Thanks guys.  Never bothered to check their forums.  Figured they would be redundant since it was a course review website.

General Banter / New Forum Section Suggestion - "Equipment"
« on: July 14, 2014, 10:25:35 PM »
Just wanted to know if anyone would be interested in a new section on the forum that deals exclusively with equipment. There could be a section for bags, putters, new equipment, ect.  People can post any of the latest discs they hear about or see.  I am always looking to see what people think about a particular disc in a particular plastic at a given weight.  Get some research before putting down good money on a disc or bag I may not like.

I just think it is important enough to have it's own section.

Thoughts?

Congrats to "The Nailer" on a great ace at PC #5 yesterday 7/11/14. Nothing but chain.

So what is the final decision?  and what times?

According to DGCR Old Pike is Pay-to-play.  Is this still true?  I've never played it. Says $50 per year and no daily passes.

Looking at the Olathe Parks & Rec site, there is NO Adult soccer league anywhere.  I wonder if they reserved the fields or just show up?  They looked rather organized but who knows.  Maybe We should just Call Parks & Rec to see if they are even supposed to be there.

Prairie Center / PC Unplayable on Sunday
« on: June 30, 2014, 08:49:30 AM »
Went to PC this Sunday to play a nice hot round of golf around 4 with some friends.  Was having a good day until we got to hole 11.  There were about 50 people camped out on the course with kids running around and even someone sitting on the box. We proceeded to ask them to move so we could play through them.  With the exception of the little kids playing with the basket chains, they moved out of the way.  But I was not going to throw anywhere near the basket for fear of hitting someone.

Everyone was there for two adult men's soccer matches.

Then we got to hole 12. Same thing.  We again asked them to move so we don't hit them and mostly they just stared at us.  One guy who was a player came up to us and asked what the big deal was and why don't we just skip the hole since we have 100 other holes to play. He also asked if we had money on the game and since we didn't we should just move along.

Had he not been surrounded with 4 soccer teams and their families it could have gotten ugly.  It was starting to with the insulting nature of the player.

SOMETHING needs to be done.  We were not playing on their soccer field.  They need to respect our playing field just as much.  I was told this is a week issue.  I was not happy and very frustrated for the rest of the round.

We basically lose 2 holes every weekend.  What do we do?

Of course one of the problems is that it goes dormant very early and is only green for about 3-5 months of the year.  When in doubt plant native.  Buffalo.  Otherwise fescue is the economical alternative.

General Banter / Re: Best 3 courses in town?

Rosedale has two courses.  An upper course and a lower course (Called "Down Under") Upper is a great balanced course, some open, some wooded.  Lower course is all wooded. shorter and more technical.  Rosedale is also centrally located.  Probably the most popular course because of it's location. Great course all around.

One of my favorites is Lakeside (Birdland): http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=6062 Longer course, good elevation changes. Great mix of open and wooded. A bit of a drive depending on your location.

Classic and popular one is Swope Park: http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=1890. Also a good location but a shorter more open course.

If you like the cool courses I would recommend Wilbur Young (The Youngle) http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=3956 Shorter but heavily wooded. Also a bit of a drive but a fun newer course.

Just my opinion. Hope that helps.

Let's not forget that many of these places have after hours patrons who tend not to be of drinking age. So, I don't think most of the garbage is actually from golfers.
Luckily the tee pad on hole 14 at Prairie Center, the vegetation has overtaken the garbage.  Some trash cans would help there.

I don't know if this just started but hopefully this can be a better way to communicate upcoming events.  I am not a big fan of these forums.  I find them hard to navigate and find what you need.  I am on Google+ and am sure many others are.

So far I am the only one following the Google+ page so let's see if we can get more on it.

No kidding.  We should be assistant directors or something.  Bogus!

Anyway, he is clearly not a tree hugger.  He is a tree killer.  He was trying to chop wood all day long.
