Re: The Video

I'd for sure work on taking that left hand off the disc on your pullback. You do for a bit but sort of put it back on right before you begin accelerating the disc.

It also looks like it is swinging a little too far off your chest (is making the disc line too rounded). Might be a trick of the angle, but if not and you can focus on getting a more straight pull through you should be able to get some more speed on the disc.
Thanks Cooper!

I hadn't ever noticed the back hand grab the disk. It's only for a split second but that's enough to alter the line.

And I do see what your talking about with the disc being a little far off the chest. I need to work on that! I compared it with several of the other videos I have and it looks like the fact that I'm not opening up my hips early enough could be exasperating this as well.

What are you seeing with the front foot. I'm loving this feedback!!!!!

What time? I have'nt played DU and I would like to play both courses tomorrow.

We were thinking between 7:30 and 8am. I like to get out early so I can spend the rest of the day with my family.

Chris and I are pushing for a morning round or two tomorrow at Rosedale if anyone is interested. We wanted to try to hit both courses. Might push for a 36 hole non-stop golfaganza if our arms aren't falling off after the first 18 :P

This has been a super thread!!!  Thank you guys for pushing to make our club a true community!  I got into disc golf years ago because it was what I could afford on a college student budget but I have stayed because of the culture.  It is amazing to see this culture hold.  As our community grows it gets harder and harder to maintain that and you guys have really stepped up to make it happen!!!!!

Andy Portwood and I meet up at some course at least one day every weekend and would love to get any instruction we can get.  We both have cameras that take high speed video and playback slow motion replay to break things down so hopefully we can help you out as well using the tools we have.  Look forward to seeing you guys on the course.

Yes, we have done a lot of filming and it definitely helps to find areas of improvement. Both of us are happy to lend our filming capability for anyone, especially (but not limited to) those that can help us on our game as well. Let either of us know if interested!

Ps: sorry about the hyperlink. Couldn't figure out how to post the video directly from my phone.

Any help would be appreciated. I would also love the ability to take what I have learned and pass it on to others.

Agree! One of the things I took away from being a martial arts instructor was this line:

"The best teachers are those that can give others the passion to teach."

I am always in need of instruction. There is only so much online clinics can teach a person who learns best from hands on experience.  :P

I also want to say how awesome this event was and how much fun I had. Even though I tanked hardcore in the second round and had a tail light cracked from an errant drive, I learned a bunch and met some great people.

Thanks to Scott for running the event and for talking me into playing up. It was nice to know I could hang around at blue valley. Time to start working on CD. 2013 league, here I come!!!

Ps: Could someone tell Dan Cashen that I would love to have a picture that he took of the disc hanging out of my tail light? After I got over the initial shock I realized that it was a thing of hilarious beauty  ;D

Is the same format for final nine from this year still in consideration? Because that was the coolest thing to watch!  ;D

Do you mean using the current course as the 'competitive' course? It feels a lot like it is beginner friendly right now. (Though with some tweaking I think we could get it there).

I completely agree! I think the potential for this course is huge. Though, I think the majority of the park is a gold mine of disc golf potential.

Wanna get together sometime and walk through some ideas? I was thinking using the main course for a lot of it (with some alternate pin placements) and then bumping over towards that pond for 4-5 holes could make for some pretty challenging and good-looking golf.

And there's an island!

That area across the street from 7/8 has some sweet possibilities.  The island in the pond could have two pins on it (it's shaped like a kidney bean, yes?  it's been several years since I wandered around over there.)  You could also put a few temp holes out to the south and west from hole 3 long.  Two sections of temp pins to add 9 holes would make a nice 27 hole tourney layout.

Love these ideas! Chris and I played there yesterday and we both stated how there needs to be more tournaments on that course and having a few added pins, especially on that island from 5's tee pad and then a temp pad from on or around the island back up to 5 long or either of 6's pins would be a fantastic challenge!  ;D
