Here are the addresses to the Disc golf shops here in the metro area:

Disc Golf World
509 E. 18th Street
Kansas City, Missouri 64108
Phone: 888-237-6884

Dynamic Disc Kansas City
2854 West 47th Street
Kansas City, KS 66103
Phone: 913-738-6908

Also, a good series of educational videos is the 'Discmainia: Deep in the Game' on YouTube. It was a big help for me when I was trying to learn more.

Another great way to learn is by joining one of the weekly leagues. I like the friday traveling leagues, myself. Our community is great for teaching newer players. You can always post on here to see of there is anyone that would like to meet you for a round :)

Found and Lost / LOST - Blizzard Katana @ Birdland
« on: August 17, 2013, 01:08:24 PM »
I was out with my son this morning and he set down his Pink Blizzard katana and forgot to pick it up somewhere between hole 13 and hole 15. It is his favorite disc and he was really upset when he realized he left it. Reward (and probably a hug from a grateful 5 year old)  if returned!!!!

I personally like 3 rounds, 2 day tournaments.

As a Rec or Adv. Master player, I prefer A-tiers because it prevents non-rated players from playing down.  However, I believe this tournament wasn't too much of problem for that.

If the spirit of the tournament is a Regional (i.e. multi-state) Championship, an A-tier seems to make sense.

I also like to have some sort of function where all players can get involved.  Didn't see any of the Adv. Master, Grandmaster guys all day.  Mini-disc course & night ace race courses are fun.

I agree with this. I also like the two day thing. I was terribly upset when I found out about the way the Wide open was done for the Rec and Int. players (though I understand why Jack made that decision) because I wanted the whole experience but still be competitive at my skill level. I went in to the WO knowing that I wasn't going to be playing for anything but pride and while it was still a good time it was missing the feeling of true competition in my opinion. The MAC had that and it showed by how close the scores were from top to bottom.

I think this tournament went as good as any could have! Perfect weather, course layouts, flow, and gamesmanship among all the cards I saw. I think the only real wait I remember was at Rosedale when a family decided to take a -VERY- leisurely stroll through the middle of #2's fairway. Many thanks to Scott, Pete, Matt and all of the DD crew and an even bigger thank you to all of the volunteers! You guys made this event a major success and I think word of mouth alone will have players chomping at the bit to play this next year.

I really hope that the MAC keeps all divisions on the same schedule. I want to keep the spirit of competition alive throughout all divisions. The way I see it this is supposed to be a "championship" tournament so that should make this competitive and challenging all the way through. And if you think about it, the Intermediate division made up more than 28% of the entire field alone (51/180) and it was still tight scoring. Because we were all at about the same level it made this event that much more enjoyable. Again going back to the WO, the field was exploded after the first round in the advanced division because you had Adv., Int., and Rec all playing in the one division just because they didn't want to miss out on any of the same courses that the Pros played. While it was still fun, it was missing that feeling of "I have a chance!" before you even sent the first drive down the fairway.

In summation, my hope would be to keep all divisions playing the same all of the same courses and make it a true championship for all levels of competition.

I am going to be bringing in my basket sometime this week for you. Probably Thursday or Friday. I'll try and "borrow" Chris' before I head up there...  ;D

Only if we can follow you around with a boombox playing the Imperial March as you move down the fairway....  ;D

there is a lack of active 'senior grandmasters' in the kcfdc.
I suggest renaming the division, to 'imperial grandmasters' to bolster activity.

Found this and thought it was both fashionable AND functional  ;D

I've got a brand new Starlite Valk 150, yellow.  Thrown maybe 5 times.  I'd trade you for the Stiletto if you're willing..
Sure as long as the Valk is in great shape.  I live in Lawrence, work in Overland Park.
I'm playing in the B Pool for Midwest Am Champs so will be at Rosedale 8-9am Saturday, 8/3.  Waterworks in the afternoon sometime.
I'm also intending to play in the Friday Traveling League.  1pm at Waterworks (8/2). Probably will be at Rosedale sometime in the AM.

If this deal doesn't go through I have a bunch of these things your interested in. Would love a chance at the Stiletto but I'll wait for my turn at it  :P

Can't wait!

152 players, all Ams for a B-Tier.  Freaking awesome.

I know! I was talking to Harold today about how amazing it is that it is that full of only ams. He was telling me they were even talking about it in Wichita when he was down there this week. Just imagine how much this event can expand in the next few years!  :P So excited!!!!!
