I say we throw out Jake's score.  Clearly that's an outlier intended to skew the stats for everyone else.

As long as you're throwing out the outliers, I guess you could throw out my 65. ;). With so many local faces, it was a fun night of golf.

This thread sums it all up. A bunch of people with opinions, a few with facts, and poor communication and misunderstandings.

The mission statement was the first thing I worked on the board to provide a focus for all to work towards. Yet, we have a lot more to do with the old leadership and new in this organization. Cooper, I know you live in Lawrence but I could see getting involved at that level. My two cents.

The bottom line is to do the work and communicate with the CC's, hence, the club. If we want to be a leading organization we have act like one and keep our online personalities with our face-to-face personalities.
This topic is very informative and I thank Cooper for his insightful responses. Now that we have espoused our solutions let's get done what needs to be done.  In other words, this is still talk, important, but still talk.

Don't ever worry about pissing someone off. My two cents. That's how things sometimes get done. I have been thinking about this topic for years and do often wonder why it takes the community of God to make something happen. It is a shame most people don't give, and I mean truly give, for all the right reasons. I am a huge supporter of local churches everywhere as they do so much good. And why do they do it? Well, that may be very personal to each individual, but I can bet one part is the camaraderie of doing something with friends for one purpose.  I think we have that in this dispersed and rag tag group. However, the fissures you speak of are obvious.

I agree with the railroading certain members often engage in to push a single agenda. I am glad to hear someone say it. I work against and with it but I am just one person.  Yes, we have lots of work to do in this organization. Communication is dysfunctional among us.

I have similar experience with trying to organize workdays. I get lots of advice about what I should and could do. I don't want to do it. I want some help. BTW, Patrick Smith and Chris Millsap have been great to work with at Swope.  I guess my stance is to keep going out and doing what I can and trying to encourage and engage more people. It is my M.O. to lead and model what I think works.

As for the PDGA league, I went out tonight and played with Ryan Keck and CD. What great company. They were so kind as they watched my good round implode. :)  The worst part was as I came in and announced my out-of-character 63, Jack was so happy because he qualified and beat me. :) Next time!  ;)

General Banter / Re: Is this possible?

I like to take some time off when I have the opportunity to play as much as I want. The summer my wife was in Europe for eight weeks I played five days a week, and played the best golf of my life, so far. In that time period I also took one week off in the middle for the Fourth of July. It is possible for me to play way too much. There are faults I can get focused on way too much. It's not enough to be aware of them either. There have been many times I have been completely conscious of my mistakes, yet continue to make the same mistake again and again. By taking time off, you give your muscles time to model the work you have been doing, so when you return it is built-in to memory.

Once again, find what works for you. I am convinced this is all technique and routines that each player creates over time. Take my advice with a grain of salt. I have not had the resources to catapult to the level of Loomis or Cooper.

Just got an e-mail letting me know that Stone Enjoy By 4/20/13 is coming to MO.  Bottled on 3/15, enjoy by or on 4/20!
I picked a bottle while in Colorado. I guess I have to drink it this week.

The West Plaza Tomato Company took 2nd in Grand Masters. He has won Masters before, so I think it's time to move up.
CD Steiner took 4th in Pro Grand Masters too! Nice shooting locals.

Elder Bird and The Bird Father shot a 40 at the original PHill....IN THE DARK!

I can confirm this. This was our fourth round of the day, and I think we were all going on alcohol and muscle memory. Still, great shooting! and a great time.

Loomis, Yoga, hell yeah. I use it every time I put. Rooting down and reaching out in all directions. And as Vince mentioned: breathe! Yes, it is great.

Technique and practice. Technique and developing a personal routine is huge. I am not great at disc golf, but far from crappy, and I have found that finding what works and sticking with it is how I improve. All of the feedback here has some truth, especially what Palmer said  :)
I just go out and try new shots. If they work, I start to work on them. The same with putting. I have two putting styles I switch between depending on the conditions and the shot. But most importantly, I always follow my routine.

The number one thing is attitude, previously mentioned as confidence. Why do you think Pros tell Ams to play up? To learn the winning attitude. I stay in shape and work had at everything I do because my attitude informs my performance. I have beat too many players because I crushed their head game with my winning attitude.

tsk tsk tsk.....
Courses are required to be set up for the first round configuration a minimum of 48 hours prior to the start of the event for
National Tour Elite Series Events and 24 hours prior to the start of the event for SuperTours. In the case of temporary holes
and/or courses where baskets are unavailable, the temporary configuration must be clearly marked...

I know how to catch a Jack. Put out info. about a PDGA tournament rule. I know "we" like to have them set a week before, so I was guessing in the dark.

I will not have the complete CC set up until the week before. Most holes will be set in the CC placements, but not at all. Some holes have the red practice pin in the CC placment and the flags are longer for a longer option. I am sure CC players can handle that since PDGA players only expect the course set the week before NT or A tier events.

If only Ian hadn't fallen off of the face of the earth...

I returned to Earth from my space travels to take care of the trash yesterday. It was a sled graveyard in the bottom of the cans. Also, I returned the missing trashcan on hole 8 that was sitting down on hole 5.

We need more like Ian. A big thank you to you.
