Last Wandering Wednesday, and we will have some Tallgrass beer!  Thanks to Tallgrass Brewing, Midwest Am Champs, and Dynamic Discs for providing the beer for us.  Ethos IPA, Buffalo Sweat Stout, and a few 8-Bit Pale Ale's.

Tournaments / Re: 2015 PDGA Pro and Am/Jr. Invitation Criteria
« on: September 01, 2014, 06:18:52 PM »
My last thought on this - personally, I think the sign up should be in tiers.  For example, I'll use MM1 - Advanced Masters because that is the division I played in at Emporia Worlds.  For 2013 and 2014 I had to have 200 points to be invited.  For 2015 I need 250 points to be invited.  So far this year, I already have 569 points, more than double what I need.  I suspect I'll end up with over 700 before the year is done.  But, current player rating is 833.  My rating when I was invited to 2013 Worlds was 828.  That's pathetic.  I felt like the Jamaican bobsled team.  I went, but there really was no chance for me to compete.  Don't get me wrong, I had a blast and will go again if I'm financially able to.

The tiers should be both rating and points.  Something like, for MM1, you have to have a player rating of 900 and 250 points to be in the first tier invitation.  After 15 days, if not sold out, then the next tear of 850 rating and 250 points.  After 15 days, rating of 825 or 200 points.  Something like that.

My three cents.

Speaking of which - PDGA Leagues earn you points for worlds invitations.  Wondering Wednesday has 1 league date left (9/3 at Swope) and Northeast Kansas City League has two league dates left (9/8 and 9/15) for you to earn points.  There are plenty of PDGA sanctioned events in KC and surround area the rest of the year.

***SHAMELESS PLUG***

I'm working on running a tournament in Lawrence on November 29, the Saturday after Thanksgiving.  More details to follow.

Tournaments / 2015 PDGA Pro and Am/Jr. Invitation Criteria

http://www.pdga.com/announcements/2015-pdga-worlds-invitation-criteria-posted

The invitation criteria has been posted for the 2015 PDGA Pro and Am/Jr. worlds.  The amount of points has gone up due to the overwhelming amount of people that have qualified the last couple of years and how quickly the tournaments have sold out.

My thoughts?

Overall, it is a good thing.  Selling out tournaments in 48 hours shows the demand is too high.  By making it harder, it *potentially* makes it leaner for the better players.

The timing is not great.  They should have announced this at the beginning of the year for the next coming year.  However, it is still possible to do something about it now.  Play tournaments - get points.

Winter Leagues / Re: September and/or October Wednesday glow?
« on: August 26, 2014, 01:16:32 PM »
Getting my thoughts a little more organized on this.

Currently considering doing a one rounder at each course:

Swope

Prairie Hill

Shawnee Mission Park - per this website, it is open until 11pm prior to Nov. 1st.  I've been there after 8pm after 11/1 and they do kick you out.  http://jcprd.com/park_admin/hours.cfm

Prairie Center - Front half only.  Holes 1-8, 18.  Do this loop twice.

WyCo

If we settle on these 5, it would run October 1 - Oct. 29.  Wednesdays at 6pm.

It would not be PDGA sanctioned.  It is possible to sanction glow rounds for PDGA, but after running 3 10-week PDGA leagues this year, I'm ready for a bit of a break from it.

P Hill is a great glow course. But it is alittle east.
Aaron, if we stopped at P Hill for one evening in October, any dates you prefer (Wednesday)?
