Swope / 9/23/08 Swope League
« on: September 23, 2008, 10:44:45 AM »
I will be stepping in for Matt Hays and running league tonight unless anyone else wants to.

Please remember, we tee off at 5:30 now.

We will be playing a short setup tonight, just like last week so we can get everyone done before it gets dark.

I can bring some scorecards, but all that I have are thin paper ones.  Can anyone bring the heavier stock score cards?

Found and Lost / lost - yellow Star Roc at P Hill
« on: May 28, 2008, 05:28:47 PM »
OK, so Leslie lost her yellow Star Roc out at P Hill.  She threw it right into the woods on hole #10.  We looked for quite a while and never found it, what we did find though was seed ticks and lots of em.

so if you're ever out hunting for leslie's disc (hem, hem, dan coffman) make sure to wear your deet.

General Banter / Legacy Park - Lee's Summit - Update 4/24/08
« on: April 24, 2008, 08:57:17 AM »
Got this e-mail this morning:

Good morning.

Several of you have inquired as to the progress of the disc golf course at Legacy Park.  Last night (Wed.), the Lee's Summit Parks and Recreation Board approved an additional $22,000 in funding to complete both the outdoor amphitheatre project and the disc golf course.  As many of you know, tee pads for the course have already been constructed.  We have been holding off on the purchase of baskets and site furnishings until we had a better handle on the progress and expenses associated with two projects being constructed simultaneously.  The additional funding will ensure that both projects will be completed in this fiscal year (June 30).  At this time, we still cannot give everyone a firm date as to when the course will be open for play however we will do our best open as soon as it is feasible.

Also, as another positive note to the project, Aquila, as part of their "Power of Trees" program, has agreed to donate and install 50 trees to the park, 35 of which will be located on the disc golf course.  We expect this project to begin in early May.  We have estimated the value of this donation to the park to be approximately $10,000.

We look forward to completing the project and having the first disc golf course in Lee's Summit.  Let me know if you have any further questions.

Steve Casey, RLA, ASLA

Assistant Superintendent of Park Planning and Development

General Banter / Bowling Green Recap
« on: March 31, 2008, 10:04:59 AM »
Loved the courses, they were a lot of fun.

Pretty short and technical with some boomers thrown in every once in a while.

I would also like to take this opportunity to send congrats to my wife Leslie, who is the new 2008 Bowling Green Am Rec Women's Champion!  Her first A Tier and she took it home!  She made me so proud.

Anyone know why 8's teepad is broken in half?

the right pin position for #7 was also run over and the pole is on the ground...

i know a few trees have been removed, but did these things happen when the trees were being taken out?

Swope / missing pins?
« on: July 02, 2007, 03:06:01 PM »
Is the park set now for gold or swope regular?

last time the wife and i went out, we had hoped to play gold, but there was no pin on swope gold #2, the valley next to the house was empty...is there a layout we should be playing instead?
