Rosedale / Re: Workday for the Wide Open May 31st
« on: May 31, 2008, 09:13:48 pm »
It was a good day for Rosedale.  The stairs are complete, and man that was a chore!!!!  I'd like to give a big thanks to John Buckle for picking up the lumber on Friday and being there today from start (9am) to finish (6:30pm), he was the man today.  I'd also like to thank Clay Chance, Nick Winklebauer, and Steve Glover for all their help on building the stairs everyone really pitched and put in a good days worth of work.

In addition we had crews out on the course trimming trees, weeds, cleaning up dead limbs and anything else they could, and I'd like to thank them too for their help: Steve Harris, Chris Timko, John Theiss, Brad Myers, KC Hippie and his playing group helped haul some debris as they played through 10 - 11, some other random golfers helped haul stuff too and I apologize for not getting their names.

I hope everyone will enjoy and appreciate the hard work it took to accomplish rebuilding the stairs and cleaning up the park the best we could in one day, and give these people thanks they all deserve it!

Now if they can just get this course mowed before next weekend it's going to look pretty good.

Thanks again for all the hard work!

Yes it's confirmed John Buckle is saving the weekend!  Anyone who shows up for the workday and wants to pitch in on buying John that case of Bush is more than welcome.

Lumber should be dropped off at #10 tomorrow morning, and we hope it doesn't walk away overnight.  So if you play tomorrow please keep your eye open for anyone loading large sticks of trees.

Please give me a call if you think you can help out with this.  I do not sit in front of a screen all day so your best bet at reaching me is calling if you can help.

The wood is being provided by KCK Parks and Rec, but they will not deliver it.  Board length's are 16' and will need to be in a truck or on a trailer.

Thanks in advance,

Is there anyone with a truck that would be available to pick up all the donated lumber we are receiving to replace the stairs at Rosedale?  I need someone who could go to Wyandotte County Lake and pick up the material Thursday or Friday this week between 6am and 2:30 pm.

Please let me know if you would be willing to help with this.

Rosedale / Workday for the Wide Open May 31st
« on: May 26, 2008, 01:42:44 pm »
Last chance to spiff  8) up Rosedale before the Wide Open.  We are going to need people who can operate chainsaws, weedeaters, and other hand tools.

If you are a carpenter or have some knowledge and would like to help rebuilding the stairs we will be doing that as well.  Currently I need someone with a truck who could pick up the materials from Wyandotte County Lake between 6am and 2:30 pm Thursday or Friday this week.  Please let me know if you would be able to help with this.

Stair building crew is planning on starting at 9am show up anytime from 9am and on.  Remember to bring gloves, and safety glasses if you plan on operating any power tools.

Hope to see you there.

Wow that's a great looking design!  One of the best I've seen come out of KC in couple years.  It will look good in my collection :)

General Banter / Re: What's your least-favorite hole?

One that comes to my mind after the EC meeting last night where it was mentioned is #12 at CD.  The one along the road OB, and  the good luck retrieving it cliff to the right.  I wouldn't say I hate this hole or even call it my least favorite but it's been a round buster more than one occasion.  With wind in your face it will make grown men cry.

I'm sorry for the last minute change but due to some much needed work (that I get paid for) I have to cancel the Saturday workday.

We'll be having another mini-workday in the next couple weeks or early April.

Again I do apologize, and thanks for your support.

Is there anyone with a truck that is planning on being at the work day?  If so I could probably get another load or two of mulch dropped off this week.

Some of the plans are to get a count and perhaps put to use the Rail Road ties we currently have off of #2's tee.

Spread more mulch and maybe some of that rock dust stuff.

Start cleaning up all the dead limbs that have been for years just pushed off the fairway into the woods.

Anyone else have anything they'd like to see get done this week?

Update to a date change!!!  I would like to move the workday to the 15th of March.  I need a little more time getting some of things we talked about at the EC meeting ready before I have a full workforce out there.  I hope this doesn't affect too many people, and I'm sorry if it does.  I plan on having at least one workday per month this year so keep your eyes out for this forum.

Rosedale / Rosedale Workday March 15th 2008 **Canceled**
« on: February 18, 2008, 07:57:23 pm »
What:  Rosedale Work Day
When:  March 15th 2008 10am - 1pm
Who:  Everyone I hope

If you can plan on attending that would be wonderful.  Plans are to have a crew finish spreading out the rest of the Mulch on some of the more muddier areas.  Crews with chainshaws will be doing some trimming of trees, especially the ones with the sharp needles on them.  The rest of us will be starting to clean up the deadwood off the fairways in the woods.

I'm hoping to have a definite answer as to where we can stage all this wood, for chipping, but the idea is to help produce our own mulch instead of buying it.  I'll be updating this post after the EC meeting and perhaps a talk with Parks and Rec.

Please remember to bring gloves, and safety glasses especially if you are planning to operate any kind of mechanical tools.  Rakes, shovels, pickaxes, chainsaws, handsaws any type of tool you think would be useful bring it.  Anyone who has a truck is always welcome.

It's going to be a great year at Rosedale and I hope to see you all out there!

Edited to March 15th.
