Shawnee Mission / League 2013 (For real this time!)

Now that we're hopefully done with the rain and snow, let's get things started for real next Tuesday (4/2).

- 5:30 tee for now, until sunset continues to get later.
- $5 with ace fund for current KCFDC members.
- $5 + $1 Ace fund for non-members.

Hey guys, seems like now would be a good time to get started on our weekly league at Shawnee.

It's been a long off-season, so let's remember-

- Tuesday Nights
- $5 to play and $1 Ace Fund (Only $5 if a current KCFDC Member)
- Please show up at least 5-15 minutes before tee, to get signed up and organized

We'll start off this Tuesday, 3/19, and we'll tee at 5:30.

Shawnee Mission / Thoughts/Feedback

With 90 people playing the Frostbreaker this weekend, and I know more of you have been playing these last few weeks, I just wanted everyone's thoughts on how SMP looks nowadays. We added a handful of new pins, put in some more trashcans, and did other course improvements.

It seemed to me like most people like the new stuff, but I wanted to get as much feedback as possible.

I also wanted to note, before anyone says anything. The gravel around the teepads serves a couple of purposes-

-Levels off the Tees, some had significant drop-offs. For safety's sake, now no one can roll their ankle off the pad or anything.
-In the case of rain, it should hopefully keep things dry around the tee. Even if it's wet on the gravel, we won't have mud issues.

I also want to say that I don't love the gravel, but it's an improvement on how things were before and it solves those problems. So it fixed those issues, but it's not perfect. I'd still be interested in hearing what you guys think of if, I just wanted to explain the rationale.

Shawnee Mission / 9/25/2012 - Last League of the Year!

Alright folks, the sun is starting to set earlier and that means the end of the league year. Some leagues will be running glow into October and November, but this will be it for us at SMP. And because the sun is setting earlier, we'll tee at 5:30 to make sure we finish in time.


Since it's the last league of the year, we're gonna do some fun stuff to try and mix things up. I'm talking goofy mandos, alternate teepads, stuff like that. You won't want to miss this!

Another thing you wont want to miss is the Ace Fund, now at over $540! Only Wyco has a higher ace fund, and I'm pretty sure we've got waaaay more Ace Runs than WyCo.

So to summarize, this week at Shawnee Mission Park league-
-Mandos and Alternate Tees
-5:30 Tee (Be there as early as possible, we may have to go over some of the rules for the mandos and alternate teepads)
-$540+ Ace Fund

Shawnee Mission / 8/28/2012 Mini - 5:45 TEE TIME NEXT WEEK

The sun is starting to go down sooner, but we still had enough time to keep our 6:00 Tee on Tuesday. Next week (9/4/2012), we will tee at or around 5:45, so please show up before then so we can get all signed up and ready to go.

The new setup is very difficult, as you see. We'll get used to the new holes, but they are not easy, by any means.

With no ace, the Ace Fund is up to $526! Come and get it!

Shawnee Mission / League Tomorrow - New Pin Settings

Some of you may have heard about this already, but 9 new pin settings have been put in at Shawnee Mission Park! All of these are longer, tougher pin settings, really legitimizing the course like it never has been before. In addition, the pins are now on a more regular movement cycle, so the course won't sit stagnant like it has the last couple of years. The only thing really left to do is find a way to get the rest of the locks open (some are still stuck).

Today I went out and moved a bunch of pins, many of them to their new longer pin settings. You all ought to come and play league tomorrow, the course is really looking good.
