Tough course, cold weather, and wind kept scores somewhat in check. Only Enrique Tomas and Dazee were able to get to double digits taking home $80. Today will be ummmm interesting to say the least. I moved 12 baskets setting up a friendlier layout. 3 old guys played yesterday in these conditions and birdied 16 of 18 holes, so it's reasonable to expect some low scores today. Yes, it will be cold, it will be icy-ish (tee pads are good), and it will be awesome. I love the sound of frozen chains. So, channel your inner Elsa or Olaf and play the first Frozen round of the season.

Nice turn out last week as 36 people braved 70 degree weather and perfect conditions. Murph (again) and Cecil shot the hot round at -12 with a bunch of teams just a stroke or two behind. Today will be chilly and breezy. Tame descriptions for cold and windy. Oh well, DU League is mostly known as a Winter thing and we are somewhat protected from the wind. We're moving 5 or 6 tee pads this morning, but the course will be the same. Double digits will be a challenge today.

Paid 8 teams: $110/$70/$50/$35/$23

Last week got off to a blazing start as Fireman Fred smoked #10 and Freaky Fenton fire bombed #14 knocking the dog out of the ace fund which now stands ~$70 bucks. Each will take home a benji + change. Perfect conditions and a short track led to a bunch of low scores with Murph'N'Nick leading the way at -14 and $100. Almost Thanksgiving and temps approaching 70 degrees?? Expect a big turnout today, especially with the KCFDC Meeting later at The Westport Flea Market. We'll get out this morning and move some hoops for a more challenging layout.

Check out the new KCFDC logo'd windsock we put up at Rosedale yesterday. It would be really cool to do this at more courses. Let me know if anyone has interest in this as I'm now educated in all things windsocky....

DU League starts tomorrow for those that can't play the Club Championship weekend. Not bad $$ for those that play. The Ace Fund is $286 and the Club Fund is $625 (less about $200 for a cool wind sock set up for Rosie up top). If you can, come out and play 1pm DU, $10/random draw doubles. $1 ace/$1 club/$8 payout. For those playing the KCFDC CC, good luck!! For those chucking DU, good $$!!

Winter Leagues / Down Under League pre-game

We're playing a pre-season kind of round tomorrow 1:00pm Down Under. Doubles. $10 pay in, full payout, aces paid on the card. Costumes encouraged. Next week will start the official DU League. Random draw doubles, ace fund, and all that stuff starts officially 11/7.  I'm trying to figure out my "Pete Cashen" costume. New layout up top is pretty cool. Pete, Dave Z, Danni Knox, and the dude that works for the Wyco parks put in a ton of work to make it happen. Good on ya'! See you Saturday. Go Royals! We still good....

Rosedale / Rosedale Park closing this summer
« on: April 01, 2015, 02:16:05 PM »
Just heard from KCK folks that Rosedale Park will be closing for good this summer to make room for an expansion of Mission Road and the access to I-35. This apparently eliminates the Down Under and all but 7,8, and 9 Up Top. There is a preliminary plan to build some sort of walking trail through all this. The baskets will be auctioned off at a later date to be determined. Dang....

Last week was nice with the snow falling throughout the round. John O. and Jay C. shot -10 to take home the big $$. The bonfire we started was able to be re-kindled through at least Wednesday. Kinda cool in a caveman way. Today will be the last official DU League for the season.

Abajo Debajo ace fund is $178 going into today. We plan to move every basket location and play what is considered to be the easiest layout hoping to inspire some ace runs and maybe a record score.

No, next week will be the last DU league until fall. We still play some Saturdays, but it's pretty random. Kinda looking forward to the break....

46 (-8) won on what surprisingly turned out to be a nice day. Nice this time of year leads to slick conditions though and the scores reflected such. Today should be fun with the snow just starting to fall. Caleb and Amanda had to go back to Okie, but Caleb gave me money to buy his Ace beer which I will bring today. Ace fund now $165.

Pins will be the same (frozen in place) but tee pads moved. I'm pretty sure we'll have a nice bonfire Abajo Debajo.

Hmmm.... can't find score cards from last week but I know we had 24 people on a cold, windy day. Top score was -9 which is indicative of the strong NE wind. We'll change up some tee pads today but otherwise the same layout.

We shoveled the tee pads earlier in the week, so Abajo Debajo should be playable though a bit slick on the hills. Ace fund is up to $315.

Why not? Old Pike League at 6pm. Really? What else do you have planned? Tee pads shoveled. Bonfire.

We had 38 players last week in conditions that were sloppy under foot but a nice 60 degrees otherwise. The Mike's (Murph and T) led the field with a -13 splitting $140. Nick Wink and Arturo followed with a -12 taking home $80. -10 and a couple -9's rounded out the cash. I have all but 1 of the scorecards. There was a group that was an hour behind the rest of the field. What happened?? Rosedale Up and Down has got to be one of the most played courses - anywhere in the world. Any stories of busier courses?? Regardless, it can be a challenge for 30+ players to get through a round without being slowed by recreational play. Just do your best and be polite.

Moving tee pads this morning. Abajo Debajo will be chilly but mostly dry. Double digits again will likely cash.

$380 = $38 Club + $38 Ace + $304 paid $140/$80/$50/$34

Thank you to the folks who stepped up and ran Abajo Debajo when I was out of town. Lots of solid scoring for sure, but I didn't see any 1100's yet. It's going to happen (right Tank??). Why not today? 60+ degrees in February will surely bring out some golfers. Remember it was 0 just 2 days ago. We actually had 16 people play through the cold rain and muck that was last Saturday. Score cards were in shreds so I don't have the names with the scores. I vaguely remember that Mike D'Open and his life partner shot -13 then some -9's ans -8's rounded out the cash paid. Wait, Danni K is Mike's life partner, so I don't know who played with Mikey...

Today will be sloppy, but if you haven't played since the Ice Bowl all 18 baskets have been moved. Tee pads too. Ace fund is $253 going into today.

The $1 paid to the club with every entry has now funded over $700 of course improvements including new locks, gravel screenings on every tee pad, bobcat rental, and a new access road the the front 9 that will facilitate much easier trash removal. We have additional projects planned so stay tuned.
