General Banter / Re: What is your favorite basket?
« on: July 02, 2013, 10:52:22 am »
First world problems people! Get the hell out of KC for a disc golf weekend and you'll quickly realize you are all spoiled.

Seriously, one man's opinion is just that, an opinion. I am happy to throw at any basket, even the one's that spit out solid putts because it is free to play and I enjoy it regardless.

I wish I had time to argue about baskets, create polls, and work against the efforts of the few.

Okay, now everyone prove me wrong, or contradict, since that seems to be the flavor of this forum lately.

Personal Leadership here peeps!

Bring your dollar bills y'all.  Got some birdie poker in mind.  Longest putts, Ctp's, etc.  Or is this getting way too EVENT-like?

Now, knock it off already! BTW, setting up a shorter layout for league tonight, so y'all should have some fun with your Super Classy discs!

Yours truly is running Swope league tonight. I am pulling the course in shorter for tonight, so come out and shoot some low scores and maybe hit an ace (if I don't get one first  ;) ). This will be the opposite of GOLD layout, so maybe it is the ZINC or nickel layout.

The short layout is also for the Super Class wonkiness happening on the Fourth.

Tournaments / Re: ROC vs BUZZ 2013

The tournament proposal needs to go to the Bod or apporval. But yes, I have a date, Sep. 21, already secured and will have the details posted afer the next BoD meeting after approval.

I like your energy there Danger! The plan for the 1st annual Roc v Buzzz will be similar to last year including a player's pack, lunch, drinks, and games. We had a great ring-of-fire last year and lots-o-winners. This year there will be no stipulations for which buzzz or roc you can throw. Looking like a team event again this year. Details to follow next meeting.

I moved a few pins shorter yesterday so league should be quicker than usual tonight. The course still looks great too.

There you go! Suggestions to pay out structure, please. Seriously, I have some changes in mind for the next year.

Everything said in this thread

Please remember everything awesome and bad of this and all of the KCFDC is volunteer.

Rest assured this thread has not gone unnoticed and the KCFDC will consider it all during the debrief.

Bring it kselrod! I've been meaning to recognize your positive contribution all the way from Pburg.

Caddy Shack has great pizza and a good tenderloin sandwich, I suggest tater tots with that. Cool place to grab a beer too. The Vietnamese place is pretty good on Independence Ave., but the Vietnam Cafe in Columbus park, 5th and Campbell, rocks it. Call them ahead and get it to go. It's always busy for lunch. On the Water Works side, there is In-a-Tub at 400O N. Oak. It's a not healthy but still great.

There will always be complaints, no matter what is done :)

ALso, doubles at Old Pike on tuesdays 6pm all year long.

And Swope! :)

Just start another thread, on another forum. Cool, this is not.

Every player I talked to seem to love the courses and the event. Nate Doss commmented to Kristie and me about how much he and other pro players enjoyed the schedule and playing the core courses of KC> He also mentioned it wouldn't be bad to skip Rosie to play Cliff in the future, after redesign.

We had a great showof community in the form of volunteers and I hope you can all make it to the volunteer party TBA.

Jason and Jack,Thanks a million. We will get it sorted out before league. Yes, it is a mess, but this is the aftermath of the KCWO. Lots of energy went into a great event, and we all needed one day of down time. But  back to it today :)

I'll be moving Swope for league Tuesday night. Anyone who can help would be greatly appreciated. The pins are very out-of-order so a pickup truck would be great for major changes. In short, if you can help, that'd be great. I'll be there at a 4:45. Thanks, and see you at league.

Is the hay an island or obstructive?

Both. Now complain about it.  ;) I mean that there is marked OB perpendicular to the hay bails, and they are stacked two high, and there is OB behind the basket about 45 feet out. You don't want to be short of the hay bails. However, there is a long landing strip, in bounds, on the left side of two's fairway. Just don't get into three's fairway as it is OB, too.

Swope looks better than I have seen it in three years. Too bad the park has lost so many trees to disease. It should be a premier course, IMO> The course is amazing as it is set now. Oh yeah, and new stairs thanks to KCMO P&R and Dan Cashen and crew.

I haven't seen the other courses yet, but have talked to many people who have donated time and energy to their beautification. Great showing of the KC community. Can't wait to see them this weekend.

Hay is installed and the course is completely marked for OB.
