That's a nice device. I hope someone returns it. I have owned a couple of Cowan products, and it's good stuff.

With all the factions on the west side, I am sure am glad I'm on the east. I talked to east side captain, Ryan Keck, yesterday and he said he would have details this week.

I'll be there tomorrow for some Swope singles action. I am hoping to be recovered from this damn cold, and play the opposite of Saturday's down under round.  ;)

Yes, Patrick and Chris stayed after beer league to work on the club house. I got the bridges secured for  the next season, but we still have the stairs from 13 to 14 to work on, and the lack of any restroom is getting to be a nuisance. Dan or Jack, any idea on when the P&R is going to replace the pissers, or at least bring back some johnnies?

Ben has worked out the details on the stairs and I will work with him to organize more labor than just Patrick, Chris, and myself. BTW, Patrick used the benefits from the mini for Mike P.'s birthday to buy the paint, and I left them with lunch and beverages from the KCFDC. Swope is a beautiful course. Let's make it more beautifullyier for all.

General Banter / Why did you join the KCFDC?
« on: April 01, 2013, 04:48:26 pm »
This is a thread to get some information from membership, or not, about why they joined the KCFDC.

Rob Martin attended our last meeting and via some discussion he mentioned he joined the club, though he lives in Lawrence, because of the opportunity to play in the club championships. Why did you join?

Dick,

I have a request, can I get on E-Kolk's card to ensure that he doesn't hit an ace? :o

Who knows, Jack. You may be a good luck charm :)

I knew who it was right away. There are many locals who can fill Carhart overalls that big. A good guy for KC and disc golf. Yes, the notorious rum balls.

I'm on the fence over which to play. Could we find some wood chips to put down on the tee pads to make them more "user friendly?"

Down Under in the slop is a game of Stand and Deliver. You know which one you want to play. Looking forward to some good throws and tree love. This course is equal parts skill and chance. It's anyone's game.  Hope to see you there.

Okay scratch that. I 70 is closed in Colorado and Kansas, so I will not be back for Sunday morning. Hopefully, I can make it back Sunday night and plan some ad hoc work during the week.

It would seem the weather has set itself against you again.  Maybe by June there'll be a weekend when it's not snowing/freezing raining on you.

You are correct. However, Swope has an event every weekend through the 21st of April, so you gotta strike while the iron is hot, or in this case, cold

I'm thinking about a space heater in the club house to warm us up.

Sorry I won't be able to make this one at my favorite course in town, but there is room for shameless promotion of workday on Sunday. I know the weather is supposed to suck, but if you love Swope and KC golf give us a hand if you can. Thread under Swope. Thanks to Matt and DD for doing another one rounder.

I always just assume that a competitive round is going to take an average of three hours. The exceptions being longer courses which can take longer; and shorter courses - or tournaments with small turn outs - which can make the round shorter. But on average, I think 3 hours is about average in my experience. Unless CD is on the card... Then all bets are off. LOL

Or Stiles for that matter, and he started this damn off topic thread.  ;)

There will not be as many rounds this year, so as long as we keep it moving on the course, all should be good and kosher. Swope Gold is very long course and very challenging. It is no BV, but it is way tougher than WW and Rose, so I guess it takes longer to play. I also like to promote fitness and stamina, but I get it. Play faster and we won't be as tired or out of rhythm on the course.
