On a standard SSA course, yes 10 points typically equates to 1 stroke.

On e higher SSA course, say Blue Valley Long, 10 points is more like 1.2 to 1.4 strokes.  On an easy course, say Rosedale set short, or Swope set short on short pads, 10 point is more like 0.7 strokes.

For most courses in our area it would be about 1 stroke.

45 players have pre-registered.

Total of 7 Junior players have pre-registered which I think is super cool.

Kanza Krush Tees and OB Rules

Unless stated otherwise, all OB is OB line and beyond

Tees – Everybody uses the same designated tee box except when noted Short or Long.

Pool A – Plays all Longs. Everybody not in Pool B

Pool B – Plays all Shorts. Intermediate Women, Rec Men and Women, all Junior divisions, Adv. Sr. Grand Masters

HOLE 1 – OB sidewalk right, parking lot left.
HOLE 2 – OB Sidewalk right.
HOLE 3 – OB Sidewalk right
HOLE 4 – OB Creek right, long and left.
HOLE 5 – Creek right, sidewalk beyond basket

HOLE 6 – Short tee is where they have moved the actual triangle tee to near the tree. Long tee will be from sidewalk near where the triangle tee used to be. OB sidewalk left. Creek is casual.

HOLE 7 – OB sidewalk right, creek left.

HOLE 8 – Short is normal tee. Long is behind normal tee up hill on sidewalk near park bench. Creek is casual. Sidewalk is OB.

HOLE 9 – Playground left is OB. Hopefully will have OB line painted. Sidewalk long is OB.

HOLE 10 – Creek is casual. Sidewalk right and long is OB.
HOLE 11 – Creek is OB left. Sidewalk right is OB
HOLE 12 - Creek is OB left. Sidewalk right is OB
HOLE 13 - Creek is OB left. Sidewalk right and long is OB

HOLE 14 – Long Tee is normal tee box. Short tee is Drop Zone. Creek is OB left. Sidewalk right is OB. Mando left (must be left) of tree half-way down fairway. If you miss mando on any throw, take one penalty throw and go to drop zone.

HOLE 15 – Sidewalk left is OB.

HOLE 16 – Sidewalk left is OB. Mando left (will be same mando tree as hole 14)

HOLE 17 – Long tee is normal tee. Short tee will be moved up 200-300 feet not yet designated. Sidewalk left and right is OB.

HOLE 18 – Tee for both Pools will be moved directly across sidewalk to the inside of the loop. Regular tee box will not be used. Sidewalk right and long is OB.

Basic idea behind OB and tees -

If you run along side of a sidewalk, parking lot, or creek it is OB.

If a sidewalk or parking lot is behind the basket, it is OB.

If you cross a creek, the water is casual.

The two longest holes have a shorter than normal tee for lower divisions.

Two of the shorter holes (except 1) have a temporary longer tee to make it harder.

Playground is OB for safety reasons.

how far of a drive would it be to get it over the wall - not just hit it but over it?

I really don't know

MOVING COURSE TO ROSEDALE UP TOP TONIGHT

With the conditions, it would be best for us and the course if we didn't play Rose DU.  It would really suck if someone got hurt.

Meet at hole 1 Rosedale Up Top.  Sign ups start at 5:30, tee off at 6 meaning cards will go out 5 minutes before.

Thanks Jack for the advice.

Sorry Joe - going to stick with Rosie as it was announced last week we were playing DU.  This way I can post something down there to go back to up top for those that don't see us congregating.

If it wasn't random, then it would be seeded such that the #1 rated player would be paired up with the #36 rated player.  As this isn't a PDGA event, if a player didn't have a rating determining seeds would be next to impossible and open up for a lot of lively discussion.

So, this year we are going with a random format.  With the payout table, you could potentially get last on your card first round, but if you placed first on your second round (with other last place first rounders), you would still get some payout.

(See Round Place Pattern).

This is a new format of tournament play that we don't see very often.  Admittedly, players that are mid-Intermediate and higher for Ams would place better.  Advanced players can play in Open and not jeopardize their Am Status as this is non-sanctioned.

I thought there were already 2 leagues at Rosedale on Mondays - ladies and beginners.  As it is the ladies only, I think we can coexist on the same course for one night.

For those that have been DU in the last 48 hours, do you recommend we move to Up Top for PDGA league tonight due to muddy conditions?

yeah, I was afraid of that.  I'm concerned though that if we try to change locations now there will be a big huge confusing mess as to which course we are moving to.  I guess we can discuss with those that do show up about playing up top instead.

Tentative payouts based on full registration. Pro pays cash, Am pays store credit at Dynamic Discs - Kansas City. Thanks DDKC for the added cash to pros and ams!

Of course, if it doesn't fill then payouts will be adjusted.

You had me until that part about randomly assigning cards. I totally DO NOT have a problem playing against men, but am's go up to 985. Bring randomly matched up against someone rated 100-200 points higher than me wouldn't be fun. It's your tournament, and you totally run it however you want to run it. I just wanted to explain why I can't play, since I know you want to see an increase in your women competitor numbers. I don't want you (or all the other men who plan tournaments) to think it's simply a lack of interest.

Amy I understand.  This is a very new format.  If it goes well, maybe we can try a women division next year.  Meanwhile, both DDKC and Maverick Disc Golf have lots of other tournaments with divisions for all ages, genders, and playing ability.
