Winter Leagues / Down Under League 2/21/15
« on: Today at 09:25:20 am »
46 (-8) won on what surprisingly turned out to be a nice day. Nice this time of year leads to slick conditions though and the scores reflected such. Today should be fun with the snow just starting to fall. Caleb and Amanda had to go back to Okie, but Caleb gave me money to buy his Ace beer which I will bring today. Ace fund now $165.

Pins will be the same (frozen in place) but tee pads moved. I'm pretty sure we'll have a nice bonfire Abajo Debajo.

Hmmm.... can't find score cards from last week but I know we had 24 people on a cold, windy day. Top score was -9 which is indicative of the strong NE wind. We'll change up some tee pads today but otherwise the same layout.

We shoveled the tee pads earlier in the week, so Abajo Debajo should be playable though a bit slick on the hills. Ace fund is up to $315.

Why not? Old Pike League at 6pm. Really? What else do you have planned? Tee pads shoveled. Bonfire.

We had 38 players last week in conditions that were sloppy under foot but a nice 60 degrees otherwise. The Mike's (Murph and T) led the field with a -13 splitting $140. Nick Wink and Arturo followed with a -12 taking home $80. -10 and a couple -9's rounded out the cash. I have all but 1 of the scorecards. There was a group that was an hour behind the rest of the field. What happened?? Rosedale Up and Down has got to be one of the most played courses - anywhere in the world. Any stories of busier courses?? Regardless, it can be a challenge for 30+ players to get through a round without being slowed by recreational play. Just do your best and be polite.

Moving tee pads this morning. Abajo Debajo will be chilly but mostly dry. Double digits again will likely cash.

$380 = $38 Club + $38 Ace + $304 paid $140/$80/$50/$34

Thank you to the folks who stepped up and ran Abajo Debajo when I was out of town. Lots of solid scoring for sure, but I didn't see any 1100's yet. It's going to happen (right Tank??). Why not today? 60+ degrees in February will surely bring out some golfers. Remember it was 0 just 2 days ago. We actually had 16 people play through the cold rain and muck that was last Saturday. Score cards were in shreds so I don't have the names with the scores. I vaguely remember that Mike D'Open and his life partner shot -13 then some -9's ans -8's rounded out the cash paid. Wait, Danni K is Mike's life partner, so I don't know who played with Mikey...

Today will be sloppy, but if you haven't played since the Ice Bowl all 18 baskets have been moved. Tee pads too. Ace fund is $253 going into today.

The $1 paid to the club with every entry has now funded over $700 of course improvements including new locks, gravel screenings on every tee pad, bobcat rental, and a new access road the the front 9 that will facilitate much easier trash removal. We have additional projects planned so stay tuned.

Another strong turnout with 38 golfers playing probably the toughest layout of the season. Frank/Shanan and Murph/Ossa led the way with -8's splitting $195. Not bad. Today will be a little sloppy from the snow melt, but temps should be mid 30's with some sun (huh? sun???). I heard we've had less than 12 hours of sunlight in the last 2 weeks.

We're going to shorten the course somewhat and use a few of the more friendly tee pads today. Resbalon que resbala lejos Abajo Debajo....

Ho, Ho, Yo? Only 20 people last week? OK, kind of chilly, kind of slick, but at least a chance to practice for the DD Tourney the next day. Surprisingly, a lot of people that play dubs on Saturday didn't play Sunday and visa versa. Plus, quite a few people who usually play dubs were playing the Up Top Tourney on Saturday. My guess is a near 60 degree December day will bring out more revelers today. We'll move some hoops/pads for a fresh look Abajo Debajo.

Meet 12:30pm #9 DU, sign up 12:45, tee 1:00. $10/person, no checks, no coin. Random draw doubles.

Tank's Tip..... "Don't breathe? Can't shoot!"

$200 = $20 ace + $20 club +$160 paid = $80/$50/$30 Ace fund now $103

19 teams played a more challenging DU layout last week with Shanan and Cecil tying Dick P. and Arturo with -9's. It should be noted that Dick and Arturo took a 2 stroke penalty for throwing from the wrong tee on #17. Thanks for being honest...

We'll have another challenging layout today that will resemble what will be played tomorrow in DD's Doubles Tourney.

Wow, 2 more aces last week. Das Loomis nailed #5 and Mike Fenton (who else??!) slammed #4. Good job! Rounded up, each get $70. A couple of 39's (-15) led a field of 20 teams. Today looks to be another beautiful day to play Abajo Debajo with an expected high of 63 degrees and minimal wind. I plan to move some hoops and teepads today for yet another different layout. The plan is to not play the same track twice this season.

Meet #9 DU 12:30, sign up 12:45, play 1:00. $10 per player, no coin, no checks please.

$400 = $320 paid + 40 ace + $40 club.  $120/$80/$60/$40/$20  Ace $185/2=$92.50/2=$46.25 so... $92.50+46.25=$138.75/2=$69.38 or $70 each for Mike and Das.

Played Jesse James for the first time today. Nice track except for DannI Knox's hole-in-one on #5 and then Ben Hansen's ace on #16 followed by a face mask from Dave Z on the same hole later. $56 from me. Expensive day but fun for sure.

First off, apologies to all for the confusion around drawing cards for teams last week. Won't happen again.

Meet by #9 Down Under 12:30-12:45. $10/per person. We will draw cards for teams at 12:50. Tee 1:00.

Once cards are drawn, entry is officially closed. I hate to turn people away ($10 is well.... $10), but have had to several times the last couple years. 1st and best option is to be there on time. 2nd option is to get in touch with me prior to cards being drawn and we will draw for you. 3rd option is to refer back to the 1st option.

Alrighty then, Kevin Corbett aced #8 last week for $145 which will be paid in full today. That shot (with Dave Z as his partner) broke a tie with Joe H and Das Loomis who took 2nd in a tightly bunched field. Today will be a different layout with some alternate pads. Weather looks to be damp but rain holding off until tonight and tomorrow.

$240 (24x10) = $192 payout = $90/$50/$30/$22
                          $24 Ace fund +$266 carried=$290/2=$145 to Kevin

32 people showed up to play on a great day to start our 15th season. Oddly, the scores were somewhat average considering there were alot of power teams. Oh well... Hoop location will be the same as the baskets are frozen in place right now. We will move some tee-pads for a different look at the same track.

This is shaping up to be the perfect day for Winter golf. 30 degrees with the season's first snowfall throughout the round. We'll have a bonfire going too.

Dejais le nevar!

32 people $320 total. $256 paid, $32 ace fund, $32 Club.

Winter Leagues / 2014-2015 Down Under League 15th season
« on: November 08, 2014, 09:01:07 am »
Down Under League starts today as we usher in the 15th season of league play. We meet at #9 DU and park in the back lot at Rosedale next to the softball fields. 12:30-12:45 sign-up, start around 1:00pm. Course is in good shape, though it can be tough to find discs under all the leaves. Make sure you have an identifier on your disc should you lose it. DD/Josh have been incredibly awesome in following up with lost discs put in the disc return next to #1 up top. Same rules apply. $10/person = $8 payout, $1 Ace, $1 Club. No checks, no coin please. Ace fund carryover from last season is $234 + today's total.

We have yet to card an 1100 rated round (unless you talk to Tank) so let's see what happens. I've seen consistently really good doubles and cali rounds all summer, so I'm expecting ratings to increase on average.

Oh yeah, Abajo Debajo Ligo comienza hoy!
