Pleasant Hill / Re: Finding Morels, While Play, is a Bit Distracting
« on: April 25, 2014, 08:12:01 am »
Sounds like a nice time on the course. The year I found 150 shrooms by the Junior 9 at BV, I was actually taking a buddy for his first ever round of disc golf. Once we got into those morels we decided his first round of disc golf would happen some other time. ;D

They say that about all of their events, don't they?

bring your bike, we'll ride us some cliff trails after the jlowe goodwill tour stop.

My Big Sur is at Biscarri Bros getting a new cassette and full tune-up as we speak. If I'm to sabotage this trail, I'll need to blend in. 8)

Kaizher is definitely in. 8)

Marc Styhals: Out.

Dude, have you seen it out there lately? What a mess. Those people in that neighborhood don't deserve anyone coming out there to break a sweat for them anymore. There's a disc golf course there as a result of lots of peoples' hard work but other than that, what difference has any of it made out there? And then there's the work you'll do that'll end up being pointless when someone decides to put a bike trail in. I've had it up to here. You go ahead and put your work in at Cliff only to have some dirtbag sh1t all over it again afterwards. There are other places where your work will be better appreciated and the fruits of which might actually last.

I've grown tired of doing things for people who don't otherwise give a f*ck.

I concur. Just curious, what # are we up to now as far as the latest member?

General Banter / Re: Pdga ratings, I don't get it.

You wanna talk about not understanding, they gave me a 966 player rating based on one round, which I must've been in miracle mode that day or something. If I would compare myself to other disc golfers who have ratings near 966, then my actual rating should be like 850. ;D

Well, the 4 people who go to Wyco league must've spoken really loudly! ;D

WYCO / Re: Moving league to Wednesday?

I don't think Wyco or Legacy necessarily need to be moved from their spots on Friday. I just wish one of the more centrally-located courses had a Friday league is all.

I can't run it since I work evenings and will only have a handful of Fridays off during league season. If you can swing it I say make it so, but maybe there should be a vote or poll of some sort first. I wonder what good old Ryan Westa has to say about all of this? Ryan, where are you dude?

Happy 60th birthday, Jim!

Funny, I'd always considered Rick Rothstein to be the father of disc golf. Shows how much I know... ;D

Geez guys. This is about as enforceable as doing 72 in a 65 at 5:10 pm. Do what you think is the right thing to do. For me, I call the owner two times. If they don't come and get it, it's mine.

That's why it's ridiculous that the state would have a say in the matter at all. Seriously, anyone who calls the cops over a golf disc is a bigger d-bag than those who don't try to turn in the lost discs they find.

The cops are wrong. I agree it's a sh1tty thing to do but show me the law.

Hey Mike - we haven't had a discussion lately.  Hope things are going well.

Keep in mind this article is about a specific course in FL.

Looks like a commentor from that article found the law you were looking for.

705.102 Reporting lost or abandoned property.—(1) Whenever any person finds any lost or abandoned property, such person shall report the description and location of the property to a law enforcement officer.
(2) The law enforcement officer taking the report shall ascertain whether the person reporting the property wishes to make a claim to it if the rightful owner cannot be identified or located. If the person does wish to make such claim, he or she shall deposit with the law enforcement agency a reasonable sum sufficient to cover the agency’s cost for transportation, storage, and publication of notice. This sum shall be reimbursed to the finder by the rightful owner should he or she identify and reclaim the property.
(3) It is unlawful for any person who finds any lost or abandoned property to appropriate the same to his or her own use or to refuse to deliver the same when required.
(4) Any person who unlawfully appropriates such lost or abandoned property to his or her own use or refuses to deliver such property when required commits theft as defined in s. 812.014, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.

Mike Hyzer was wrong. Stealing discs that people were too lazy or too unresourceful to recover is a sh1tty thing to do, and Rob M has shown me the law.
