Tournaments / Re: Ace Race - August 29, 2015
« on: August 20, 2015, 02:29:46 pm »

It's back again and with it just around the corner it's time to get it going.

We are soliciting extra baskets. If you plan on playing early, bring it/them day of and we will have zip ties so you can attach it/them to existing baskets. We will stack some of them, side-by-side, triangle, and so on. If you would prefer we get the basket earlier, contact ekolk (Eric Kolkmeier) or Zier (Nate Zier) via this board or FB.

We will offer a Big Boy side bet the day of. $5 USD gets you in the pool. All funds will be split by number of aces, so if you get three aces you get 3 x $ whatever the amount ends up being. You can collect your ace funds at the end of the day or at the local disc golf retailer of your choice.

Not interested in that? No problem this is a fun event, not a tournament. We will have music, some beverages, vending, and lots of hooting and hollering per the usual Ace Race fun. $25 bucks gets you two prototype discs, a shirt, and some other swag. Best deal around  :)

Remember scoring is based on Aces and Metal/Fabric. So the more baskets we have out the more chances to score points. Yes, it will be a very short alternate course, so lots of opportunities, and I think I will add three more holes to the layout.

We expect 250 players so pre-register and bring some friends. This is my third time to co-run an Ace Race and I expect to do better and better. Looking forward to it.

You can register at both retail shops as well. DD and DGW are taking registrations.

Per our Ace Race tradition we are looking for extra baskets to give the players bigger targets to hit. Nate and I will figure out the best way to collect baskets for the event and get them back to their owners. Thanks in advance!

Barter Town / Re: Swap Meet
« on: July 20, 2015, 02:32:08 pm »
Here's a crazy idea: picnic and swap. Choose a DG course that has a decent pavilion and do a swap and picnic or BBQ at the same time. By placing it adjacent to a DG course, prospective swappers could test-throw unfamiliar discs on a nearby fairway prior to agreeing to the swap. Also, food makes everything better.  ;D

Great idea! We have done this before the club elections in the past and folks have stuff to sell and trade for sure. Thanks for getting this going and I hope I can make it.

;   Anybody ever hear of the National Anthem. .being played before a Disc Golf Tournament Begins...?

Punctuation? Your posts are a disaster since no one knows how to read them. Semicolon, space, period, space, period, continue question, ellipsis, and question mark.

I am a fan of the Oxford comma. How about that? That should make for some good banter...

If it weren't for godless communists, no one give two shakes about the anthem. It's a profession that WE are better than them and that is open to perspective and interpretation of what better is.

And thanks for the nod from Nova on reading from the player's manual. :)

I don't have any weird disc. They are all awesome and sexy. Yes they are. Some would laugh at my bag of Valks, Beasts, Roadrunners,Wizards, Wraiths, and Eagles,  but hey that damn Coyote never caught that Roadrunner now did he? Beep! Beep! :)

Just getting an idea on how many would be interested in a putting clinic host at California Trail?

Does this mean you want to play golf? Or you want to host a clinic? Are you looking for volunteers or just to play? If it is for the kids, I know some folks who are very interested.

Old Pike has done this for a while. Everyone volunteers for a week to bring food and it happens. When I was going it was really cool. I made a couple of crock pots and they were well recvd. Other folks do brats and chips, etc. Good idea for some courses with grills.
