Trophy only is a load of crap. Sorry as an Am player, I see trophy and think "What the hell am I paying for? A player's pack? Is this some of that "everybody's a winner" crap. Sorry entitlement generation, but it stinks. And it does nothing to promote sportsmanship.

If the 30th Wide Open goes trophy only, I gotta wonder about leadership and where the priorities are.

Ams need to play at least four rounds, too. There is a huge competitive and athletic advantage to the fourth round. If you are out of shape and can't hold it together over four rounds, then you will lose. Please support your Ams all over the world, many of them will be the next Pros.

So, if I call it and hit metal, then +2. If I call it and hit an ace, then +6. However, on either miss I would be -2.

Also to be clear, the second round option only affects the Metal Muncher Side bet. In other words, who ever wins Ace Race does not necessarily win the side bet and vice versa. SO, if you take the side bet, it is very important to circle your gambles during the second round. We can figure the points with and without the option only if cards are marked correctly (or at least it really helps).

Sep 24th Kansas City Ace Race

Sponsored by the Kansas City Flying Disc Club, Dynamic Discs, Tall Grass Brewing

Rolling start from 8:30 to 10:00

Registration closes at 9:00

Last card must be out by 10:00

Lunch starts at 11:30 (Walking Tacos, venison tacos in a bowl, with all the fixings)

Drinks provided by Tall Grass Brewing

Non-alcoholic drinks also available

Between round games start at 11:30

Ring of Fire, CTP w/ your prototype disc, MTA, and TBA day of events.

We will have CTPs during the round as well (probably for the longer shots).

Second round TBA (approx. 1:00)
(If you have to leave early, you can play both rounds whenever you need to)

Metal Muncher optional side bet (10 bucks cash) w/ 30% final pay out. Any metal above the basket is one point. Aces are three. Leaners, tweeners, and toppers are two points. Don’t worry we will have enough baskets out there for you to hit lots of metal (side by side, stacked and hangers are likely). Second round option: any player in the side bet can call “Metal Muncher” for double points on any hit. However, if nothing is hit the player loses 2 points. Points must be circled on the card, only for the second round to signify + or – points. This is a points race after all.

Well, I can say that I never complained because I stopped playing league under that structure. Food for thought. This summer I played at least two leagues a week, giving two bucks a week to the club. As an Am, I would not go back to playing for KC Cash. I would play pro now, but six months ago, no way. What changed? I played alot this summer and got better.

I wonder how many come to league for the money? Competition? Or just camaraderie?

Response from pro players: Well then move up! Why Masters players don't have to move up. They just need to age. Mind you, I have started playing open in leagues. Now, on the flip side, tourneys are looking worse than ever for AMs: trophy only?!

So, pro 2 brought me out to league all summer. Otherwise, I would not have gone to play for KC cash. Pro 2 offered better competition than AM as well. There are so many players that don't throw 1000 rated rounds week after week, but don't throw 900 rated rounds either.

Pros: Why would I donate just to play up, if I have no chance of winning? (just giving the opposing view.)
