General Banter / Re: Throwing Lefty
« on: April 19, 2012, 11:45:06 PM »
I've tried it, but my drives are horrible lefty so far.  My putts and short/medium upshots arent too bad, though.  Phil Arthur said monday evening the way he learned to throw lefty was to watch himself in a mirror throwing righty, then mimick it lefty.  Havent had a chance to try that out yet, though.

Beginners / Re: New Players League - Monday's
« on: April 18, 2012, 09:25:13 AM »
Normally, we meet up and play a round with 3-5 players on a card.  New player league does not cost and there is a CTP/ring of fire every week to have a chance at a new disc &/or other goodies after the round.  The last couple weeks have been a little different due to the quantity and qualtity of top professionals willing to share their knowledge.  Ben makes sure the newer players have experienced players on their card.  Everyone there is willing to share any info to help new players improve whether directly (active coaching) or just by the new player watching/copying the experienced player.  Hope to see ya out there.

Bag Tags / Re: Bag Tag Rules
« on: April 16, 2012, 02:19:51 PM »
To lose the lower tag (1 for example), the higher tag (2 for example) would have to win the round.  If it's a tie, the higher tag didnt win so no tags are exchanged.

Tournaments / Re: 2012 GBO - April 13th-15th

Great tourney with fantastic courses.  Too bad the wind made luck (lucky/unlucky bounces, rollers, knock downs) such an important factor (obviously by my last 2 rounds that is another part of my game that needs DRASTIC improvement...lol).  Awesome player pack (next time get more Buzz's and less Challengers for the other disc maybe?) and loved the poker tourney.  Thanks to all the volunteers and DD for a great experience at my first "A" Tier even though my score doesnt reflect it.

Wish we could have been there, but a nasty four letter word got in the way...work.  Sounds like alot of great information and help was available.  Definately look forward to the next one, though.

Rosedale / Re: New Players 2012
« on: March 29, 2012, 09:22:46 AM »
New player league is simply a league for new/newer players to play with more experienced players.  This way, whether through active "coaching" or just watching the more experienced players, the newer player can get tips on throwing, rules, and play in general.  As Ben mentioned, he tries to get local pros to give clinics a few times during the season (usually meet at Swope for the clinics).  As of right now, we are starting at 5:30 so we can fininsh before dark.  Hope to see you there.

Tournaments / Re: Rosedale Open - Sunday March 18th
« on: March 21, 2012, 11:57:01 PM »
Andrew actually talked to them on Sunday at the tourney about it.  Andrew PM'd Smitty on Monday after he (Smitty) had posted here and we saw the incorrect score on the PDGA site not catching that he wasnt the TD.  I posted here since the score was still incorrect. Andrew will email Scott since he now knows Smitty wasnt the TD.

Thanks,
Dale

Andrew Walters score is still incorrect.  He shot a 63 (round rating of 792) the first round, not a 67.  Please correct.

General Banter / Re: Visit to KC 5/28,29
« on: March 19, 2012, 08:35:06 PM »
The Brass Rail at 152 and Brighton is a pretty cool place.  Tons of TVs, pool tables and the food is pretty good although slightly overpriced.

What about a good sports bar and grill, maybe somewhere in the North KC area, to watch the Jayhawk game?

If you can only get in one course, I would recommend Blackthorn.  I love Beaver Creek, but the 'Thorn is a little more rounded course, longer, has all the pads (Beaver is still missing a couple due to changes to the layout) and they just finished hole 15 I hear.  If you can get in two, I'd suggest adding Beaver.  Woodhenge is a killer course by itself and when I played the Henge and Blackthorn together, my arm was spaghetti by the end.

Wanting to do the Smithville complex maybe Saturday morning, more likely Friday evening.  Which courses should we play if we only have time for 2?  Which if we can do only 1?

NP...I hit Renny long and Charlotte's Web.  Talk about a noodle arm after that....throwing almost 4 miles in one day (18k feet straight line let alone fade/errant shots - lost my blizzard wraith on Renny).  I hope to make it back there to try a couple more courses if I have any time off while im here in NC.  I'll give that Speed shop a try if I do make it back.

How long will you be there, Van?  I'm actually headed that direction and will be there next weekend (to Ft Bragg) and will be there for a while.  Might get to hit one of the courses together.
