General Banter / Re: Disc Golf IQ
« on: April 10, 2013, 08:10:37 PM »
Loomis, Yoga, hell yeah. I use it every time I put. Rooting down and reaching out in all directions. And as Vince mentioned: breathe! Yes, it is great.

Technique and practice. Technique and developing a personal routine is huge. I am not great at disc golf, but far from crappy, and I have found that finding what works and sticking with it is how I improve. All of the feedback here has some truth, especially what Palmer said  :)
I just go out and try new shots. If they work, I start to work on them. The same with putting. I have two putting styles I switch between depending on the conditions and the shot. But most importantly, I always follow my routine.

The number one thing is attitude, previously mentioned as confidence. Why do you think Pros tell Ams to play up? To learn the winning attitude. I stay in shape and work had at everything I do because my attitude informs my performance. I have beat too many players because I crushed their head game with my winning attitude.

Tournaments / Re: KC Corporate Challenge
« on: April 09, 2013, 04:05:21 PM »
tsk tsk tsk.....
Courses are required to be set up for the first round configuration a minimum of 48 hours prior to the start of the event for
National Tour Elite Series Events and 24 hours prior to the start of the event for SuperTours. In the case of temporary holes
and/or courses where baskets are unavailable, the temporary configuration must be clearly marked...

I know how to catch a Jack. Put out info. about a PDGA tournament rule. I know "we" like to have them set a week before, so I was guessing in the dark.

I will not have the complete CC set up until the week before. Most holes will be set in the CC placements, but not at all. Some holes have the red practice pin in the CC placment and the flags are longer for a longer option. I am sure CC players can handle that since PDGA players only expect the course set the week before NT or A tier events.

Water Works / Re: Trash Talkin'

If only Ian hadn't fallen off of the face of the earth...

I returned to Earth from my space travels to take care of the trash yesterday. It was a sled graveyard in the bottom of the cans. Also, I returned the missing trashcan on hole 8 that was sitting down on hole 5.

We need more like Ian. A big thank you to you.

Cliff Drive / Re: League 4/1/13 Results

Yep, made the decision, cancelling league tonight......we shall try again next week.

Like! Good choice. There have been many days after rain I have wished we could close a course to keep from destoying the grass and paths. Think Rosedale today  ::)

General Banter / Re: Cliff Drive Work Day, This SUNDAY 4/7/2013!!!

AGREED! For three weeks in a row I have been at Swope on Sunday doing something. Chris Millsap has consistently been there working on the club house. Patrick has been a huge help too. Otherwise, nobody and nothing. I sure hear a lot of suggestions of what could and should be done. We need action, not talk.

Pete Cashen did come out and install the signs for KCFDC leagues. Big thanks to the BoD and Pete for getting those together. They look great.

Swope / Swope Round 12:30 ish Sunday 4/7
« on: April 06, 2013, 09:43:16 PM »
I'll be out at Swope again tomorrow around 11:30 to finish up some of what I started last week, and I will bring out some brats and charcoal for a little lunch and a round afterwards. Come on out if you're interested. I think Patrick and Chris are gonna finish up the painting on the club house, too.

In that case, I missed a 12 footer on 13, but I gave myslef a seven since it felt like a seven, so I really shot a -15 or 39.  ;)
We do need some help, CD.  8)

That's a nice device. I hope someone returns it. I have owned a couple of Cowan products, and it's good stuff.

With all the factions on the west side, I am sure am glad I'm on the east. I talked to east side captain, Ryan Keck, yesterday and he said he would have details this week.

I'll be there tomorrow for some Swope singles action. I am hoping to be recovered from this damn cold, and play the opposite of Saturday's down under round.  ;)

Swope / Re: Swope Spring Clean and Work Day March 31st 9:00 a.m.

Yes, Patrick and Chris stayed after beer league to work on the club house. I got the bridges secured for  the next season, but we still have the stairs from 13 to 14 to work on, and the lack of any restroom is getting to be a nuisance. Dan or Jack, any idea on when the P&R is going to replace the pissers, or at least bring back some johnnies?

Ben has worked out the details on the stairs and I will work with him to organize more labor than just Patrick, Chris, and myself. BTW, Patrick used the benefits from the mini for Mike P.'s birthday to buy the paint, and I left them with lunch and beverages from the KCFDC. Swope is a beautiful course. Let's make it more beautifullyier for all.

General Banter / Why did you join the KCFDC?
« on: April 01, 2013, 04:48:26 PM »
This is a thread to get some information from membership, or not, about why they joined the KCFDC.

Rob Martin attended our last meeting and via some discussion he mentioned he joined the club, though he lives in Lawrence, because of the opportunity to play in the club championships. Why did you join?
