You don't seem to understand.

975 and above are pros - these guys are really good.

974 and below are am.

Here in KC we do a good job of filling open, adv, int, and rec.  However, a 910 rated player is probably going to get killed by a 965 rated player, though a 910 rating is nothing to shake a stick at.  So the 910 rated player can be competitive and have a chance to win, he plays Int, with a lot of other people around his skill level.  It's human nature for people to want to have a chance to win and not to just donate.

TommyDee, it's not your choice what divisions people play.  It's theirs.  Your opinion doesn't matter to me in the least bit when I'm selecting which division to play.  And I WANT to play two rounds.  If you can't make the time commitment, too bad.

Besides, other than the time, why would you not want to play both rounds?  The two courses being used are two of the best in the city.

tournaments that are sanctioned by the PDGA don't work that way.

besides, just because your division isn't advanced or open doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't play two rounds.  there are some pretty salty intermediate and rec players around that would be insulted at your suggestion to only play one round.

I have never played in an event before, but would be interested in the Mighty Mo.  How long does a tournament take to play (I have a prior commitment at 2:00pm and am wondering if playing would even be feasible)?  Also, what is the difference between the Rec and Novice divisions in tournaments?

i guarantee this tourney will not be over by 2.

I think I know this park.  Is it right off 9?  Maybe a mile or two before old downtown?

Les and I have commented about a certain little stretch of park being perfect for disc golf.

In any case, woo-hoo!  Just another excuse to stop at the Power Plant after a round for some delicious brew!

I'd be willing to wager that team Kiewit (in division C) will post the lowest score in the CC next weekend.

hmmmmmmm, looks like kiewit didn't even have the lowest score in the CC warm up?

Well, it looks like I've qualified to represent Sprint Nextel in the CC.

Look out Cerner!

General Banter / Legacy Park - Lee's Summit - Update 4/24/08
« on: April 24, 2008, 08:57:17 AM »
Got this e-mail this morning:

Good morning.

Several of you have inquired as to the progress of the disc golf course at Legacy Park.  Last night (Wed.), the Lee's Summit Parks and Recreation Board approved an additional $22,000 in funding to complete both the outdoor amphitheatre project and the disc golf course.  As many of you know, tee pads for the course have already been constructed.  We have been holding off on the purchase of baskets and site furnishings until we had a better handle on the progress and expenses associated with two projects being constructed simultaneously.  The additional funding will ensure that both projects will be completed in this fiscal year (June 30).  At this time, we still cannot give everyone a firm date as to when the course will be open for play however we will do our best open as soon as it is feasible.

Also, as another positive note to the project, Aquila, as part of their "Power of Trees" program, has agreed to donate and install 50 trees to the park, 35 of which will be located on the disc golf course.  We expect this project to begin in early May.  We have estimated the value of this donation to the park to be approximately $10,000.

We look forward to completing the project and having the first disc golf course in Lee's Summit.  Let me know if you have any further questions.

Assistant Superintendent of Park Planning and Development
