Prairie Center / Work on First Hole
« on: October 27, 2014, 08:47:48 AM »
I know Mr. Butler oversees this course and wanted to ask/suggest about doing some work one hole 1.

I would first want to say that I would be willing to volunteer my time to help in this endeavor.

The two issues I'm sure everyone is aware of.
  • With the unannounced removal of the left pine tree, the left pin placement is no longer very interesting.  I would suggest moving it somewhere behind one of the two remaining trees or some other protected placement.
  • The Right placement has started to heave out of the ground resulting in the basket leaning.  Not terrible yet but by next year I am sure it will be bad.

I have never placed new collars in the ground so I don't know the time/effort required but I can't imaging it is significantly different from doing fence posts.  I would think with four people we could get it done in a day.  And since the fall is here, traffic should be less (maybe).

Just a thought.  Suggestions?  Thought?

Prairie Center / Found - Backpack w/ discs
« on: August 16, 2014, 03:40:04 PM »
Found a backpack last week with some discs in it.  Two discs had two different numbers and neither matched the paperwork inside the pack.  Byron Bruce was the name inside.

General Banter / New Forum Section Suggestion - "Equipment"
« on: July 14, 2014, 10:25:35 PM »
Just wanted to know if anyone would be interested in a new section on the forum that deals exclusively with equipment. There could be a section for bags, putters, new equipment, ect.  People can post any of the latest discs they hear about or see.  I am always looking to see what people think about a particular disc in a particular plastic at a given weight.  Get some research before putting down good money on a disc or bag I may not like.

I just think it is important enough to have it's own section.

Prairie Center / PC Unplayable on Sunday
« on: June 30, 2014, 08:49:30 AM »
Went to PC this Sunday to play a nice hot round of golf around 4 with some friends.  Was having a good day until we got to hole 11.  There were about 50 people camped out on the course with kids running around and even someone sitting on the box. We proceeded to ask them to move so we could play through them.  With the exception of the little kids playing with the basket chains, they moved out of the way.  But I was not going to throw anywhere near the basket for fear of hitting someone.

Everyone was there for two adult men's soccer matches.

Then we got to hole 12. Same thing.  We again asked them to move so we don't hit them and mostly they just stared at us.  One guy who was a player came up to us and asked what the big deal was and why don't we just skip the hole since we have 100 other holes to play. He also asked if we had money on the game and since we didn't we should just move along.

Had he not been surrounded with 4 soccer teams and their families it could have gotten ugly.  It was starting to with the insulting nature of the player.

SOMETHING needs to be done.  We were not playing on their soccer field.  They need to respect our playing field just as much.  I was told this is a week issue.  I was not happy and very frustrated for the rest of the round.

We basically lose 2 holes every weekend.  What do we do?

General Banter / KFDC is on Google+
« on: June 05, 2014, 11:16:45 AM »
I don't know if this just started but hopefully this can be a better way to communicate upcoming events.  I am not a big fan of these forums.  I find them hard to navigate and find what you need.  I am on Google+ and am sure many others are.

So far I am the only one following the Google+ page so let's see if we can get more on it.

Prairie Center / Too Many Trees Removed
« on: February 28, 2014, 10:27:17 PM »
Man, just played today and the basket on one is wide open now that they removed all but the rear tree surrounding the basket.  They have taken out many trees in the past year and I think the basket locations need to be re-evaluated on at least hole 1 and 4.

I know they only remove them if they are diseased but it is sad nonetheless.  Hoping they can use a few of those new trees that were planted on 10.

Beginners / Disc Flight Guide
« on: February 19, 2014, 02:24:53 PM »
Found this cool disc flight chart analyzer that is great for all but a must for beginners.

No idea how new or old it is but it has every disc I can think of in it.  And a bunch I've never heard of.

Have fun
