Cliff Drive / Re: Lost Disc on #12...Surprise, Surprise!

with the normal headwind on that hole, i'd say a Roadrunner is probably not the disc to throw, unless you aim it at the large tree in 13's fairway.

Roadrunners are VERY flippy brand new.

General Banter / Re: What is sandbagging in the midwest?

Not much sandbagging around here really.

If you won a bunch of rec or intermediate tournaments and didn't move up, you'd get harassed pretty much non-stop until you moved up.  Though I will say that once the PDGA revised the ratings brackets, we did see some guys around 910-920 that moved back into intermediate.  no biggie, just more donating for me and my 875 rating!

i bring it up because the same situation presented itself for a guy on my card, lars nordgren, at monkey island.  he went in the water, so he went to the drop zone.  splash, in the water again from the drop zone.  on our card, we decided that he should play provisional from his spot that he went in the water and also play from the drop zone again.  the TD ruled that the only shots that immediately went to the drop zone were 1st drives that went in the water.  if you went into the water from the drop zone, you would play it from where you went in the water with a meter relief.

i'm all for a solid decision, but are we going against normal PDGA rules on this one?

this reminds me of monkey island andy.

on that peninsula hole the only shots that went to the drop zone were drives that found the water.

Hole 2 - Island (ANY shot not landing on island, yes ANY shot, drive, upshot, putt... plays at drop zone to south of island painted on walk path)

so you can't lay up off the tee? that's how it sounds to me if i read this literally.  if i lay up, technically my drive didn't land on the island.  just wanted to clear this up.

since the wide open is an A Tier for ams, you must have a full membership.  You can't play with just a $10 temp membership.

i think the pin he's talking about on #14 is where it is now.  with OB rocks 30 feet behind the pin.  this set up for corporate challenge would've gone BADLY.  trust me, the two CC ladies that played with my group at the swope spring renewal would've had NO FUN.

he must want his local rating to stay at 890.
