Rosedale / Workday on Saturday 11-08-08 for Honeysuckle Removal
« on: November 01, 2008, 07:41:59 AM »
Saturday November 8th will be a workday at Rosedale.   The club will be coordinating with the KCK P&R for the removal of Honeysuckle in the park.   We plan to work beginning at 8am and continue until 12pm.  The parks department will be providing herbicides to kill the recently cut plants and plans to remove all of the cut limbs.   We need as many people as possible to volunteer to help on this day while we have the cooperation of the parks department.  If you have loppers, saws, rakes or weed trimmers please bring them with you.   If you do not have any of those tools don't let that stop you from coming out to help.  If you can attend please respond on this thread, email me (kccolt@hotmail.com) or you may call or text me at 913.515.6266.

Pleasant Hill / Re: P-Hill Question
« on: October 26, 2008, 08:37:41 AM »
Saturday, I saw at least two signs that required all dogs to be on a leash.  I am sure that it would have been fine (I didn't see a single car come into the park in two hours), but unlike most of the parks (except SMP) with disc golf in the area they made an extra effort to proclaim the city's policy.    I have occasionally played ignorant of the leash ordnances when stopped by the rangers in KCK parks and been allowed to tether my beast with no further repercussions.   It would be difficult for me to plead ignorance with multiple signs, including one at the main entrance to the park.

On another note, I enjoyed the reconfiguration of the course.  I really like the mix of righty, lefty  and neutral holes.  The use of the woods are a bonus.  I will definitely play it again, but the almost hour long drive will always be the biggest deterrent.   I know that we are truly lucky in the KC to have so many good 18 hole courses that this rural gem is further away than at least a dozen others from my home.  Choice is good and KC disc golf is great.

Thanks.
I hadn't seen any dogs on the course, and I don't want to get a ticket.

Is the course dog friendly? At least like most of the courses in town?

Great idea Chris.

What if as the league rotated through the courses they could make some accommodation for that league's players? If you played on three courses you would only have to consider it twice during the season.  I would not want to make it complicated.  The league plays doubles that week and contributes to the payout and ace funds? If you played league the first night at the course that has a coinciding mini you could pick up teams that may want to continue in the league. When the league came back around in week three teams that were not regulars wouldn't get the benefit of a handicap, but could still participate.

Who pays for the sub?

Post those work days early so everyone can plan to help out.  It seems like too often the work days are posted so late I can't plan ahead of time to make them.

I think we have a problem.  If you have 35 how can I have 35 currently attached to my bag?  I won it from the guy that drew at the Ice Bowl.  Should we panic? Are there duplicate numbers in play?  ;)

Great idea, and nine days ahead should be ample notification for most of those interested in seeing the Rosedale course be its best.  Everybody has an opinion about what should be done to improve the course, and this sounds like a great opportunity for the most people to participate in shaping that vision for Rosedale's restoration.

Leftys should get some sporadic advantages, since we die younger.  Thanks for the props.
