Blue Valley / Re: Earn your Green Frees.

Plan of Attack - We will be cutting tree shoots and honeysuckle off of the fairway trees and adding said brush to the large brush pile that are scattered throughout the course. P&R is going to remove the piles once we are done (also remove dead trees/stumps). I would ask anybody who planned on coming out to bring a hand saw, I only have two extra. As an added incentive to the volunteers - we will be hitting Hi-Boys (best burger in town) for lunch afterwards. We will get started @ 11, I will be out there @ 10:30. Hope to see ya'll out there.

The officer said it was because of Kansas only having plates on the rear of the vehicle, and that people would try to hide their expired tags by backing in. I told him that I was from Mo., he told me that I still would of got the ticket." BTW, are you guys saying only gay guys, looking for love on the DL, back in to parking spots.

While I was out there today, they were writing tickets in the parking lot. Lucky for me I was warned that they would ticket for backing in. I asked the officer, that was out there, if that was true and he confirmed that it was. It is posted but I just couldn't believe it.

Is he the infamous Jim Krieger? I don't have his # or contact info. I have relayed the info. to Ben C., and touched bases with David B. with P&R.

I am sorry for the no show. If you would put the buy in at $5, people could go and have a $8 burger and a couple of drinks for a $20 dollar bill. With all of the nice weather, I think people were out throwing.

I started work on L10 this evening. I was only out there for 1 hour, but I cleaned up 5 trees. The next official workday will be Sat. February 1st, and the first Saturday of every month there after. That makes for five official workdays before BV hosts the KCWO. Come on out and earn your Green Free.

We had a productive afternoon today. We walked L5 and cleaned up the trees while looking for the long pin placement (never found it), We cleared honeysuckle/trimmed the tree shoots/vines from the fairway trees on L9. We opened up the tree barrier and cleared a lot of honeysuckle at S13. Thanks to Ben, Adam, and his, out of town, friend Bobby for all the work today. 8 man hours total.

The next work day @ BV will be Saturday 1/11/14 @11:00 a.m. If you can show up with a handsaw and/or a set of loppers, and help trim some tree shoots/cut out some honeysuckle - you will be a benefit to the park and the club. I will only ask for two hours of your time.

I know that it is cold, but if dressed warmly it really isn't all that bad -as long as we stay moving.
If the weather conditions are really bad I will postpone this , but it is January, so it's cold out.

Maybe I am cheap - but ten sounds steep. Maybe five to keep it interesting, just my .02 cents.

Blue Valley / Kids league
« on: December 30, 2013, 03:23:20 PM »
A new, kids league will be started this Spring at Baby Blue (nine hole course) on Thursday nights. The only cost will be $1 dollar that goes to the club. Hopefully, some of the better players around town will take an interest and come out to share some of their knowledge. Also, when the kids outgrow Baby Blue we could migrate over to Little Blue. If you don't have kids - bring your niece/ nephew/ younger siblings/ or even neighborhood kids .This is an opportunity to grow the sport and play some more golf.
