Kelly,
I missed your post earlier, but to answer the club provides cheese, crackers, and usually Fritos as well. However, any food items you would like to contribute are always welcome. Our IceBowl doesn't collect food for a pantry, but instead gives cash to pantries. However, we do collect food to feed hungry disc golfers on what may be a cold day after all. Who knows around here though.

CHILI! CHILI! CHILI! CHILE! CHILLY! CHILI!

I wish Drew had an original design he had drawn. Then it would be the one you drew Drew. Or maybe in random draw doubles one could say they drew Drew. Surely an old joke, I know poorly drawn conclusion.

Back to the topic, Tree Love artwork.

"We're looking for a person or a team of people who will work with me but will take responsibility for the lunch and the chili contest. This includes finding a generator or generators to power 30-40 crocks of chili, securing bowls and utensils, securing soft drinks, and suggesting or securing a cool prize for the Chili Contest winner. The KCFDC is producing this event and will pay for the what needs to be paid for."

We are two weeks away from the 25th KC Ice Bowl, and we have a generator thanks to Glover. We have bowls, utensils, and napkins thanks to Hal. The club is taking care of drinks and the miscellaneous. Yours truly is going to head up the food portion of the event, but we still need somethings. First, crocks of chili! In the past years I have tasted quite the variety of chili from smoked everything to a green curry chicken chili. Bring out your chili, and we will have the rest. I am also looking for some judges with discerning palates  :D ;D Send me a message if you would like to volunteer your taste buds and subjectivity to chili and a good cause.

Again great job! Can we get a round of applause over here for BV? I can't wait to play this course again tomorrow. Really fun. Some great tweener shots and some real deuce possibilities even for an Am like me  :) The bushes and trees are going to make such a difference as well. Again, bravo!

Played new BV set up today with 7 others. Most of us shot 59 and 60 with Nick Wink shooting a respectable 55. It's a great new set up. In fact, I want to play it again tomorrow. It is so much more fun. I was not exhausted at all after playing it either. I think the BV and BS combo adds the fatigue factor and those who are more physically fit and can play 6 hours a day of consistent golf will make some positive moves. Great work to all involved. BV is moving up on my list very quickly.

Great thread and great discussion many good points made by many.

On the initial discussion of DD coming to town, the 2011 Ace Race was sponsored by the KCFDC, DGW, and  DD as well as a host of others (Tall Grass, Fore Twenty, P.E.) and without everyone's participation, it would not have been a good event for the players, which we were able to include an additional 50 players with DD's help.

Yes, having DD or other vendors run some events in cooperation with the KCFDC has been discussed in meetings and the conclusion has largely been the club would prefer to have club members run events or even the club run events, but as Jack mentioned, we just do not get enough volunteers from our membership to run as many events as we would like. And if it makes the experience better for the players, then yeah. Personally, as a player not a BoD member, I am happiest with whoever can provide a great event for the players (merch., games, food, beverages, etc.) and give some money back to the club.

Rick has mentioned his interest in working with Jeremy not against him. If it can benefit the club and its members, then why not? There is a big difference here though, the KCFDC is a club. All the others, as Loomis noted, are separate entities with one primary goal: to make money. There is nothing wrong with that but thw two are not comparable in that way.

About the WO, if we as members really want to bring the "magnitude" up on this event, we need to find sponsors, or just be sponsors. Not big ones, just small ones, 25.00, 50.00, 100.00 multiplied by 20,30 or 50 goes a long way towards providing more for the players. I am really happy to see the discussion go back to this event and players saying more of what they want and after reading the initial plans for the WO, it also seems our voices have been heard.  :)

Yeah, I haven't played out there much lately but Loomis pointed out all the dead and, as of today, many more cut down. A few holes are less challenging as of today.

I did play the new hole 13 for the first time and it is a great hole. I took a five on it and, while I know it is not that hard, felt okay with it. Nice work and thanks!

General Banter / Re: New years eve round?
« on: December 29, 2011, 01:40:19 AM »
So the question about a NYE round. Saturday DU is happening per usual, no? Seems like place with the highest percentage possible for getting an ace in 2011 before time runs out.  :) And with the unseasonably awesome weather we are having, I think I will try to make it.

Ryan Oldham got number 8  DU last NYE. On the tee pad he said and I quote, "I'm gonna make this hole my b%tch." And with a lofty anny route, he did. Just sayin', something to the last day of the year (same as the first). ;)

Prospero Ano Nuevo y'all!

I agree, Jay should have birthdays more often...
At least once a year, and hey, what were the top three scores? 60,61,62?
