IMO, the best thing you can do is become intimately familiar with your Disc Setup. There are PLENTY of discs out there. After awhile you start seeing overlap in the discs abilities. So finding a few discs that feel good to you is a great place to start. Once you've found a set, go to an open field and throw them over and over. experiment with different grips, learn your 'hyzer' and 'anhyzer' angles; Learn how to apply those throws to certain on-course situations. The best feeling in an actual round of golf is knowing exactly what your disc is going to do, and when you need to do it. This isnt a guessing game, but rather a calculated formula of fun!

TL;DR: Find a few discs you like, throw them over and over in an open field

Always fun playing Dubs at the Works! Next week, back to Old Pike Country Club! Fellow admin, K-Mont, and crew will be joining us on a field trip from USM. I plan on bringing some brats, so please post/PM  if you'd like to bring something as well. (you know you want to!) No Ace, and we paid out full CTP, SO the Ace fund stays at $150. we'll start accumulating next week again.

Mike Fenton takes home the CTP sponsored by Dynamic Discs. That's two in a row for that bloke! Once again, Arturo shows poise in the pocket! He and B-Wood win the field by one stroke! Jose wins CTP for $11 and Kevin takes $5. Cya next week!

Honestly there are a few "magic" recipes that some use to determine par. such as Close Range Par or Traditional Par. explained here.
In my opinion its a matter of how many legitimate throws it takes for someone to hole out. With this logic distance doesn't always dictate the # for par. Determining factors include foliage, elevation, distance and the relationship between tee/pin (think dog-leg, or other defined mandos)

Jordan:

I dont have any errors on the server that pertain to user-creation failure. What error message were you getting in particular? Possibly entering the incorrect 'Captcha' letters? I just tested another account in IE 8. Worked okay for me.

Can you tell me what Browser you are on?

Thanks!
