General Banter / No Disc Golf carts?
« on: February 09, 2016, 07:06:34 PM »
Why doesn't anybody use Golf carts when they play DG? Is it because of the costs associated with having a golf cart are prohibitive for most DG'ers or maybe our courses aren't designed for motorized carts? Does anybody have any experience with Disc Golfing from a golf cart - locally?

Saturday April 2nd at 9:00 am. This will be the twenty-sixth year of cleaning the Blue River
Sites appropriate for all ages and abilities!
Breakfast, lunch, tools, supplies, gloves and a t-shirt provided.
Fun guaranteed!
Ideally, I would like for there to be enough golfers that participate so that we don't take volunteers from other sites. *(If possible)*

Thanks for running this event Kujo! Also, the swept tee-pads were a nice touch. Nova spent the whole time walking around and re-sweeping the pads as people would track snow on them. I just wanted to say thanks.

I wanted to say thanks to Jim Kreeger. He does more (volunteer) work on a disc golf course than probably anyone in town and maybe as much as anyone in the world. If you see him, out at BV working by his turquoise truck, you should say hi (he loves to talk about DG). We put in another 4 placements this morning, which makes a total of 9 over the last week or so. The new settings are at 1 (par 4), 11 (par 3), 17 (par 3), and 18 (par 4). Also, Jim cleaned out a ton of honeysuckle last week - so that the new placement on 3 will be even more enjoyable to play.

Put two more pins in today, the first is a par 4 on hole #3 and second is also a par 4 on #6 - they will be playable Friday or Saturday. I'm going out this Saturday morning and intend to put the last 5 pins in. If anybody would like to help I will be at the parking lot  #1 @ 9 a.m.

please don't

FTL at BV would be great! I will have a cooler FULL of beer for after the round. I will set everything short and we can play the BIG boy course.

That's what I'm trying to do SteelerDoug. There was actually a bunch of people playing out their today - in shorts/tshirts, 65  degrees in December (oh yeah).

Every hole at Blue Valley now has a long and a short setting. 4, 10, and 15 were set today and will be playable on Friday. There are some really cool places to put additional settings, a par 4 on hole 3 - way up on the hill that overlooks the lake. Maybe shorter settings for both 17 and 18? I would like to put a few more pin placements out there - maybe 5 total, and then get some new maps/signs made. Does anybody have any ideas?

I put in two new placements today. A short placement for 12 and another on 13. I also dug short placements on 4, 10 and 15, I will plant those tomorrow. The course will be going from all long to all short starting this Friday.

Thanks Jack, that was nice and much appreciated.
I was out there yesterday, playing and picking up trash, It looks better now. P&R came out and picked up all of the little white bags of trash by the road (those were ALL mine) and a huge brush pile that Kujo, Jim and I created on #7. P&R was supposed to do it last week but just didn't get to it.
I would not want gates at BV - mainly because it wouldn't help (hardly) at all. Most of the trash at BV is from people using the park and not cleaning up after themselves. They drink beer/have sex and throw the bottles/condoms out of the car window  over by the short basket at 7 and 13/14. That is different than the dumping of construction waste down the side of a steep hill like at Cliff.
I have had that entire park trash free only to come back a week later to see more trash. So I try to focus my limited (volunteer) time to adding new pin placements and trying to beat back the honeysuckle - and pick up trash as I play.
It is really cool to have tourneys out there as they bring in so many players who would not play a casual rd. at BV. I hope Rob does this next year and makes a tourney stamped discs.
