Lost a Blue First Run Sidewinder in there. Rewards to anyone that braves the murky water!

I'm exited now that we've got captains.

How are the 'tryouts' or whatever going to work again?

Recovery week after the Wide Open, we had 11 guys out, most of which populating the Advanced Division for the first time!

Mark Lienemann - 51
Brad Merys - 52
Peter Bures - 54
Connor Mitts - 58

Perry Martin - 55
Dan Leweke - 57
Brad Lenheim - 57
Kelly Markum - 57
Bill Hecht - 58
Jeff O - 60
Eddie Colbert - 61

With 8 people in, the Ace Fund climbs to $461. Now that I have a key to move baskets, the course should get moved around on a somewhat regular basis.

General Banter / Re: Disc Golf vs Ultimate
« on: June 04, 2012, 10:28:58 pm »
I played Ultimate competitively for a couple of years when I was new at disc golf, still play in Kansas City's Spring/Summer/Fall leagues. I'm not as serious as I used to be, but a lot of best friends are still Ultimate players so that way I get to hang out with them and drink beer.

I saw this video last week and was very happy to see Brodie put out a video with Avery, showcasing the golf side of the disc community. He puts out a lot of videos and gets a lot of publicity for the sport, so I'm glad to see him do this. He's even had a few plays put on Sportscenter's Top 10 Plays. With Ultimate gaining a lot of swing the last few years among High School/College kids, Disc Golf has been on a similar rise but hasn't gotten as much attention, at least it seems that way to me. The USA Ultimate College Nationals have been televised (recording) by CBS the last couple of years, even.

I still love Ultimate, but it got to the point where I had to choose which one I wanted to compete and grow in. I wish I could play both on a competitive level but there is just so much commitment required for either one; doing both just wasn't realistic.

As much as I hated the OB at Swope, I can't thank Timko enough for all the work he did. Guy had a busy week getting that course ready to go and it was amazing.

Found and Lost / LOST Yellow Star Sidewinder at Young
« on: May 28, 2012, 10:44:20 pm »
Just carried left into the lake on Hole 7. I saw it really close to the edge of the water, but after failures to retrieve it with a stick, the water was too murky to see it anymore.

Was curious if anyone was planning on fishing the lake before the WO? Or hoping someone will see it right by the edge.

I'd love to play this weekend but my little sister's graduation party is tomorrow.

Hopefully I'll be able to make one of the other dates. I had fun with this last year.

I really hope Swope Gold is set for next week, I'd love to get to practice it at some point.

I was talking to someone about this the other day, who noted that the GBO has more people play (usually) than the KCWO, but I feel like the KCWO is the NT Event and has more prestige.

Not sure why, this is my first year playing either event so I'm not sure.

Someone has to represent that group of Chuckleheads that is the KCFDC....might as well be Cooper.

Another question to Timko and other guys in the know....

Arturo and I were discussing at league this Wednesday, whether or not there would be lined OB on holes with mowed fairways. For example you can look at Hole 1 that has the fairway mowed short, with a huge landing area before the trees.

With that much grass mowed, throwing out of the fairway would be a pretty bad throw, and possibly deserving a penalty stroke. Other holes that stuck out as potential OB-lined holes were #6, #7, and others.
