Rules of play:

Players are required to use the player package discs, and only these discs. If a disc is lost, the player has the option of using the second disc from the package. Only one throw per player per hole. All players should have their own scorecards and mark “A” for aces (a hole-in-one) and “M” for holes on which they hit metal.

After all players in the group have thrown, discs are picked up and the group moves directly to the next tee. Players keep their scorecards for round two, using the next line on the card to record the round.

Barter Town / Ranger Bag and DD Backpack
« on: June 11, 2015, 09:26:43 PM »
I've got a Rock and Roll Ranger bag for sale or trade. I'd love to keep it, but frankly... it just sits in my trunk taking up space as a backup bag. I try to rationalize it as a "casual round" bag where I can but I've really only used it 2-3 times.

I also have a DD backpack from GBO that I'm willing to part with. Cash is king, but I'd be open for trades in plastic for one or either of these items.

Let me know what you're thinking or if you're interested.

Tournaments / 2015 Disc Golf Day - May 30th @ Swope
« on: May 12, 2015, 12:55:32 AM »
Cost: $20

Time: May 30th, Swope Park, 9:00 - 3:00 Flex Start; Raffle at 3:30 (Lunch 11:00 - 2:00)

Your entry gets you a t-shirt, disc, lunch, and some beer.

Free Door Prizes, Barbecue, Beer, and Raffles (Raffling a Grip bag, 2 tickets for $5, 5 tickets for $10)

Beer Sponsor: Torn Label Brewing Company (still working out the details)

Food Sponsor: Parker's Kansas City Barbecue

Disc Sponsor: Innova Discs - will have some stamped CFR discs for sale to raise funds for the KCWO.

The raffle is getting pretty substantial. We will have a grip bag to raffle, an Innova DiscCatcher Sport, Innova DiscCatcher Traveler, a GripEQ bag, an Innova Discarrier bag, 2 Innova Competition Bags, 6 Innova shirts, numerous signed collectable discs from touring pros, and perhaps more!

I am in need of volunteers to help make sure this runs smoothly. Patrick and I will likely need some help with setup and tear down. I'm thinking in shifts. 8-10, 10-12, 12-2, 2-4. If you are going to come out and play, please consider helping out by volunteering your time either pouring beer, talking up the club, or maybe even playing some music. If you happen to own a PA system, or want to DJ, let us know. The DJ we have used in the past is unavailable this year, so we are working on some details for music.

Beginners / Help Me Put Discs in the Hands of Beginners!
« on: May 07, 2015, 07:58:57 PM »
ISO: Extra Putters. My school is having an all school picnic on the last day of school (21st) and I plan on setting up my portable disc golf basket and operating some kind of putting competition. I'd like to do some driving or something too, but not sure how that will interfere with football and soccer stuff going on that day. Anyway, I'm happy to use my putters as well, but I need about 12 more putters to run the contest the way I'd like to. (5 putts at 10, 15, 20, 25 ft). If you have any putters (particularly judges or wizards) that you aren't attached to (I will try to ensure their safety) let me know.

Also, if you have any old discs laying around that you would like to put in the hands of some urban core kids, hit me up. I'll find them a home. I want to increase awareness this year, so I can try to form a club in the future.

Legacy Park - Lee's Summit / Working with P&R
« on: December 30, 2014, 09:45:09 AM »
Good Morning,

I'm planning on attending the Parks Board meeting in January. I am hoping to take a proposed memorandum of understanding with me to present to the board. I have looked up the process for requesting time to speak, and will fill out that paperwork shortly. I wanted to glean some of the past experiences of members here who have worked with the board. What information has been conveyed to them, what difficulties have you had, and what are some concerns. What work have we, as a club or individual members of the club, provided to Legacy Park. If you do not feel comfortable sharing your information here you can feel free to email me at: If you don't want to e-mail you can always send me a private message.

Young Park - Blue Springs / Course Conditions
« on: November 21, 2014, 06:24:56 PM »
So, I've always thought Wilbur Young was a difficult course, and wouldn't play it myself (I was right). I finally played a full round out there today with FTL. The first round Harold noticed large amounts of trash scattered throughout the course. During the 1:00 round the card I was on picked up at least five full bags of trash. You might think we sought out this trash, but we really just picked up stuff as we walked by. We picked stuff up right next the tee boxes. We picked stuff up 10 feet away from the trash can.  We picked stuff up around where our discs landed. The course otherwise looked great, but some of that trash had clearly been there for months. Might be time for a work day to pick up trash and stuff.

Next time you see Pate, Jake, Bowen, or Kelly B. out there take a minute and thank them for helping keep the park clean.

Found and Lost / Lost Green Gold Line Havoc - WW 13
« on: November 10, 2014, 05:49:43 PM »
Lost a green gold line Havoc on hole 13 at Water Works today. There is no name or number on the back as I had just bought the disc - and only thrown it three times.

I will gladly trade some plastic to get this back (if I have a disc that I don't use that you need) or could provide a couple beers in compensation. Just reply hear or send me a PM.

General Banter / Friday Travelling League - 11/7/2014 WyCo 9 & 1
« on: November 05, 2014, 09:17:28 PM »

I am posting this this week since Harold will not be joining us on Friday. I guess he thinks he needs to go support his wife? Hope you'll come out and get some action.

In case you can't read subjects. WyCo this week.

What's the Ace pool up to Harold?

Legacy Park - Lee's Summit / Winter Rounds
« on: October 24, 2014, 02:57:07 PM »
Hey, I'm interested in getting some people together to play some winter rounds on the weekends. Maybe on Sunday afternoons? I'd be interested in doing either a singles Open/Am or DYP Doubles like they did on Friday. Just wanting to gather interest and play a bit closer to home this winter instead of driving all over the metro to play rounds.

Beginners / Discs for Kids
« on: July 22, 2014, 10:07:58 PM »

I recently had some company in town which included a seven year old. He got really excited when he saw the basket in my yard and exclaimed that he has played "frisbee golf" at Boy Scouts camp. We threw a lot of puts around the back yard.  I was thinking that the next time we go up to visit them I would bring a few discs as a gift for him to use, and hopefully grow into.

I did a little bit of preliminary research and saw that the EDGE series is a good set of beginner and kid discs, but also noticed that they don't seem readily available. What kind of discs would you recommend, and how many do you really think he would need? I was thinking two or three discs would be an acceptable startup since he's so young and can't throw far.
