General Banter / What kind of Bag of do you carry?
« on: June 02, 2005, 08:36:34 PM »
I'd like a little more capacity but I definately need more storage over what I have now.

Currently I'm leaning towards a Gateway bag, then adding the Quadshocks, but the Revolutions are really nice, but also really expensive.

I still have another month until my b-day so I have time :D

I've only been in this sport for 4 month and I've already out grown my Innova standard bag.  So I've been shopping around and thought I throw it out there for you guys and gals to give me some suggestions.

So what bag are you using?  Pro's and Con's of your bag?  Disc capacity?  Anything else you want to add :)

Winter Leagues / New Summer League, DAWN PATROL

I'm not much of a morning person but I could definately make it to Rosedale, Water Works, and Swope pretty easily.  WyCo and Olathe might prove to be difficult for me to drive that early in the morning :D

So count me in!

Beginners / New Players League Monday Nights
« on: May 31, 2005, 07:57:48 PM »
Lately we've been finishing up between 7:40-8:15 I know it's a big window but it just depends.  I would encourage you to come on out even if you're on a time crunch.  If you have to leave at 16 holes that's fine just dont walk off with the card :D it's a good expierence for a beginner.

Hope to see you out!

I am new to this and while at Oklahoma Joes I saw a sign speaking of new players league. From what I understand it has already started. Are new people welcome even after the start date, are there fees involved, how long is the season, is there a website with more detailed information about getting involved in this or just show up at rosedale on Monday nights at 5:30ish. Sorry for the newb questions but this game is a blast and to play with others in an organized fashion would be splendid. Thank you for your time.

Hey no problem, we are always taking new players every week, so to answer that question no it's not too late.  Come on out on Monday!  There is no cost involved, you do not have to be a KCFDC member (it is encouraged).  Show up a little before 5:30 since we try to get started at 5:30.

Dont worry about newb questions I have/had lots of them in my 4 month's of addicting DG.

I'd say that like ball golf, accuracy and recovery skills prevail.
Choke your drive, make sure your up-shot is close.
Miss your approach, get the putt in.

Something that helped me was to realize when you are just starting out that Par is your freind!

I've figured out lots of stuff since first posting this, and your last statement cannot be said better.  Par is my friend now :D an occasional birdie doesn't hurt either.  Mostly what I try on every hole I throw is stay away from 4+, and dont miss short putts.

Fortunately, someone on my card was carrying a pair of pliers and it took all of two minutes and I was on my way.

Note to self, self throw the multi-tool in golf bag.

Thanks :)

Check the web/ebay/etc.

I take it this is not the DB5 you're talking about (this was my first google result)

BTW that is James Bond's Aston Martin DB5 :D

You are correct the DB5 disc golf basket is made by Lightning, looks very nice.  $179 at Gotta Go Gotta Throw.

I've got a Ching Skillshot that works great. It is very portable and catches really well for what it is. If you are looking for a practice basket that you can move around for temp courses they work pretty good. DGW keeps them in stock I think. They're $120 plus shipping.

If you are looking for soemthing to leave up all the time you might look at the M-14 Portable by DGA. They are $150.

I like those Ching Skillshot for a portable goal.  I just haven't decided if I want portable or something more permanant to my backyard.  I can see myself buying a portable basket and never moving from my backyard.

One other question since having your own basket how much would you say your putting has improved?

Dennis :)

I like the DB5 which translates to Disc Basket 5, meaning 5 parts. It breaks down into the trunk of your car. No truck needed.  Take it anywhere to hear the sounds of chains.  (18 chains) $195

Who makes teh DB5?

I can build you one or two if you want to spend $300 each

My basket is at Downings if you haven't seen it 8)

I have seen the basket at Downings, is that one you built?  $300 is more than I'm can spend though :( sorry.  But if you'd like to showcase your skills this would be a good thread to post some pics of your handy work.
