Young Park - Blue Springs / Hole 17 - barricade wood pile
« on: November 28, 2014, 08:47:37 PM »
Out to play some golf this weekend and there was a recent addition on hole 17.  There is a stack of logs/limbs/brush in front of basket about 25ft away, 4 feet wide, and 40 ft long.  Just curious who had the energy to build this or if anyone knows of the folks that did?

Sorry for the late notice on this.  This Thursday, Nov 6th at 5pm Bad Rock Creek DGC will be officially open.  Liberty has demonstrated what a positive working relationship looks like among several parties involved in this  process.  Their commitment to this process from beginning to end has been outstanding. Their department was not afraid to invest in the type of work that is required to build and maintain a quality course.  Liberty is  another valued partner of the KCFDC.

If anyone would like to send them a thank you, please email at

Chris Wilson was the master mind of this project and has been 100% behind it from the get go. He trusted me and valued the input from so many golfers that have helped on this project.

« on: August 26, 2014, 01:35:00 PM »
Oct 4th is a work day at Yates getting it ready for Indep Disc Golf Day/Event.  Epic church will be representing with a large group.  They play regularly out there and have adopted that school as a community partner.

It looks really rough out there and we want to get it looking nice for the Indep Disc Golf Day/Event

Things to do:
Trim up trees
Remove honey suckle
repaint the "next hole" marker stones
Add chains to the baskets
(hopefully be adding nickels to the baskets) Eric Minton
Possible tee sign work if Eagle scout project is lined out.

Found and Lost / Yellow Boss and Chaz's glow in the dark Buzzz
« on: June 19, 2014, 02:26:59 PM »
I found a yellow Boss.  I helped the person look for it that lost it and then you left.  it was in a tree like you thought.  No name on yellow boss. I found this a couple weeks and forgot to post it on here.

Chaz- i found your disc this AM after going back and looking for mine.  no number on your disc and the number Pate gave me might be bad since i have not heard back from you.  if you know Chaz from BS/LS let him know to contact me.

Been awhile since Wilbur has seen some love and the course could use some TLC before BACA.  I know that 10 am on a work day is crazy time, however many disc golfers have non traditional hours.

Do not worry about not having tools. I have everything that we will need...chainsaws, loppers, backpack sprayers, chemicals, etc.

Contact Joe or myself by forum PMing.

« on: May 12, 2013, 09:24:33 AM »
My wife just told me about a clip of disc golf on the Real World in Portland  It was good video, better than most on tv shows where they just talk about playing disc.  Look closely at one of the discs they are throwing.  It aired on May 8th.

Young Park - Blue Springs / baskets moved March 9
« on: March 09, 2013, 06:36:28 PM »
I moved some baskets today to locations  with the slope facing south except 9 to rt.  Moved 10 long and  6 rt.  Certain basket locations that get more sun/more open or that face south will remain there for awhile or will be be moved  for erosion reasons(mud) and in order to grow grass.  I know folks get tired of playing certain holes over and over, but it is more important to get the grass to take hold.  Last year we roped off parts of fairways and high trafficked areas, raked in seed, and put down straw.  There is no straw for this year to be donated from my sources so i am focusing on what i can fix with limited resources.  So please be patient with the layout.  Course was seeded by the parks last fall and will likely be seeded again in spring, but it only takes a couple knuckleheads stepping in the mud and all that seed gets disrupted.  Ponds are full and are ready to swallow your discs ;D

Young Park - Blue Springs / Pads shoveled wed, feb 27th
« on: February 27, 2013, 02:25:40 PM »
all 18 long pads were shoveled today.  no baskets were moved.  i hope this is the last big storm to hit the area.  there are some really big snow drifts out there but all of the pads are super clean.   the  entrance to d.g.c   has not been plowed by city.  you can park at 9 in the h.s. lot by the tennis courts and softball fields.

Young Park - Blue Springs / Shoveled pads-Friday, Feb 22
« on: February 22, 2013, 05:24:31 PM »
All 18 pads are clean, some short ones as well.  Tough getting into back part of the park  where the parking for the course is because it has not been cleared, however some folks have been traveling back and forth leaving some ruts.  I would park by hole 9 if you do not have 4 wheel drive.

If you did not know this already, those pads are really big.
