I'll see what's going on that weekend. I'm undecided if I'm going to the Oppna yet.

Thanks for the notification. I'll touch base with Rob so he can get it fixed. I don't have access to, nor do I know how to do, any of that.

Tournaments / Ace Race - August 29, 2015
« on: July 20, 2015, 10:40:41 pm »
Saturday, August 29th @ Swope Disc Golf Course - Cost: $25

On-site registration starts at 9 a.m.

If you’ve never played in an Ace Race, now’s your chance!
Kansas City is blessed to have such a great Disc Golf community and since we have over 150+ Ace Race players in the past, KC is considered a “Super Event."
Two flex-start rounds of 18 holes, one throw per hole per player.

Course layout:

Holes are generally between 180 and 250 feet. Holes will be shorter this year based on the provided discs and may vary by division.
Some holes will have altered tee locations, additional baskets, stacked baskets, etc. We will be soliciting baskets from members to make this event great.

Player package (Details will be announced July 20):

Players pack includes 2 D Line Prototype Putters, a sweet t-shirt, a keychain bottle opener, a sticker set, and a mini. A value of $52, all yours for

Rules of play:

Players are required to use the player package discs, and only these discs. If a disc is lost, the player has the option of using the second disc from the package. Only one throw per player per hole. All players should have their own scorecards and mark “A” for aces (a hole-in-one) and “M” for holes on which they hit metal.

After all players in the group have thrown, discs are picked up and the group moves directly to the next tee. Players keep their scorecards for round two, using the next line on the card to record the round.

Pleasant Hill / Re: Money

I'm not sure what the implication even is here. The club has flyers and information all over the place. We've recently been featured in the Kansas City Star and on Time Warner Sports locally. What we don't have, in pleasant hill, is a place to hang and proliferate information readily at the park.  If you have any suggestions to better submit information through the community let somebody know (like someone on the BoD or Aaron), otherwise you can both take your name calling elsewhere. I've used social media to plug disc golf events on the Pleasant Hill Community Forums and Aaron is in active contact with the parks department when there are projects and things going on at the park. The club has a great reputation (I think) with the police for calling cops when people are mudding through the park and ripping up property. This is a public side of the forum that can be read by parks directors (and sometimes is) and other interested parties who might support disc golf in the community. Both of your behaviors are currently embarrassing and do a disservice to the club, your character, and the military you've both served in.   To top all of this off, neither of you are current active club members, and your presence here is a privilege. I'd appreciate if you don't muddle the name of a club you're not currently active members of. Steeler you haven't been an active club member in two years and Stansberry as far as I can tell you've never joined.

Friday night leagues across the metro are pretty low draws. For me it's mostly the drive, considering I live in Lees Summit. I love the course.

General Banter / Re: KCFDC home brewers, are there any?
« on: June 30, 2015, 07:47:35 am »
I was working at my friend's homebrew shop during this Nanobrew event. Does that count?

I haven't brewed in a while, but we've talked about it. I know that Rob M. also brews, and there have been a few others.... Ryan O. brews, but I'm not sure he's an active club member right now. There are certainly several others.

Better yet.

No Lat64CAMO?  It's the KCWIDEOPEN for goodness sake.  Since the players pack may be of less subsistance compared to DD GBO, ante~ up!!!

Better yet, rather than playing disc golf tournaments for the stuff, don't.

Instead of getting what an event organizer chooses to hand out to you, for your entry fee, go to the disc golf retailers and buy the stuff directly from them.  You'll get exactly what you want and will actually save money doing so.

So much nicer than what I would have said.......

Since the Wide Open is ran by all volunteers, doesn't have a company ran business supporting them, has been around 3x as long as the said event....and the players pack isn't filled with said companies product endorsement, but rather a collection of items that multiple disc partners are willing to help support said event......I'll try to stop.....

Shortest post in the history of Jack, when a tangent appeared imminent?

General Banter / Re: Heard on the local radio this week
« on: June 15, 2015, 11:06:11 am »
I listened to that segment. They were actually talking about that youtube video of the cop profiling the disc golfer. Lazlo is paid to be an entertainer, he often takes stances which might be disagreeable because it's part of his persona.

If the club is to respond it should come from the top as an organizational note. Their radio show is always on at DD when I go in, and I'm sure a large part of our membership listen to this station.

We will be raffling off 8 Grip Bags next weekend at the Wide Open.

The new bigger ones?

Barter Town / Ranger Bag and DD Backpack
« on: June 11, 2015, 09:26:43 pm »
I've got a Rock and Roll Ranger bag for sale or trade. I'd love to keep it, but frankly... it just sits in my trunk taking up space as a backup bag. I try to rationalize it as a "casual round" bag where I can but I've really only used it 2-3 times.

I also have a DD backpack from GBO that I'm willing to part with. Cash is king, but I'd be open for trades in plastic for one or either of these items.

Let me know what you're thinking or if you're interested.

I will get a hold of Doug Keehler. He has a club owned pole saw and chain saw in his possession for working on Blue Valley. If he's not actively using them that day we can get them out there.
