   57   116
Wizzby    65   56   121

Overall, was a great day, and only about a 40 minute drive from my house in PV.  I believe you can camp at the lake too.  Not sure when the course will be put in for good, but it will eventually have tees, multiple pins, etc.  Probably next spring/summer.

I was just out there to check things out. How are we to play when the grassy area east of the lake is still waist high prairie grass thats not been mowed all year. Are you sure this is really going on. I live in baldwin and I don't see this working this sunday. I want to play and give my opinion on this course. I guess I ll have to go out and see if anybody shows up. Does anybody have more info on this tournament?

In Response

Joe Hesting -  "There is some worry on the KCFDC board, due to somebody going out there and saying there is no mowed fairways as of yesterday. Do you know, are they getting mowed today, or what's the story? So we can ease this Fear of tall grass:)"

Micheal Carson - "Just got confirmation that the course has been mowed. They only mowed the fairways, that could be why someone is saying it is not mowed."

16 is in the short on the side of the hill, this is the first time i have seen 18 at the top of the hill.  Also 13 has a new placement short within some trees by the road.

Don't you mean 15 is in the short?  I thought the only 16 short was under the tree?

I think you are confused on your holes

That's why the long is the best. Very hard 3, but not even an easy 4 with the slope around the basket.  both short placements are "throw far, lay-up, and move on"

Got the go ahead.  They are encouraging all players to come check out the course.  If you can play the tourney, great.  But come take a look either way.

I'm going to try to make it out there for the 10:00 round, but might be later depending on how much Halloween Party hangover is sticking around.
Gotta figure out how much I want to see the Chiefs take the Browns to Pound-town.

Kinda interested to check out these new baskets!

Don't know if I can make it out for the all day tourney, but I would definitely like to come see the course and try out the baskets. Maybe donate to the Cats!

Written on FB event page "$5 of the each entry will be donated to either the KU or K-State disc golf team. Come show your support, for a great cause. Lets see which team can get the most support."

I'm trying to get an answer on whether or not they will allow us to donate and play just one round.

Better make sure to bring a lunch Joe.  This one clarifies that there will be a lunch break, not just "lunch" implying that it was provided...

What's going on this Sunday then, if the course is not yet playable?

Great course!  I recommend anybody traveling through Jeff City, stop and play Joseph C Miller.

However if you are a competitive Pro player and see $1000 added cash on the flier for this tournament next year. Do not be fooled (like the rest of us) into thinking this tournament will have a great payout.

19 Open, 12 masters.  You'd think 31 pros is $1000/31=$32.25 per player added cash.  So $612.75 added to Open, and $387.25 added to masters.

Not the case in Jeff City...They say split it evenly between all fields, so $200 for each division(Open, Masters, Adv, Intermediate, Rec)  Never heard of this in my life.  Ams get paid out in plastic, so if you add $200 cash, to their payout, with the price of at-cost discs, they pocket somewhere between $75-$100 per division.  I'm just  guessing on the amount there.

So anyway, when it is all said and done.
The Open payout adds up to $941.  19 entry fees=$855
Masters = $577.  12 entry fees=$540
So where did the extra $200 added cash go?  hmmm.  A total of $123 extra added to both Open and Masters combined.  BullS$^t!

Point being-Do not put $1000 added cash on your flier, and pull this.  75% of the pros that came were from KC or St. Louis, and we were all coming for that added cash.

I will say the course was in excellent condition and was very challenging and fun.  BUT finishing at 6:30, and then holding a raffle for 2 hours, while some of us traveling with Ams (waiting on their plastic), have to wait until 8:30 for them to give out merch.  I won't be back, except to play the course again.

Oh, Also, don't say Lunch on the flier, and then have food for sale.  When I see Lunch, I think Lunch provided.  That is like putting Lunch on everyday of my calendar, so I know I should eat lunch everyday.  That is a given.

Losing $10 or losing $5.  Not much difference there.  But winning $40 instead of $20, I'll take that gamble.

I'm not comparing leagues, comparing $$$. And there sure are a lot of under 900 rated people that show up for down under, wanting a good partner and some of those dollar bills. I doubt there is much differece between playing in the dark vs playing in a million trees.
