General Banter / Re: One of the wrecks from this weekend at Pikes Peak

I've done the Pike's Peak as a spectator at the Devils Playground. We stood on the road as the cars went by, you could reach out and touch them. Pike's Peak is one of the coolest races I've been to. It's amazing they didn't die in the crash.

Thanks for the vid

Today I saw a Coupe, a Wolf, an Ace, a Phenix and one date 1984 plus a hand made bag that was multi-colored. Because of the things he told me I won't say his name. (JB)  He's a guy I work with and still uses the disc' and bag.

Oh and I would like to play the Ace Race, you guys need some one to come in last.  :P

Water Works / Re: Trash Talkin'

Can you put trash bags in the bottom of the cans? That way if someone wants to empty the can , thre is a fresh bag. If this has already been hashed out , never mind. I have seen trash on the courses and have not picked it up. After reading the article, it opened my eyes a little.
Oh well ,I'm new here so never mind

Clover Dell Park / Re: Clover Dell map
« on: August 05, 2012, 02:35:32 PM »
Thanks, I will be back in a week and give it a shot. The OB on the sign is the dog park fence, it makes sense now.  I'm just a little slow or old or something.

Clover Dell Park / Clover Dell map
« on: August 04, 2012, 10:23:13 PM »
We were on our way to Warsaw and I stopped at Clover Dell. Looking at #1 tee, it looks like it goes over the road. The tee sign faces the road. I didn't play because of time but wondered if a map is availible?  We went by the course at Warsaw, all wide open. My wife will like that, it's small but better than nothing.

thanks

General Banter / Seniors? how many?
« on: July 25, 2012, 12:52:08 PM »
I know I'm new but I have many questions.
I am 56 years old and just started playing Disc Golf. I have played Frisbee every since the 70's and can throw a Frisbee very well. Now it's a new game.

I was reading ( I research every thing) PDGA's web site and found this about Seniors.    www.pdga.com/files/documents/Senior-Disc-Golf-Tips.pdf

It bases seniors at 50 years old.
Is there a Seniors league in the area? How many out there are in this age group? And what are you doing different then the younger player?

I know I do not have the flexibility the younger players have. I do keep it in the fairway, just not that far.

It's HOT
Cheers

Thanks for the invites. I have been hitting Legecy after 7:30/8 to beat the heat. I'm heading for Nebraska this weekend , there is a course in Ashland  we are going to hit. I go back to work in a couple of weeks so the afternoon times will work.

I have been reading the web and found this  http://www.quadcitydiscgolf.com/TipsForSuccess  I have to remember it takes time .

The best line is there is no secret to learning golf quickly. If you guys are up to it, I'll take you up on the offers in a couple of weeks.

Man is it hot
Cheers

Thanks, after reading the internet tips.  I think until I get comfortable with playing, I'm not going to worry about a score. I'm doing OK to keep the disc in the fairway and out of the weeds.  I read more then once about control vs. distance. Watching others throw , I wanted more then I am capable of. First things first, Pleasent Hill has Rec Par and I need to stick to that.

I used to be a good Ball Golfer and just wanted to do welll with the disc. I understand the mechanics but don't have the technics down.
I think I found a sport I can truly get into. My wife who doesn't care for outdoor stuff , wants to play. I gave her a putter and she tried. That is a good thing for me.

As for now, just don't point and laugh. At lest I'm keeping it out of the weeds.

Cheers

Hi everybody. I'm an old guy who just started playing and  I'm new to the game. (old Frisbee player)  I have been going to Legecy and P-Hill. Wow I'm addicted and started this as a way to loss weight but have found a new love. The best part is everyone I have ran in to has been very nice and friendly. I really liked the way I was treated at DGW and the poeple I have encountered on the courses have been great.

I would like to say Thank You to the young man that helped me out at P-Hill on Saturday, it helped me put another 40/50 feet to my throw. I'm still working on it.

If you see me out on the courses, give me a break. I'm old and fat and very out of shape but am enjoying my time on the field. I have the summers off and have been going out in the mornings to beat the heat.

Here is what I need to know. I have Par'ed a few baskets and wondered how far do they figure a throw is to make a Par? A 215 ft is Par 3 and a 450 is Par4. How is this figured?

Thank you
Mick
