Our daughter, Ava Marie Palmer, was born on 6/4 at 2:20 in the afternoon.

Mommy and baby are doing great; we are at home and everything has just been perfect.  She's got a good, strong grip and will be hucking Rocs in no time!

General Banter / A Gentle Etiquette Reminder
« on: March 08, 2010, 10:13:42 AM »
This may seem like a passive-aggressive act, but I just wanted to give a quick reminder to all golfers out there,  not just KCFDC board lurkers.

If you're playing doubles with like 10 people, let smaller groups play through.  Our group of 4 was stuck behind a group this size on Saturday and it was SLOOOOOOOOOOW.  There was a gigantic gap in front of the large group too.

I mainly bring this up because there were KCFDC members in this group.  It didn't really bother me, as the weather was grand and I wasn't in a hurry, but a couple in my group and all the groups behind us were getting a bit agitated.

Legacy Park - Lee's Summit / Legacy Update - 2/24/10
« on: February 24, 2010, 01:33:39 PM »
Reading through the parks publication today, it seems that they claimed to have pruned some trees on the disc golf course, perhaps this means the foot long thorns will not be poking everyone's eyes out this year.  ;D

now it will just be your shoes when you step on them.

Legacy Park - Lee's Summit / Anyone interested in leagues at all?
« on: August 05, 2009, 01:42:44 PM »
As I've been laid off AGAIN, I wanted to gauge interest in leagues out at Legacy on Friday nights.

I am open to running them (at least until i'm gainfully employed again), so what say you club members? yay or nay?

Legacy Park - Lee's Summit / Course Update - 7/22/09
« on: July 22, 2009, 07:52:47 PM »
I met with a gentleman from the city this evening and we walked the course together.  I shared some of the concerns we have concerning the mowing and the proliferation of ticks and other various nasties.

He was very receptive to my input, as he has seen many people losing discs first hand from his office window at the parks building.

Many holes will stay the same, some of the longer holes will have widened fairways.  They will not be drastically wider, but they will be widened a bit.

We will also be moving some pins around, namely the short pins on holes 3 and 7.  We will also possibly be placing a new tee pad on #7 that will remove the "blind shot" aspect from that hole.  There will be a new short pin for this hole as well, as our new tee location would make the short pin about a 100 foot shot.  #3's short pin will also be moved to address some confusion/safety issues that could arise with people playing 3 and 4.

Many of the basket areas will also be extended.

BUT, on a less critical note, as I walked the course I realized that the fairways now are DRASTICALLY wider than they were when we started this process.  We're getting there people!

This is sure to be a tough course, but it's looking pretty darn good right now.  The city is on a 3 week mowing schedule and the city guy said that those periods could be shortened accordingly during heavy rain.

Give it a shot people; I played the front 9 today with the city guy walking along, and it was playing nicely.

Tournaments / Solstice Doubles on for this year?
« on: June 02, 2009, 09:54:10 PM »
Anyone know if the Solstice Doubles is happening this year?

Definitely one of the most fun tournaments around!

44
Anyone feel like playing league on Friday?  Apparently the weather is supposed to be good and the course has been mowed.  I will run it if people are generally interested.

45
Since there is really no maintenance getting done out at Legacy, I and several other club officers have made the decision to suspend the official league for the present time.

If league will be held, I will announce early in the week via the message board.  I know this is an inconvenience, but the course is pretty much unplayable right now because of the length of the grass.
